6.16.18 Lunchtime drawing: The Hare Krishna Tree in Tompkins Square Park, the location of the first outdoor Hare Krishna chanting outside of India in 1966 (Allen Ginsberg was in attendance.) This elm tree amongst the others in the park somehow escaped the scourge of Dutch Elm Disease in the 1930s and is still going strong, towering and shady today. Also, the first stop on my “Walk & Draw” tour today—thank you to all a who came out, two more this summer with the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation.
