Y'all... What a time!!! I am profoundly blessed by yesterday's Feast. The surprise was a roaring success. He had no idea, and she had no idea of what we had in store.☺️ Amanda laid a gorgeous table, got incredible birthday decorations, and supported me through the almost 5 hours we shared. We had pate & pickles and Bourbon and Ginger punch on arrival. 🎈🎊💐 The meal was herb roasted turkey and gravy, cranberry glazed ham, dressing, mess of greens, sweet corn, jerked candied yams, yeast rolls, Tasmanian sparkling wine and Cranberry iced tea. Dessert was Mother Chase's butter cake with strawberries and peach cobbler. After dinner I made them strong Black Cowboys(Baileys, Kahlua, Bourbon, and milk😘). I kept it Gramma Wilma style and served them from the stovetop, telling them the origin of each dish and why it was important to me. Prad took pics and videos of every dish, every first bite, every first sip. Prad told me he's been following me for over 5 years, and has actively trying to get to Tassie for over 19 months. J swore he reads every menu...☺️ But more delicious than the food was the conversation. We talked about the similarities between Sri Lankan Bhurger culture and Creole folks. We talked of Afropunk culture, being a person of color on Australia and in the Arts. We talked about Real Life. We talked about Love. Loss. Dreams. We laughed, and laughed, and laughed. The hugs and kisses were heartfelt at the end of the night. I know I'll never ever forget this moment 💖 #honeychildscreole #happy40thprad #QueenJ #feasting #chefstable #blackfood #southernhospitality #thanksgiving #bestguests #creole #newfriends #soulfood https://www.instagram.com/p/CRDehqTh0Rt/?utm_medium=tumblr
