Probably the most notable example of hardcoded being weird when u say No is with the mean muscly lady, because if you say no it just boots you out and now you're locked out of an area for a day because the game really really really wants to make sure you don't miss out on the character you keep saying no to because you don't like her. and so every single event with her is just her pushing way beyond your personal space and boundaries before the game even lets you go "no thank you", so if you're not into that you're basically just getting sexually harassed constantly by someone the game won't let you avoid.
