🎠July 25th is National Carousel Day!🎠

The date for this celebratory day was chosen to commemorate the first carousel patent in 1871!¹

Did you know? The world's tallest carousel is the Columbia Carousel at California's Great America. Close in second is the practically-identical Columbia Carousel at Illinois' Six Flags Great America. The twin parks were built on the same plan 50 years ago. While Six Flags received new investments in its carousel entrance, the days are numbered for California's location as well as its record-holding carousel.

It took two years, but we finally were able to celebrate a birthday as a group. Thank you to everyone for the calls, messages, texts and posts .. I really appreciate every one of you for taking a few moments to remind me how blessed I am to be surrounded by such warm and thoughtful people. It was a great couple of days starting with a trip to the @sportsmenshowto with Dad and Jamie Friday, a killer ride on my bike in the morning and then dinner and my grandson sleeping over last night. Thanks to my hunny @coachsandybatten for arranging to get most of the family and a few of my friends together for dinner out, plus this incredible ice cream cake from @dqcanada. We had lots to share with kids sitting around us, too.
