it kind of bothers me that lena called her biological mother “mother”..... it seems too formal and stiff. It’s what I think she calls Lillian. I’ve headcanoned for years that she calls her bio mom “mom” or “ma”/“mama” when she was younger. Just me?

It could also be that 4yo is too young Lena to have settled into a certain address. Plus, keep in mind that the writers are aware of fandom and can you imagine the internet’s reaction if the word “mommy” came out of an adult Lena’s mouth?

The only term other than “mother” I could see being used in canon by an adult Lena is “mom,” which is isn’t exactly sacred since she used it in “Crossfire” to greet Lillian. Personally, I didn’t mind so much, but that may also be because I was busy crying over the visual of baby Lena happy in the arms of her mother.
