Basically, if you ever follow space exploration, ocean exploration, genetics, AI research, or any such topics, the thing you will find everywhere is people thinking it's something humans shouldn't do because of some vague defined sacredness, or they're putting their hands over their ears and going nananana it's not real.

What's more is that some people try to defend this attitude as in "oh but they're just angry at Elon Musk" but you read it and they aren't. They hate all space technology, they think it's all a waste of time, that it's all "playing god" and that they should "focus on real problems". I've spoken with these people in person and they will not only tell you that NASA or SpaceX are wastes of time, they will say it about telescopes here on Earth and astronomy in general. They think it's all a waste of time.

And this is the same with the other fields I've mentioned. Behind the "It's none of my business what's going under the sea" or "it's full of monsters we shouldn't go down there" there is the sharp anti-intellectualism of "why should we waste money on that when we have Real Problems to solve"

It's not a matter of "well I have legitimate concerns about how this technology is used and who benefits and who are the main beneficiaries of it". It's again, that quote, it's about "playing god". It's anti-intellectualism. It's anti-science.
