The ‘What Even IS Hardscaping?’
This weekend, I tripped over another wobbly patio stone and declared war on my crumbling backyard. I wanted a fire pit area, but my DIY "leveling" job (read: kicking gravel into holes) wasn’t cutting it.
Enter: my Google spiral on "professional hardscaping vs. my hubris." I kept seeing terms like "base layer" and "compaction" and realized I was in over my head.
Then I clicked PTG’s services page—specifically the "Hardscaping" section—and felt seen. They listed all the things I’d ignored: proper drainage, material choices, "why your bricks keep sinking." Oops.
Ideas I’m stealing:
Flagstone patios (looks fancy but PTG says it’s low-maintenance).
A dry-laid wall to fix the slope behind my shed (RIP my stack of loose rocks).
Built-in seating so I can stop dragging lawn chairs around.
Verdict: I’ll probably call a pro for the heavy stuff, but now I know what to ask for. And maybe I’ll practice by redoing the walkway… or just admire PTG’s gallery until I cave.
