on a brighter note though I'm almost done with spinning the clun forest. need to finish this bobbin and then ply everything and then i can overdye the orange stuff, bc i decided it was a little too bright. i made a tea dye with all the gross black tea we have (we drink a lot of tea and sometimes buy new kinds out of curiosity so the gross ones end up accumulating and sitting in the pantry for years. so now they're all used up, which is great). I've never dyed with tea before so I'm not totally sure what color I'll get, but hopefully it'll just be a little darker and not so orange.
and then i can finally start knitting the hap !
i actually tried to start it a few days ago with what i already have spun but i forgot that the center should be done with my largest color and then the shell lace needs to be the remains of that plus the other two colors
im not gonna do a classic hap construction, i think. i don't like knitting triangles. trying to decide if the center will be c2c garter stitch or a mitered square in garter stitch (probably the former) and then I'll pick up half the border at a time and do the shell lace (i think? the shell lace also needs to be garter stitch so i don't want to do it in the round .... i suppose i could pick up just one side at a time. but i worry id make a mistake and then they wouldn't match
