Fandom: Stranger Things
Warning: None, fluff, mutual pining.
Pairing: Eddie Munson x f!reader
Summary: Eddie drops a cassette tape, which gives you the perfect opportunity to talk to him. Something you had been wanting to do for a while but didn't dare. For Eddie this is a dream come true.
Word count: 2054
A/N: I'm reeeeally wanted to write something for Eddie but I must say I'm a bit nervous about posting it. I hope you enjoy it. I love ZZ Top and especially the song Rough Boy so forgive my indulgence with this fanfic. But I needed it in my life. My writers itch started again after watching all of the seasons of Stranger Things and Eddie is my man (as a metal head myself I couldn't not love him).
| Part 2 ->
What do you do when you are so incredibly in love with someone that it almost physically hurts to be in their presence? You avoid them. Like the plague. Which is exactly what Eddie is doing to you. Not that it had any effect on your lives, you weren’t hanging out or anything, but you shared some classes together and had lockers on opposite sides of the corridor.
It had begun the first day he saw you. You were putting your books back into the locker and looked like you were in your own little world and Eddie was mesmerized. He couldn’t take his eyes off of you. He was completely done for when he heard you giggle. Then he was in love. But the trance broke when you headed towards Chrissy to talk. Then he knew he had no chance. If you hung out with the popular crew you would never acknowledge a guy like him.
But after that he kept stealing glances at you, staring "discreetly” at you in the corridors. At least he thought he was discreet with his pining. Giving you his signature smile whenever you would catch him looking at you. You always smiled back, which made Eddie’s cheeks turn bright pink but he hid it the best he could. Hoping to every god in the universe that you didn’t notice how pathetically in love he was with you. And the worst part? He hadn’t even said a full sentence to you. Maybe Hi or Thank you at best, but nothing more. Those days were the best ones, in his opinion, when he got to hear your voice and it was directed to him. It would mess up his focus for the rest of the day.
You belonged to the popular side of the high school clicks. But you didn’t belong to the cheerleading group but everyone knew of you and enjoyed your company. You had been longtime friends with Chrissy which made you popular by association. But you didn’t like her other friends. Especially not her jerk of a boyfriend Jason Carver.
He was always a jerk to those he didn’t deem worthy of his time, which was usually Eddie and his Hellfire Club. Which made you sad and annoyed. They didn’t deserve it. They minded their own business and it bothered you that he was mean to them. Eddie always defended the group or made some funny comeback towards the jocks and that was when you noticed him. Well, you’ve always known about him but now you started to pay attention to his kindness towards the younger students and to the outcast. He grew on you and then it was just downhill from there. And you fell fast. But you had no idea how you would, or could, talk to him without it appearing weird. Then, as if the universe had listened to you, you saw your opportunity.
It was the end of the school day and you were packing your backpack to head home. You saw Eddie by his locker, talking to Dustin about their new campaign they were starting on Friday. You smiled to yourself. His whole appearance burned with passion whenever he talked about his DnD campaigns. But as Eddie and Dustin were walking you saw something drop from his backpack. Eddie and Dustin were already out the doors before you could call on him. You hurried to pick it up before someone trampled on it. It was a cassette case with a cassette inside. It read ZZ Top and had a red car on the front. You’ve always wondered what the music Eddie listened to sounded like but didn’t know where you could listen to it without raising any suspicion.
You walked out of school and headed for the bus home. On the bus you took out your Walkman and held the cassette. It almost felt illegal to play someone else’s music without them knowing it. But curiosity got the better of you and you put the cassette tape into the Walkman and pressed play. The guitar riff blasted through your earphones and at first it startled you, but after a while you got a hang of it and to your big surprise, you enjoyed it. A lot actually.
When the first side of the tape was done playing you flipped it and played the other side. It’s been a while since you had this fun on the ride home. But now you were listening to Eddie’s music and it almost felt like he was sitting beside you. The thought made you smile and the faintest blush made its way onto your cheeks. The bus stopped and you made your way home with the music still playing in your ears.
You stopped in your tracks when a slower song started to play. A ballad. The lyrics hit you like nothing else. It felt like they were describing Eddie to you through the lyrics. You took out the case to see what the song was called, Rough Boy.
Fitting, you thought to yourself.
I don’t care how you look at me
Because I’m the one and you will see
I’m a rough boy
On the other side of town Eddie was panicking. He couldn’t find the cassette tape. He had been searching everywhere. Emptied the contents of his backpack onto the bed. Looked through his messy room. Nothing. No cassette tape.
He had borrowed it from Wayne and now he had lost it. Wayne would kill him when he found out it was gone. He had to buy him a new one, but he could afford it right now. The weed wasn’t selling as fast as he was hoping so the cashflow right now was low.
Fuck, he thought and put his head in his hands. He was a dead man. The most annoying thing was that Wayne had played him the cassette tape during the weekend and one of the songs made him think of you. A lot of songs made him think about you, but this one in particular, or more like what he hoped to one day say to you.
The next day your stomach was raging with butterflies, because you knew today was the day that you would talk to Eddie. You had an excuse. The best excuse to talk to him. The bus ride felt like it took forever, and the closer you got to school the more nervous you felt.
Eddie was standing by his locker and looked like someone had kicked a puppy. His sad demeanor was very uncharacteristic for him. You mustered all the courage you could and started walking towards him, but stopped when you saw his whole Hellfire crew gather around him.
Shit, you thought. There were too many people for you to dare to walk up to him now. You turned around and walked to your locker instead, beating yourself mentally that you didn’t dare to walk up when he was alone. Shit.
Behind you Eddie was looking at you. Like he always does. Everyday. Longingly, and still hoping, by some miracle, that you would talk to him. And by an even bigger miracle, love him back. But your gorgeous face couldn’t help him today so he kept on sulking throughout the day.
You tried again at lunch, but then he had his whole crew around and it wasn’t better than by the lockers. You muttered to yourself and as you were leaving you could feel someone’s eyes on you. You turned around and met Eddie’s brown eyes. He quickly turned away, trying to act cool and unbothered, but it was quite the opposite.
“When are you going to talk to her?” asked Dustin.
“Who?” Eddie asked, and tried his best to look like he had no idea what the freshman was talking about. But the blush on his cheeks gave him away. Dustin smirked.
“Yeah, right. Like you haven’t drooled over Y/N like all semester. Or even longer.”
“I’m not drooling!” He protested.
“Maybe not, but you are staring.”
Eddie rolled his eyes, but, as to prove Dustin right, he looked right at you again. Which made Dustin snort loudly. Eddie whacked his arm.
His heart ached as he watched you leave the cafeteria. God, he felt so pathetic. How could a person occupy someone’s mind like you did to him? Wandering around in there like you own the place, which you kind of did. Every waking minute he thought of you.
It wasn’t until the last period when everyone was getting ready to go home that you had decided that it was now or never. If you didn’t do it today you would certainly chicken out all the other days to come. Eddie left the classroom and made his way to his locker. He was alone.
Now! You screamed to yourself. Heart pounding like a drum and the sweat starting to creep onto your palms. Don’t freak out. Don’t freak out. Don’t freak out.
You stopped just behind him. He didn’t notice you. You cleared your throat which made him turn around. His eyes widened in pure shock and surprise. Was his mind playing games with him or were you actually standing in front of him?
“H-hi.” You stuttered, wanting to absolutely strangle yourself not being more collected.
“H-hi.” Eddie answered in utter disbelief. You started to look through you backpack until you found the cassette.
“I saw you drop this yesterday and I’ve been meaning to give it back to you.” You said and handed him the cassette. Eddie felt a mixture of relief and joy seeing the tape.
“I’ve looked everywhere for this! Thank you.” He beamed. His big smile made your heart flutter.
“Sorry for not handing it over to you sooner, I just… didn’t want to bother you.”
Bother me? He thought, like it was the most ridiculous thing he had ever heard.
“No worries, you are never bothering. Not, like, we have ever talked, but if you were to bother me, it wouldn’t be a bother.” He rambled, begging himself to stop talking. But his ramble made you giggle. His mind was gripping on to that sound for dear life. He was going to remember this for all eternity. He made you giggle. He felt invincible.
“I have to confess.” You started. “I listened to it yesterday.”
His eyebrows shot up.
“Really?”
“Yeah, I quite liked it.” You confessed and averted your gaze to something on the floor. Too embarrassed to meet his eyes. Your cheeks were full on burning from the confession.
“You did?” he asked in disbelief.
“Yeah.” You said. “Especially this song.”
You gently tried to guide his hand to turn to the back of the cassette and when your hands touched you could feel the sparks flying. You pointed at the song Rough Boy and Eddie almost choked on air. You had listened to the album and enjoyed it. He had to be dreaming. There is no way this is real life.
“It’s a great song.” He said and met your gaze.
You suddenly felt a rush of confidence taking over you.
“I would love to hear it again. Maybe we could listen to the album together sometime?”
The question caught Eddie so off guard that he couldn’t form a sentence. Or even a sound that he had heard you. His brain couldn’t register that this actually happened. He only nodded slowly, trying his best to understand if this was real life. He was afraid if he said something you would disappear or that he would wake up from this amazing dream. So, all he could do was blink and nod his head.
“Only if you want to.” you said and felt that maybe you had pushed too far. Scaring him. Because it looked like he was going into shock.
“NO, no. Of course I want to.” he rambled, almost stumbling over his words. “I would absolutely like to listen to this song. This album. With you. Alone. Together.”
You giggled. “I’m free on Friday if you are?”
Eddie nodded slowly again. “It’s a date, then.”
“Great!” You beamed. “I’m looking forward to it.”
You quickly left before your cheeks would literally catch on fire. Or your whole body. It felt like you had held your breath during the whole interaction. Maybe you had, but now you were overjoyed. You were going on a date with Eddie.
Warning: ANGSTYYYY, some pining, both Steve and Eddie are in love with you. So much crying and everyone is scared of Vecna. Nothing too scary, everyone is fine.
Pairing: Eddie Munson x f!reader, and Steve Harrington x f!reader
Summary: Vecna has been targeting students throughout Hawkins, looking for someone and now Max is showing symptoms. By chance you end up in the Upside Down to realize what Vecna has been after all long.
Word count: 2960
A/N: Eddie's not a suspected murderer but some of the deaths have happened. I’m remaking the story a bit but using some plot points in the story. Sorry! But I really wanted to write this idea, I'm super happy with how it turned out and I hope you'll enjoy it as well :).
| Part 2 | Part 3 | Eddie's ending | Steve's ending |
What did Vecna want? That was the million dollar question that circulated through the group in Eddie’s trailer.
Vecna had killed high school students over Hawkins and there didn’t seem to be a pattern. First he killed Chrissy, and then Fred. And now Max was starting to show symptoms similar to what the other victims had shown. Which made everyone worried.
You started to befriend the group through Eddie, he had been your friend for years. But then you and Steve had a lot of classes together, making you good friends. He often talked to you about his problems with Nancy when they were together.
But when they broke up, he started to notice you in a different light. Not just as a friend, but something more, and he felt stupid for not noticing before.
Eddie on the other hand had loved you since day one. He thought you were the coolest person he knew. But he didn’t want to ruin your friendship by confessing his undying love for you. So he remained quiet and admired you from afar. Which was becoming harder and harder when he noticed the new pair of eyes starting to linger on you more frequently. Steve Harrington’s eyes.
Max sat with her Walkman in her ears, listening to Kate Bush, trying her best to keep calm. But, it was easier said than done. You sat on the sofa beside Eddie. His leg was bouncing like crazy and you gently put a hand on it. He always did that when he was stressed about something.
“It’s going to be fine.” you said softly. He smiled but it didn’t reach his eyes. He always smiled at you no matter what was going on inside of him. After all the years you had known him, you had picked up on his little quirks, and vice versa. Steve, Nancy and Robin were arguing about coming up with a plan to stop Vecna, when Max came up to you. She handed you a letter with your name on it. She handed the rest of the group letters as well.
“I would like to go to the cemetery. Could you take me there?” She asked you. She specifically wanted you to go with her. You had been there for her when Billy died and she couldn’t thank you enough for it. You became like a sister to her. She wanted you there if this would be her last moments alive.
“Max-…”
“Please, I want to leave a letter for Billy.”
You nodded. “I have to ask Steve to drive us.”
“Then let's go.”
Eddie stiffed beside you. You and Steve Harrington alone in a car together? He didn’t like the sound of that. Not one bit.
“I can drive you.” Eddie said.
You smiled. “No, you can’t. Your van is broken, remember?”
“I can drive Steve’s car.”
“I’m not letting you drive my precious car, Munson. Forget it.”
“I’ll be back soon. Besides, you have to entertain the others who stay behind.” you joked. He gave you a look and he felt how his leg started to bounce slightly again. He still didn’t like the idea of you leaving with Steve.
“C’mon, let’s go.” Steve said, but Dustin and Lucas followed instead of you.
“Why are you guys tagging along?” Steve asked and tried his best to mask his annoyance with the young boys.
“Max is our friend and we need to look after her.” Lucas said. Steve just rolled his eyes, he tried to argue but was met with a desperate Max that wanted to leave. Right now.
“Fine, everyone get in the car.” Steve muttered. You were just about to leave when you heard Eddie call for you. He went up to you and handed you his jacket.
“Eddie-…”
“It’s cold outside.” He interrupted. “Please, I need to know that you are not freezing.”
That you are safe.
You smiled and put on the jacket. It was a little long on the arms but you didn’t mind. It smelled like him.
“Won’t you miss it?”
“Nah, I know you’ll return it to me.” He grinned. You were about to answer but then you heard Steve honk the horn from the outside. You smiled at Eddie again and left. You sat in the front beside Steve. He tried his best not to give death glares to the jacket that you were wearing. Eddie’s jacket. But the annoyance was showing on his face.
“Hey.” You said and elbowed his side lightly. Steve snapped out of whatever trance he was in and met your eyes. “You okay?”
“Yeah, yeah. Just peachy.” He muttered and backed the car to drive away. Just peachy. But you didn’t buy it. His sour expression returned as soon as the silence fell in the car.
You put a hand on his shoulder. The warmth of your hand sent shivered down Steve’s spine. “I know it’s a lot going on right now but I want you to know, you don’t have to deal with it alone. You can talk to me.”
The warmth lingered when you removed the hand and he already missed the touch.
“No it’s nothing-… Well, nothing for you to worry about. I’m still here.” He said and gave you a side smile. “But thank you.”
“Of course.” You smiled at him.
-
The cemetery laid quiet in the autumn sun and Max sat cross-legged in front of Billy’s grave. The letter she gave you earlier burned in your back pocket. You wanted to throw it away, because this was a testament of all the chaos that was happening in your hometown. Since Will got kidnapped nothing had been the same. None of your friends were the same. All pained or hurt by something that kept on coming back to plague you. It pained you how different everything was. Dustin and Lucas were discussing something and Steve tried his best to be supportive with their back and forth.
The wind rattled through the leaves, leaving you with goosebumps on your arms. You drew Eddie’s jacket closer to your body to shield from the cold. You involuntarily shivered. But something felt wrong. You looked over to Max, but she was still sitting and talking to the tombstone.
Then, you heard it, the faintest dong of an old clock, somewhere in the distance. The hair on the back of your neck rose. He was near. Vecna was near. Panic rose inside of you and you started walking towards Max. We had to leave right now.
“Max, I think we should leave.” You said but got no response. You went closer to her and her eyes were milky white and were staring up to the sky. He had her.
No, you thought. Your eyes widened in panic. Shit.
“GUYS HELP!” You screamed. Steve and the boys ran up to you and Max. Dustin and Lucas shook her and tried looking for her Walkman in a panic. They poured out the contents of her backpack on the ground looking for the right cassette tape and Steve tried his best to help.
Then she started to rise from the ground.
NO!
Without thinking you took her hand, to try to drag her down again. But then, like being knocked by a hard sound wave, you fell backwards and hit the ground hard. You weren’t holding Max’s hand anymore, but when you looked around your stomach fell. You were in the Upside Down. How did you get there?
Looking around for something – or someone – familiar you heard Max talk to someone. Vecna. His low voice talked to her, taunting her for our feeble attempt to get away from him. You ran towards them.
“You have something that I want, Max. You can help me find her.”
“No.” She pleaded. “Please.”
“It will be over in a moment. You won’t feel a thing. All your pain will disappear.”
“NO!” You shouted. Gaining the attention from both Vecna and Max.
“Y/N, what are you doing here?” Max asked.
“Y/N.” Vecna said and let go of Max.
-
In the real world the boys were freaking out. When you grabbed Max’s hand your eyes also turned milky white and you were frozen in place. They tried to wake you up but it didn’t work.
“No, no, no, no.” Steve panicked. “What do we do?!”
“Play music, play her favorite song!” Dustin shouted.
“I don’t know her favorite song!”
“How do you not know her favorite song?!” Lucas yelled.
“Why would I?”
“All you do is obsess over her, how would you not know?!” Dustin paced back and forth. “Shit, shit, shit, shit.”
“I don’t obsess over her.” Steve muttered.
“No it’s not the time to lie, Steve.” Dustin retorted, annoyed. “Please, try to think of something.”
-
Vecna came closer to you. Walking slowly like a predator towards its prey. You couldn’t tear your eyes from him and you were trembling like a leaf.
“I’ve been searching for you, Y/N. It took some time – and people – to find you.”
Your eyes widened at his statement and it made your stomach drop. He had killed the other students because he was looking for you. Why?
He was so close that you could almost feel his breath on your cheek.
“Max, RUN!” You screamed with a shaky voice.
“What about you?!”
“I’ll be fine, just go.” You lied, deep down you knew you were screwed. You had nowhere to hide or escape. Vecna kept on approaching you.
Then, far away, you could hear something. Music. It was faint but surely you recognized the song immediately. Kate Bush’s Running up the Hill.
Behind you, a portal to the regular world opened. You could see Steve, Dustin and Lucas looking up at Max. Her earphones were blasting the music so loud that you could hear it. That was why you could see the portal.
“Max. Leave. Now.”
She shook her head. “I don’t want to leave you.”
“Go back and then you can rescue me. Please, go!” You pleaded. She started running towards the portal. The music became louder.
“Finally, I have you to myself.” Vecna said.
He reached for you with his talon-like fingers. You closed your eyes, begging for death to come quickly, but felt nothing. His fingers went right through you. You opened your eyes again and were met with his surprised look. He tried again, same results. His expression hardened and he took a deep breath. It was like you were a ghost.
“You are not here.” He muttered but mostly to himself. “You are still in the real world.”
His mood changed and he became angry. Frustrated. Furious. You were not here.
-
Max’s body stopped hovering and she sank slowly to the ground again. As she sank, your hand fell from hers and you almost fell to the ground if Steve hadn’t caught you and put you down on the ground. Your eyes were closed. But Max opened her eyes and cried.
“Max, you’re back!” Lucas said and hugged her.
“Y/N? Y/N!” Steve said and gently shook you, then harder when he noticed it didn’t work. You were completely passed out. Panic rose inside of him. No, no, no. Wake up. Please, wake up.
“What is wrong with her? Why isn’t she waking up?” Steve yelled. Max rose from Lucas embrace and crawled over to you.
“She’s stuck in the Upside Down.”
“What?!” Steve said.
“We have to save her!” Max sobbed.
“How?”
“What is her favorite music?” Dustin asked again.
“I still don’t know!” Steve yelled.
“Somebody has to know?!” Dustin yelled back.
“We have to take her back to Eddie’s. The others maybe can help us.” Lucas said.
Steve picked you up bridal style and carried you to the car.
“Hang on, Y/N. We’re getting you back.” he said in a low tone. It was mostly meant for you to hear. Dustin opened the back door so Steve could lay you down before sprinting to the driver’s seat and drove away like his life depended on it. Some part of him felt like it did. Because, if you were stuck there with Vecna, there was no telling how much time they had left to get you back. For him to get you back.
-
Steve parked the car at Eddie’s trailer and carried you out from the car. Dustin ran up to the door and flung it open with full force, scaring the others inside when it slammed to the wall.
“What the hell?” Robin muttered.
“Coming through!” Dustin said and made way for Steve and you.
“WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!” Nancy yelled.
“We don’t know but she touched Max when she got sucked into the Upside down and now she’s been unconscious since-...”
“We need her favorite song.” Lucas interrupted.
Eddie came from his bedroom to see what the commotion was about, and his face fell when he saw your unconscious body in Steve’s arms. If this were under different circumstances he would have a different feeling in his chest besides panic.
“Y/N?”
“Where can I put her?” Steve asked.
“In here.” Eddie said and led the way to his bedroom. Steve put you gently on the bed, behind him followed everyone else.
“What happened?!” Eddie asked.
“No time, we need her favorite song, NOW!” Dustin yelled at his DnD master. “Do you know it?”
Eddie beelined for his van as fast as he could. He was looking around for the cassette tape you had given him. The both of you had exchanged cassette tapes with your favorite songs on so that you had it for different rides in his van.
“So I can listen to some good music when you drive me.” you teased.
“Hey! My music is the best and you love it.” He retorted with a fake hurt tone in his voice, which made you laugh. God, he loved that sound.
“Whatever you say, rockstar.” You grinned.
He found it and hurried back inside. Robin and Nancy were trying to help with going through the cassette tapes that Eddie had in his room. But they couldn’t find something they recognized.
“Where is the Walkman?!” Dustin shrieked, making his voice crack.
“Here!” Answered Robin and handed it to Steve, who was sitting beside you. He put the earphones on your ears and gently touched your hair with one of his knuckles. The gesture was so subtle that no one would’ve noticed it if they weren’t directly looking.
“Do you have the tape?” Steve asked Eddie.
“Yeah.” Eddie sat down beside you, on the opposite side of the bed from where Steve was sitting. He took the Walkman from Steve and put in the tape and pressed play. Music started playing and they all waited. Holding their breaths in anticipation. Steve was staring intensely at you. Eddie mumbling c’mon, c’mon, c’mon, like it was a mantra to keep him from breaking. He could hear the song through the earphones. He took your hand without thinking, stroking your knuckles gently.
C’mon Y/N, come back.
-
Vecna still had you cornered in the Upside Down. You were too afraid to move, and you didn’t really know where to run off to. Where would one escape or hide in this place? You sent a silent prayer that the others would soon get you back, alive. Then, you heard it. Music. Your favorite song.
C’mon Y/N, come back.
Eddie? you thought. You could’ve sworn that you heard his voice.
You turned to your side and saw a portal open and it was opening for you. It showed Eddie’s bedroom. You could see everyone sitting around you. You saw Steve sitting beside you, with the most worried look on his face, and on the other side you saw Eddie, holding you hand. You could hear Max sobbing in the background.
“I could’ve saved her. She stayed behind to save me. I shouldn’t have left her.”
Lucas hugged her. “Y/N is a fighter. She will get back, just like you did.”
You started moving with shaky legs, but Vecna tried again to grab you, but his fingers still went through you. So you ran. You ran as fast as you could towards the portal. The light. And finally made it back.
You woke up and gasped for air, like you had been holding your breath the entire time you had been in the Upside Down. You shook uncontrollably and tears started pouring down from your eyes.
“YES!” Dustin yelled.
Everyone collectively let out a sigh of relief when you woke up. Steve grabbed your head and hugged you tightly, making the earphones fall off of your head.
“I thought we lost you.” He said, choking on his words.
“You didn’t. You saved me.” You panted. He let go of you and you felt Eddie’s hand in yours and met his eyes. They were filled with tears.
“Please don’t do that again.” He croaked, trying his best not to cry. “I need my jacket back.”
You laughed but then hugged him tightly, wanting him as close to you as possible. He answered back with a bone crushing hug. Never wanting to let you go. Then the others joined in for a group hug. When everything had calmed down they started talking.
“How did you get there?” Nancy asked.
“I don’t know. I touched Max’s hand when I saw that she was under Vecna’s spell, and then I was in the Upside Down, like I was teleported there through Max. But I wasn’t really there. Vecna couldn’t touch me. It was like I was a ghost. There, but not really. It made him furious.”
You paused. “But now I know what he is after.”
“Really? What is it?” Nancy asked. Everyone’s attention focused on you.
Warning: EVEN MORE ANGST, some MORE pining, both Steve and Eddie are in love with you. So much crying and everyone is scared of Vecna. Nothing too scary, everyone is fine.

| Part 1 | Part 3 | Eddie's ending | Steve's ending |
The singular word made the air feel thick. No one dared to say a word. They all had to process what you had said. What it really meant. Vecna had kidnapped all the high school students to get close to you. To find you. He had found you through Max.
“It has to be a mistake.” Steve muttered. Not that he didn’t believe you, but he didn’t want to believe it was true. Why did Vecna want you? Why did it have to be you?
“It’s not.” You said. “He told me.”
“But it doesn’t make sense. Why would he want you?” Steve asked.
“I don’t know.”
“There has to be something we can do to prevent this.”
“How? And what?” You asked.
“I don’t know, something.”
“We couldn’t do it with Max. He found her even though we tried to hide her from him.” You stated.
I couldn’t protect her, you thought.
“He found you through me, didn’t he?” Max muttered, her voice thick with sadness. “It’s all my fault.”
“No, it’s not.” You said and sat beside her. “Look at me.”
She did.
“It’s not your fault. I would’ve saved you a hundred times over without a second thought. Always.”
She gave you a faint smile. But not quite believing the words you said. The shame still ate her alive.
“So, what do we do now?” Robin asked.
“We are keeping her safe, that’s what we are doing.” Steve stated. I won’t let him get to you again.”
Steve walked closer to you, earning an eyeroll from Eddie. Why was Steve so overprotective of you all of a sudden? It’s not like you were Steve’s best friend. You were Eddie’s best friend, and he had no right to just waltz in and pretend that he cared about you.
You smiled at Steve.
Then, Dustin lit up like he always did when he had an idea forming in his head. He explained it to the rest of the group, now that they knew that Vecna wanted you, and that they could get to him through Max. They could use Max as bait to get him back to the real world, which made him vulnerable in the Upside Down. Then, they could travel to his hide-out and take him down.
“Max can tell him that she knows where Y/N is and lure him out-” Dustin explained.
“No.” Steve blatantly interrupted.
“But Steve-..."
“No! She’s not going back there. Period.”
“Steve, that’s not your call to make.” You protested.
“I’m with Steve on this one.” Eddie agreed.
“Eddie-“
“Do you know how scary it was to see you like that?” Eddie said and gestured to his bed where you had been just moments ago. “You were gone and I- we weren’t sure if you were coming back me-us…”
Your lips formed into a thin line.
“I have to do this. If I can help, then I won’t be sitting back here and let you guys risk your life for me.”
“Y/N-…” Steve started.
“No, you would’ve done it if the roles were reversed. So let me do this.”
They looked at you for a moment and then nodded.
Getting to the Upside Down wasn’t too hard as Eddie had a huge hole in the ceiling leading right to where they needed to go. Dustin tossed a rope through the hole. Steve went first. Walking to Eddie’s bedroom to grab the mattress so the others had something soft to land on. Eddie was a little embarrassed that they – mostly you – had to see the state that his mattress was in. The number of stains that he didn’t want to explain to the group. You laughed at his flustered state.
You went next, giving Steve an uncertain look through the hole.
“You’ll be fine.” Steve reassured. You climbed up and then fell, but instead of landing on the mattress, you landed in Steve’s arms. “I got you.”
You widened eyes met Steve’s soft ones. He had a gentle expression on his face and gave you a faint smile. He really wanted to close the gap between you. But of course, Munson had to interrupt the moment.
“Will you catch me as well?” he asked jokingly, looking up at Steve and you. Trying his best to mask the jealousy in his chest.
If looks could kill, then Steve would be dead on the floor from Eddie’s murderous gaze. Steve would be a pile of ashes that Eddie would blow away with a leaf blower without any remorse in his body, leaving nothing left of Harrington. Especially not that longing look that he was giving you right now. He hated that look more than anything.
“I think you will handle it just fine.” Steve said and put you down on the floor. He moved to give Eddie space to land safely. Eddie shrieked on the way down and landed with a thump on his back. His eyes widened in shock and relief that it worked and that he didn’t get hurt. You offered your hand to him to pull him up. He gladly accepted it.
The rest of the gang followed soon after. Lucas and Max left for Vecna’s old house to lure him far away from where your group were. Dustin and Lucas had their Walkie-Talkies so they could reach each other if there was any trouble.
Once everyone was in the Upside Down you started heading towards Vecna’s old house, when he was still Henry.
The air was filled with ash-like particles that floated around. Thunder and lightning boomed in the distance, leaving a red light in the sky. This place really felt like hell on Earth.
But they didn’t make it far before a swarm of demon-bats came flying towards them. The bats tore, bit and whipped them when they flew past them. One of the bats grabbed Steve by the neck and started to drag him away and another bit him on the side.
“NO!” you shouted and grabbed the nearest weapon to kill the bat with. The others helped the best they could. You hit the bat hard and stabbed its tail, making it let go of Steve’s neck. He gasped for air and you helped him move away from the commotion.
When the bats disappeared, you helped Steve to a nearby tree and asked Eddie for the first aid kit. He went in and fetched it for you. You started to clean the wound. Eddie’s jaw clenched and he mumbled something about helping Robin in the trailer. You nodded but continued to tend to Steve’s wounds.
“I need to lift up the shirt, okay?” you said.
“Okay.”
You gently lifted the shirt to get better access to the bleeding wound. He hissed when the bandage touched it.
“Sorry.” You muttered.
“No worries.”
You felt his eyes on you as you worked the bandages around him. You looked up. Steve’s eyes had the same softness as when he caught you from falling through the ceiling. And it had another emotion you couldn’t quite pinpoint. He stretched out his hand to put a strand of hair behind your ear. The gesture made the corner of your mouth turn upwards slightly.
“Thank you.” He mumbled.
“No problems, I got you.” You teased, referring to what he had said before. He smiled and you helped him up.
You went inside to wash your hands from Steve’s blood and Eddie was sitting on the sofa with a hard expression. His leg was bouncing again. You could tell he was stressed about something. He was biting his nails and looking into in the distance, lost in thoughts.
You sat down beside him and put a gentle hand on his leg, like you always did when he was stressed. He stopped and turned to you.
“I’m glad you’re with me.” You whispered. “I need you here.”
“Yeah?”
“Always.”
The two of you shared a look, longer than any of you expected but neither of you wanted to break it.
“I’m glad you’re okay.” Eddie said.
“Oh, I’m not worried about me. I know you’ll keep me safe.” You said and gave him a teasing smile. Eddie laughed.
“Of course I will. The demon-bat’s won’t know what hit them when I flex these guns.” He said and showed off his biceps.
You laughed at his bad joke and nudged his side. You looked at him again and noticed a cut on his cheek.
“Does it hurt?” you asked and you lightly touched his cheek. Eddie wanted nothing more than to lean into your touch.
“Not too bad.”
You rose from the couch and got a cloth from the first aid kit that you rinsed in warm water. You then sat down beside him again and gently cleaned his wound, moving a little closer to him to get a good look at the wound. The warmth from the cloth and your proximity made Eddie’s heart race. He wanted to touch your cheek so badly, but the moment was interrupted with the rest of the group bargaining in the trailer. Eddie swore a silent curse over their companions absurdly bad timing.
You quickly stopped cleaning his cheek and retracted your hand and rose from the couch again to throw away the cloth.
“There, all cleaned up.”
Nancy and Robin were talking that they needed weapons to make it to Vecna’s house. There was no way they would make the journey otherwise. Searching around the trailer, they made different weapons with the material they could find in the trailer. Baseball bats filled with nails. Armor and shields from the trash can outside. Steve grabbed a chainsaw from the back and you were as ready as one could be.
-
Max was trapped inside of Vecna’s memories. She had been yelling inside his house all night that she knew where you were hiding and that she was going to tell him where, if he showed himself. It didn’t take long for the lights to start to flicker in the room. Lucas sat beside her and held his breath.
Max was at a high school gym that had been decorated for prom. He was close, she could feel him. The party lights in the gym flickered and soon the big double doors flung open. Revealing Vecna.
“There you are.” He taunted.
Max ran and tried to find a place to hide.
“Where is she?”
Vecna telekinetically through chairs and decorations around her.
“Tell me, Max. Where are you hiding Y/N?”
Max rose from behind some tables and gave him the middle finger, which made Vecna laugh.
“Funny, but I’m starting to feel that she isn’t here. You are just playing with me.”
Vecna grabbed Max with his powers and dragged her to him. She tried to move but nothing happened. Her brain didn’t let her muscles move.
“Where is she?”
Max didn’t dare to speak. She didn’t want to be the reason he found you again.
“Well, if you won’t tell me, then I have to find out for myself.”
“NO!”
Vecna touched her forehead with his slender finger and saw you. You were in a trailer, far from where he was now. But he smiled. Because you were in the Upside Down. The real you were finally there.
“Finally.” He muttered and threw away Max like she was a ragdoll. He walked towards the door and left with a mission to find you.
-
“I hope Max is okay.” You said in a low tone to Eddie. You and him were walking side by side towards Vecna’s house.
“Of course she is. She is a tough girl. Just like you.” He said and nudged your side, making you smile slightly.
“Thank you. But I wouldn’t have made it back if it weren’t for you guys. You saved me.”
“A team effort really, but it was quite heroic, wasn’t it.”
But I heard you first, you thought. You wanted to tell him. You had heard his voice before you saw the portal.
“Eddie-…” you started.
You felt the hair on the back of your neck rise. Vecna was near. You didn’t have time to utter the words before he appeared beside the group. Your eyes widened in fear.
“Y/N.”
The group formed a circle around you, doing their best to protect you. Eddie shieled you the best he could from Vecna’s gaze. Vecna grinned.
“It’s a bold attempt, but foolish.”
“How did you find us?” Nancy shouted.
“Max tried her best to be brave, but to no use, unfortunately.”
“What did you do to her?” You screamed and started to walk towards him but were stopped when a hand grabbed your arm tightly. You turned around and it was Steve who tried to stop you.
“Let go.”
“No, Y/N. Don’t you see it’s a trap.”
“I’m not risking her life, or yours. Not again.”
Eddie walked up to you.
“Please, Y/N.”
You clenched your jaw, lowering your arm. Steve let go of you. Nancy stood ready with the shotgun. Her eyes said ‘just give me the word and I’ll shoot him, no questions asked’. You gave her a small nod and Nancy fired off one of the shots, hitting Vecna in the shoulder. He stumbled slightly but got more annoyed and flung her away, leaving her unconscious beside a tree nearby. Robin threw a Molotov at him and it momentarily slowed him down, but he was too powerful for it to work fully. She tried again and threw another one.
“WHAT DO WE DO?!” Steve yelled.
“I DON’T KNOW, NOTHING IS WORKING!” Robin screamed back.
Vecna locked his eyes on Robin and raised her from the ground, choking her.
“STOP!” You shouted. Your scream caught Vecna’s attention.
“If I come with you. Do you promise me you will let my friends go?”
Vecna looked at you and then lowered Robin down to the ground again.
“I promise.”
“No, you will make a portal and send them back to the real Hawkins. I want to see that you do it before I come with you. Or else, no deal.”
You bore your eyes into his milky white ones. He flicked with his hand and a portal appeared just behind your friends. You turned around and Eddie and Steve started walking towards you, but they were met with an invisible wall, making it impossible to reach you.
Eddie felt around the air but couldn’t find an opening and started to panic when he didn’t find one. Steve took his bat and swung it as hard as he could towards the barrier. It hit something but the force just bounced back, making Steve stumble a bit. You walked towards your friends and raised your hand. The invisible wall felt like glass and was completely see-through.
“Just precaution so you don’t get any ideas of following them.” Vecna stated.
You met Eddie’s eyes.
“Don’t.”
“I’ll be fine.” you lied, feeling the tears burn in your eyes.” Get back home safe-”
“-no.”
“-and get Max to safety.” you continued.
“No!”
Eddie’s voice broke.
“You’re my hero, Eddie. You always have been.”
“Don’t say it like that.”
“Like what?”
“Like this is goodbye.”
You put your hand where his was on the invisible wall. You tried so hard to feel his warmth through the barrier, but nothing.
“Not goodbye, just see you later.” You tried your best to smile through the tears. Eddie clenched and unclenched his hand and pounded in anger at the barrier. Nothing. You sobbed and turned to Steve. He looked devastated.
“Keep them safe, and get out of here as soon as possible. You’ll be fine.” You said and you could almost see how Steve’s heart broke physically.
“Please don’t go.”
“Don’t do anything stupid.”
“Y/N…”
Vecna flicked his hand and you started to rise from the ground and slowly he was dragging you away from them.
“NO!”
“Y/N!”
Steve tried again to break the wall with his bat, but nothing helped. Vecna flicked with his other hand, and it created a force so strong it pushed your friends towards the portal, sucking them in. The last thing you saw was Eddie’s big brown eyes, filled with sorrow and heard Steve screaming your name.
Then it closed, leaving you alone with Vecna. He dragged you closer to him. He turned you around so you could face him.
“Finally, I can make my plans a reality.”
He touched your face with his sharp nail, but something happened. His hand turned into a human hand. It kept on spreading down his arm. He quickly removed his finger from your cheek, and it returned to its claw-like form.
“Fascinating.” He muttered. He dragged you along with him at a safe distance towards his house.
But what you didn’t know was the absolute fear spreading inside of Vecna. He thought you were like Eleven but more powerful, but he was wrong. You were the opposite. You could remove powers, and that was a threat to him and his plans. He had to get rid of you.

<- Part 1 |
If you thought Eddie would react normally to your encounter before heading home, you are mistaken. He had trouble moving from his locker after you had left. He had trouble breathing and thinking after you left him in an emotional turmoil. You had not only talked to him, which was the greatest gift he could ever receive, but you had also asked him out on a date. You had asked him. He had no idea how he got home but somehow when he got semi-conscious about the world around him he was in his bed, looking up towards the ceiling.
There is no way. There is no way, he kept thinking. Nope. Not in a million years. Never. This has to be some kind of joke. A prank. Because there is no logic in you liking him back. Right?
No amount of overthinking today's interaction would make it make sense. Because it didn’t. He held the cassette in his hand and raised it to look at it. This is the best cassette in the world. No matter what anyone said. Even if ZZ Top wasn’t really that metal, it didn’t matter. You liked it and therefore Eddie loved it from now on. He thought back to when your hands touched and the memory gave him a visceral reaction. He couldn’t lay still when thinking about it. His body felt too many emotions all at once. You touched him.
Oh god, he would do literally anything for it to be Friday tomorrow. But no, he had to endure a whole week of waiting. Excruciating waiting. But also, he was terrified. What if he fucked up the date? What if you didn’t actually want to meet him? What if this was a joke? Again, he couldn’t quite let go of the thought of it being a prank or a joke.
You on the other hand were dancing in your room, feeling all kinds of lovey-dovey emotions. You had also replayed today's interaction like a million times but you couldn’t contain yourself. You had done it. You talked to him and had asked him on a date and he had said yes. Yes! It was truly the best day of your life. He was so handsome up close. Those big brown eyes of his made you melt to the core, and the butterflies wouldn’t stay still for even a second. Could this week pass quickly so you could see him again.
Why did you have to ask him out in the middle of the week? You thought to yourself, annoyed that you had to wait so long for Friday. But soon, you would finally have that date with him.
Unfortunately, your schedules didn’t really align with one another so you didn’t see much of him. Which bummed you out. You wanted to make sure that it was still on, on Friday.
Maybe he had forgotten, you thought worried. You tried your best not to let the nerves get the better of you, but it was hard. But today was Thursday so you just had to get through today.
Chrissy came up to you with a big smile.
“Hey Y/N.” she beamed.
“Hey! What’s up?” you smiled back.
“I wanted to invite you to a party at Jason’s on Friday. He said I had to ask you. Andy is going to be there and if you didn’t know already he has a crush on you.” She said with a mischievous grin.
“Ah, I can’t.”
“Why not?”
You felt your cheeks burning. “I have a date.”
Chrissy’s mouth fell. “With who?”
“E-Eddie.” You stuttered and looked down shyly. You only got that shy with guys you really liked. She gave you a cheeky grin.
“I figured you had a thing for him.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. You have been staring a lot at him when you think no one notices.” She winked and you laughed but felt a little embarrassed. If she noticed then surely he would know as well.
“Well, have fun and don't do anything stupid.”
You laughed and thanked her. She smiled and returned to her group of friends.
Friday. Eddie had never been so nervous about a Friday in his entire life. He was more unfocused than usual. His palms were sweaty and he felt like he was going to die. He almost expected you to cancel, some tiny part of him hoped so he didn’t have to endure this agony. But the other part of him really wanted the date to happen. Like the majority of him wanted it. But god, could this day just pass already?
You saw him by his locker, fumbling with something. You smiled and approached him.
“Hi.” You said softly.
Eddie turned to face you. He breathed caught in his throat.
“H-hi.” He stuttered and leaned against the locker to look cooler than he felt. You giggled at his attempt. His smile widened.
“I-I was just checking if we were still on? After school?” You tried your best to sound composed but on the inside you were freaking out.
Please, don’t say no, you begged.
“Y-yes. Yes, of course. I’ve been looking forward to it.” He answered and hated himself for being so awkward.
“I’ll see you after school then.” you beamed. You felt like you could explode with joy as you walked to class.
After the classes were over Eddie practically sprinted to his locker, getting confused looks from his fellow Hellfire crewmembers. He wasn't getting anything from it but he wanted to be there to see you walk towards him. Like he had dreamed of since the first time he saw you. It wasn’t unusual for Eddie to look at you when you walked from the last period to your locker. It was going to be the last he saw of you before the weekend and he had to savor it.
But today he wanted to savor the feeling of knowing that when you walked from the last class of the day, you were heading towards him. With him.
It felt like you were walking in slow motion, talking to someone from the same class as you and you laughed. Eddie just stared. He couldn’t tear his eyes from you. Your attention turned to him and he could feel his heart skip a beat. You smiled when you saw him and he gave you his biggest smile in return. But it soon fell when Jason Carver approached you.
“Hey Y/N”
“Hi.” you said and tried your best to not sound annoyed.
“I heard that you couldn’t make it tonight. It’s a shame really because Andy was looking forward to spend time with you.”
“Ah, well, I’ve got other plans.” you said and tried to move past him but he blocked your way again. He was really testing your patience.
“I heard that too. But, don’t you think you should spend your time with… someone that won’t waste it.”
You gave him a pissed off look. “And hanging out with you is not a waste of my time you mean?”
“Just think about it, okay?.”
“I have and I’ve made my choice. Believe me when I say tonight won’t be a waste of time.”
You moved again and Jason didn’t follow. If he had you would’ve given him a murderous look. You instead focused on Eddie that had an anxious look on his face. His heart had sunken in his chest when he saw Jason talk to you. But the harsh look you had given him almost made Eddie laugh. You stopped right in front of him.
“Ready to leave?” you asked brightly. You wouldn’t let anybody ruin this afternoon, especially not Jason.
“Ye-yeah, let’s go.” Eddie said and you followed him to his van. If his nerves had been bad throughout the day they got even worse when you entered his van. Now you two were totally alone. No classmate that could interrupt, no school or time to worry about. Just you and him.
Don’t be weird. Don’t be weird. Don’t be weird, he thought through the whole ride. And for the love of GOD don’t fuck this up.
He started the engine to the van and started driving to his trailer.
“I hope you didn’t have to wait long.” you said.
Only months, he thought.
“No, not really. Not that I would’ve minded to wait, I would wait for you.”
Why, god, why?
You smiled. “Good, I tried to hurry and if Jason wouldn’t have stopped me, we would have already left.”
“What did he want?” he asked, trying his best to not sound as anxious as he felt. He was having a million thoughts about your encounter.
“I was invited to a party tonight and he asked me why I wasn’t coming.”
“Ah.”
“And I said that I had better stuff to do with my time. Better people to meet.” You smirked.
“Oh.” Eddie was nodding but his brain couldn’t compute what you had said. Or more like he didn’t think it was real life.
“Better people huh?” He grinned.
“Yeah.” you blushed.
The two of you arrived at his trailer. He hurried out to open the passenger door for you and lead you inside.
The trailer was messy and he wished that he had cleaned up the day before, but some part of him didn’t want to because he was, again, scared that if he hoped too much it wouldn’t happen. So, if he treated the date nonchalantly and left the home as it used to be, nothing could jinx it so you would cancel. But now he felt embarrassed and wished he had made an effort.
You looked around trying to not think about how close he was standing behind you or that you were in fact completely alone. You turned around to face him. He was already looking at you. Like he always did. His eyes were the sizes of dinnerplates, as if he too had realized what was happening. What was finally happening. You cleared your throat.
“Where do you hide your music, Munson?” you asked mischievous. Which woke Eddie from his trance.
“Follow me, sweetheart.”
The nickname made your heart flutter. He opened the door to his room.
“Welcome to the dark side, to the world of heavy metal, sweetheart.” He gestured dramatically and you looked around, grinning at his antics. You admired the guitar hanging on the wall and the stacks of different cassette tapes. You looked at the night stand and saw the cassette tape that you had returned to him.
Please don’t let this be a dream, Eddie thought and started touching his mouth, watching as you wandered around in his bedroom. He had had this dream so many times before.
You walked over and grabbed the cassette tape.
“I’ve been missing this song actually.” You said and handed him the tape. Your hands touched and you could feel the electricity fly.
“I-I can put it on, if you want?” He asked. You nodded and he hurried to his cassette player and started the first song. You sat down on his bed, still looking around his room. The bed shifted and you held Eddie’s presence beside you. You turned, surprised how far away he was, so you discreetly moved closer to him, and Eddie noticed. He wanted to have some distance if you were just here to listen to music, and not to be near him. His breath caught in his throat when you got closer. It got even harder to breathe when your knees were touching.
Then Rough Boy started playing and you beamed. He let out a sigh. You looked so adorable enjoying the music. In his bed.
Don’t freak out, Munson.
You swayed to the low beat and leaned closer to him, and then put your head on his shoulder. Feeling more and more confident, and hoping that you didn’t cross any lines. Eddie stopped breathing for a moment and went stiff. You felt his rigid demeanor and removed yourself from his shoulder.
“I’m sorry if I’m being too clingy.” You said.
He wanted to punch himself for making you believe that he didn’t want this. He wanted it more than anything in the entire world.
“No please, you couldn’t be too clingy. Not on me. Please feel free to cling and touch me as much as you want.” He said and realized when the words left his mouth how wrong it sounded. He let out a groan. But you giggled.
“So, you don’t mind?”
“No- not at all.”
You leaned closer to him again and then put an arm around his lower back. Dragging him gently closer to you. He obliged and without thinking snaked his arm around you as well. You turned to him, his breath almost tickling your cheek from the proximity. Your eyes flickered from his eyes to his lips. You could see he was thinking about something because his jaw clenched and unclenched multiple times.
“To close?” You whispered.
“Not close enough.”
Which was what you needed to hear. You closed the gap. Connecting your lips to his. He jumped slightly at the sudden warmth of your lips but soon melted into the kiss. The hand on your lower back pulled you closer and the other grabbed your neck. The kiss deepened and you pulled him closer to you, dragging him down so he was on top of you.
You broke apart to breathe and to realize what had happened. You felt your cheeks burn flaming hot. Eddie looked down at you and admiring you completely. Here you were, laying in his bed, listening to his music and making out. This sort of thing didn’t happen to guys like him. He felt the insecurity bubble up inside and you saw it flicker in his eyes.
“What’s wrong? Did I overstep?” you asked, feeling shame and panic rise inside of your chest. Maybe you misread the whole situation?
“I-I’m having a hard time understanding if this is real or not.”
“Why wouldn't it be real?”
“Because you are you, and I’m me… You know, the Freak Munson. Not the guy that gets the beautiful girl in the end.”
You frown your brows at the nickname.
“Well,” you started and touched his cheek gently with you hand. “this girl is head over heels with the DnD master at Hawkins High. And she is having a hard time believing she is in his bed, making out and listening to music. To the same song that made her think of him throughout the whole night when she had the tape.”
Eddie’s gaze didn’t break from yours once. He was taking it all in.
“Yo-you love me?”
“I have been for a while.” You breathed.
“Now I know that I’m dreaming because there is no way that you would say it to me first.”
“Really?” you grinned.
“Yeah, because…” he lowered himself onto you. “I’ve been in love with you since the first time I saw you, and I was absolutely screwed the first time I heard you giggle in the corridor. It was the best sound I’ve ever heard and I want to make you do that forever.”
You giggled and then laughed because of it. He kissed you again, and this time he believed everything was truly happening.
“I've wanted to play his song for you since the first time I heard it.” Eddie confessed. “It made me think of you. Well I always think of you, but especially when I heard this song.”
“Well, Rough Boy. Let’s hear it again.”
He smiled over the nickname.
“I really like it. But, It got even better when your lips were on me.”
“Like this?” you asked and kissed him again. He nodded and this time he let all the love and desire shine through the kiss. He wanted you to feel how much and how long he had wanted this. Dreamt of this. You broke from the kiss to breathe again.
“Would you maybe come back and listen to music with me again?” Eddie asked.
“I think it could be our tradition from now on. How does that sound?” You grinned.
Eddie beamed. Best Friday ever.
In the background, you could hear the lyrics to the song that made this all happen. He would forever be in depth to the three men of ZZ Top.

Pairing: Max Verstappen x reader
Summary: Inspiration from “ the “date” that isn’t really a date but feels like one “
A/N: I’ve had this in the draft for aaaages and lost all interest in fanfic writing for a while, broke up with my long-time boyfriend, moved, getting back on track and to the things I love again. But now I’m in love and happier than ever. SO I thought it would be fun to post this again. Not sure if I’ll write again but here you go! :)
Redbull had an annual dinner with all the employees at the end of the year. To your huge surprise, you got invited to the dinner. You hadn’t worked for Redbull for that long and you doubted that the ones who did the invitations knew your name or that you even worked there. But nonetheless, you were excited and looked for a suitable outfit as soon as you got the invitation. Which was like two month before the dinner was held, so you had been busy at the different shops in town and on the internet to find something suitable. It was your first dinner with the team and you wanted to look good. Maybe even impress a certain someone, if you got lucky he knew you existed.
A couple of weeks before the dinner, it was the only thing your colleagues would talk about besides work. The closer the date approached the more nervous you got about the event, but one of your friends tried to reassure you that it would be fun. It will be dinner, chatting, and some entertainment, nothing to worry about. She had been there before and said it was always super fun.
But when she mentioned that the event planners decided where you sit you got even more nervous. What if you get seated beside someone you don’t know? Or even worse someone important? Like Christian Horner or Max Verstappen?
Please God don’t let that happen, you had prayed.
It was not like you didn’t like Max, on the contrary. You felt yourself freeze whenever he entered the same room as you were in. You felt so stupid for reacting like this but you couldn’t help it. He was like a superstar in your eyes and incredibly talented, so it was hard to NOT get starstrucked. But fortunately - or maybe, unfortunately - for you, he was never really in your office, as he was always away on the races. But whenever you saw him at the headquarters you would blush and steal some glances at him. But you thought that he hadn’t even noticed your existence. He probably had some more important things and people to remember than you.
It was the night of the dinner and you were getting ready for the event. Your friend was picking you up later so you would arrive together. They had all been to this dinner before and it felt comforting to have them there to guide you. You took one last glance in the mirror before you got a text from your friend saying that they were outside. Your nerves got increasingly anxious the closer you got to the venue. Your leg was bouncing and you played with your fingers, trying your best to think about something else, but your friend tried their best to calm you down.
“It’s just a party. Nothing to worry about.”
“It doesn’t help with the million ‘what ifs’ that are running in my mind.” you answered.
“What kind of ‘what ifs’ is it?”
“What if I make a fool of myself? What if I have to sit next to someone important? What if I trip and fall?” you rambled and your friend laughed at you.
“The seating is nothing you need to worry about, you will be seated with your unit unless someone asks to be seated next to you.”
You let out a sigh of relief. Then there was nothing to worry about, this was just like a night out with your friends.
“Besides, the important ones won’t even notice us or bother to even try to talk to us. It will be a fun night with our group.” She said and smiled at you.
Your friend parked the car and the two of you entered the venue together. Someone at the entrance took your coats and then you followed your friend to a man that registered the names. He looked at you when it was your turn.
“Name?”
“(Y/N) (Y/L/N).”
He looked at the paper, dragging the finger alongside many names, and even changed the page to look for you there. The longer he looked the more worried you got, that maybe the invitation wasn’t meant for you. He then changed to a different list and lit up.
“Ah (Y/L/N). You have seat 34 later tonight, enjoy the evening.”
“Thank you.” You said and tried your best to mask the tremble in your voice. You walked up to your friend who had a worried expression on their face.
“What happened?”
“I don’t know I wasn’t on the first list so he had to look at another one and then he found me and told me that I have seat 34. Where are you sitting?”
“Wait 34?”
“Yes?”
“That’s a low number. I’m at 110, with the rest of our unit.”
“110?”
Your friend nodded and said it was strange, but you didn’t hear it. Your mind was spinning, all the nerves that had disappeared before you entered the dinner came back in full force. Before you could dwell on them for too long, there was a signal and all the guests started to move into the main room.
You took a deep breath and then followed them into the dining area. It was beautifully decorated, with flowers and light colors. You and your friend parted ways as you looked at the different numbers on the seats. Then you found your number, 34. Your name was written in gold on a white tag. You looked over to your side to see who you were seated next to. Your heart stopped beating for a second when you read the name.
Max Verstappen.
Oh no, you thought. Why am I seated next to him of all people?
You didn’t have time to dwell on it before you heard his voice behind you.
“Good evening.”
You turned around to see Max standing there. He looked so dashing in his smoking, which was odd to see him outside his racing overall. You could feel yourself staring at him and the realization made you blush.
“Good evening.” you said and hoped he didn’t notice your burning cheeks.
Max walked over to your seats and pulled out the chair for you. You thanked him and sat down. He sat down next to you.
“I’m Max Verstappen.” He said and held out his hand.
“I know.” you said and gave him a confused look. Like you wouldn’t know who he was, of course, you knew who he was.
“I’m (Y/N) (Y/L/N)”
“I know.” he said with a shy smile on his lips and shook your hand. A tint of pink was showing on his cheeks but he soon turned away from you.
You almost stopped breathing when he said that. Did he know who you were? How? Or was he messing with you?
You wanted to ask him but then the host of the evening entered and started talking in the microphone. He wanted to thank everybody for coming here tonight and later we would hear from Horner and the drivers on what they thought of the year. Applause roared from the seated guests when the host stopped talking and said we should enjoy the evening. You did the same and looked over at Max, who was smiling and turned to look at you as well. Your eyes met and you broke of the eye-contact as soon as your eyes met. It felt like an electrical shock that went through your body when your eyes met. You blushed again. A waiter served you your appetizer and some champagne. You thanked them and now you could focus on your food and drink instead of Max Verstappen. If he hadn’t had other plans.
“How are you tonight, (Y/N)?”
You froze with your champagne glass at your lips but you had to take one sip to survive this conversation. You put the glass down and smiled.
“I’m good, a little nervous but otherwise fine.”
You had no idea why you were this honest. Max smiled at your response.
“Nervous? Why?”
“I have never been to a dinner this big before, so it’s a little nervous. And I’m quite new here so I didn’t even think that I would get invited.”
“Of course, you’re an employee here and you should be invited. Like you’ve been tonight.” he rambled. He seemed nervous somehow. But you clearly were imagining things if you thought Max Verstappen would be nervous over a dinner party. You sipped your champagne again and felt that you relaxed more and more as the evening continued. You and Max continued to talk throughout the evening and it became much easier and more comfortable to talk to him. He made you laugh several times. You looked around the room and caught eye contact with your friend as she and the rest of your unit sat in the back, together. She mouthed to you ‘good job’ and a thumbs up. You blushed but you didn’t know why. It was like this was a date or anything.
Then it hit you. How did you end up here? Next to him?
As your friend said they needed to ask to have someone be seated next to them if it isn’t in the unit. Max was talking to someone else when you turned to him. But when you were about to ask him, he was about to go up on stage to talk about the year. He rose from his seat and passed by you, not without touching your shoulder with his hand. Your breath got stuck in your throat when he did it. The heat his hand left on your shoulder lingered for way longer than you would like to admit. But it was because all your focus shifted to that area. You liked how it felt. But you fixed your gaze at the stage to watch Max and Sergio talk about the year and commend the work of everybody in here.
“If it weren’t for you we would’ve never won the championship as a team and I wouldn’t have become world champion. It is all thanks to everyone in here.” Max said and raise his glass. “To you all, thank you.”
Everyone in the room raise their glasses and some shouted that they were the best team. Max looked over at you and winked. But you once again thought that your mind was playing tricks with you. So you brushed it off. He came down from the stage and sat down next to you again. He smiled brightly at you and without you noticing, he put his chair a little closer to yours. Almost as close so your knees were touching. Which made Max grin slightly.
After the speeches the tables were to be removed to have a party in the main room, but you and Max still sat at your seats, engulfed in the conversation you were having. Max arm was resting on the back of you chair and you had, without noticing, scootched closer to him as the night progressed. But you still had that question nagging at the back of your head.
“Can I ask you a question, Max?”
“Sure.”
“Why was I seated next to you? I don’t belong with your unit or anywhere near where I was seated.”
Max had hoped that this question wouldn’t come up, but deep down he knew. You had to wonder why and he understood. The fact is that, he had asked for you to be invited and for you to be seated next to him, as a way for him to finally have a chance to talk to you, properly. Not just five minutes in the office or a small ‘hello’ when passing by. He wanted to get to know you and his growing crush on you hadn’t stopped after tonight. It had deepend and he was head over heels in love at this moment. Frankly, he already was the first time you had said hello to him, but he tried his best to ignore it and rationlized it as him being stressed over the races, but it was a lie.
“Ehmm… Well…” He started and rubbed the back of his neck, feeling his cheeks turn bright red the longer he waited to answer.
“It was because I asked them to.”
Your jaw dropped to the floor. You tried your best to come up with a response but you just ended up looking like a fish on dry land. So Max continued.
“I wanted to get to know you, not just the hellos in the hallway or the cold talk, the real you.”
“Oh.”
“So, that’s why I wanted you here. But also because I think you are great and even greater now that I have gotten to know you.”
He wanted to slap himself. Why was this so hard?
You smiled at him.
“Well, thank you. I hope you weren’t disappointed.”
“No, how could I be?”
You froze at his statement but soon melted again. He on the other hand was a blushing mess. Which you found even more adorable than anything else.
“I was nice to get to know you to Max. The real Max, and not only hearing about you. I hope to get to know you more.” you smiled, begging that he would get the hint. His shocked expression and blinking eyes told you he did.
“You want to know me more? I mean, you want to meet again?”
“I would love to.”
“Then I would be a real date.” Max beamed.
You heard your friends call for you that it was time to leave.
“I had an amazing night. Thank you for making it happen.”
“Of course. Anytime.”
You were about to leave but got a bold thought in your head that you had to act on. You gently grabbed his shoulder and kissed his cheek.
“Until next time.” You said and walked towards the exit. You tried your best not to squeal out of excitement and adrenaline over what you just had done. But it was extremely difficult. You friend question you about everything that night and you were like a lovesick highschooler on cloud nine.
Max had no response for you and he had stood frozen on the exact same spot for quite some time after you had left. He touched his cheek with a boyish grin on his face and a could only repeat one sentence in his head.
Warning: Still ANGSTYYYY, Eddie is grieving but reader is not dead, some MORE pining, both Steve and Eddie are in love with you. Everyone's worried about reader and everyone is scared of Vecna. Nothing too scary, everyone is fine.
Pairing: Eddie Munson x f!reader, and Steve Harrington x f!reader
Summary: You are stuck in the Upside Down together with Vecna and the group is trying to get you back, in the end they have to split up, so which guys gets to save you?
Word count: 2289
A/N: Eddie's not a suspected murderer but some of the deaths have happened. I’m remaking the story a bit but using some plot points in the story. I'm really loving the story so far and this chapter is a bit more sorrowful than the others. Sorry about that. But it will have a happy ending and both a Steve and Eddie ending so you can choose which one you want, don't you worry!
| Part 1 | Part 2 | Eddie's ending | Steve's ending |
Back in the real world the group grieved. Max was inconsolable when she found out you had been left behind with Vecna. Now she was crying in Lucas’s arms. Steve paced anxiously back and forth in the trailer.
Eddie couldn’t breathe. His lungs didn’t know how to function. His heart was aching; it was the worst pain he had ever felt. He hadn’t saved you.
“We have to go back and save her.” Steve said.
“How?” Nancy asked. The gate through Eddie’s roof had closed and they had no idea how to get to the Upside Down, or where he kept you.
“Somehow! He must keep her in his house, we go there and get her back.”
“Steve, we need a better plan, we need to think…”
“We don’t have time!” He yelled. A sharp pain from his side shot up though his body making him groan out loud.
“And you need to rest and heal.” Nancy said.
Eddie went to his room to be alone. He put his hands over his face, trying to control the shaking but it didn’t work. You were gone. He couldn’t save you. He didn’t save you. He had failed you.
There was a light knock on the door and then Dustin entered the room.
“Hey, man.” He said gently.
“Hey.” Eddie answered back, his throat thick with sadness.
“I’m sorry about Y/N.”
Eddie fidgeted with his rings. “I-I should’ve kept her safe, she’s my best friend.”
His voice died down at the end. Dustin sat beside him.
“We don’t know that she is dead.”
Eddie gave him a look.
“For sure I mean, she could still be alive. Like Will was.”
Eddie gave Dustin a faint smile, but he didn’t dare to hope. It hurt too much to think - and to believe - that you were alive and then to be disappointed that you weren’t. He didn’t know if he would survive that.
-
Vecna had brought you to his house. It looked much nicer than it did in the real world. He left you there all alone. You had no idea where he went or what he was going to do to you now. Panic started to rise inside of you from the frightened and lonely state that you were in. You wanted to cry but tried your best not to. You dried one of the tears that managed to escape your eyes with the jacket sleeve. Eddie’s jacket. You wrapped it around you as close as you could and felt his scent. It broke you.
How were you to get out of here?
You put your hands in his pockets and dug around in it. You found some wrapping paper from some candy, lint, and a note. You opened it and saw your handwriting. It was when he had passed the history exam.
Congratulations rockstar!
I always knew you had a brain in there somewhere.
You are the best!
Love Y/N
The note made you smile. He kept this?
I have to get back, you thought to yourself. If it’s the last thing I do.
At some point you fell asleep from exhaustion. You didn’t know what time or day it was, but you started to wander around the room, hoping to find something that could help you escape. You opened the doors to a closet that was in one of the bedrooms and on the top shelf you saw a Walkie-Talkie. You took it down and it looked quite new. You pressed the button and heard static noises radiating from it.
It works, you thought. You tried the first channel, hoping someone in the real world could hear you.
“Anybody?” You whispered. “Dustin, over? Lucas?”
No answer. You tried a different frequency.
“Dustin, you there? Over.”
-
Dustin and Lucas were walking back to their places. Max was walking a little behind them, still blaming herself for you being caught by Vecna. It was dark outside. The trio passed Vecna’s house. Then Dustin’s Walkie-Talkie started to make weird sparkling noises.
“What the-…” said Dustin and picked it up from the backpack. It crackled and made all sorts of noises.
“Is it low on batteries?”
“I don’t think so, I changed them just three days ago.”
“Dus-…tin?” said a stuttering voice on the other side. “O-over?”
Dustin pressed the button. “Hello?”
“Dust-..in? I-is th-that… you?”
“Yeah? Who is this?”
Lucas put his ear as close as he could to the Walkie-Talkie.
“It’s me-…o-over…”
“Come again?”
“…/n-…”
Lucas' eyes widened. “It’s Y/N.”
Max sprinted up to them.
“Y/N? Is it you? Do you copy?” Dustin shouted into the Walkie-Talkie. There was no sound for a while. At some point they thought that they had lost the signal or imagined it all together.
“Y-yes. It-t-‘s me-…”
They all cheered.
“Where are you?”
“… Vecna… house-…”
They turned to the house on the other side of the road. They crossed the road quickly and went inside. The signal got stronger and they could hear much clearer now.
You were alive.
“We need to get the others.” Max said.
“You two stay here and talk to Y/N. Lucas give me your walkie. I go and get the others.” Dustin said. “I’ll get back here no matter what in the afternoon so we can come up with a plan to rescue her.”
Lucas gave Dustin his Walkie-Talkie and he rushed out of the house and rode his bike as fast as he could towards Eddie’s trailer. He had the Walkie-Talkie in his hand and tried to contact Steve.
“C’mon, pick up! I know you can hear me, Steve! It’s an emergency! A code red.” He yelled. “PICK UP!”
“What is it, Henderson?” Steve muttered on the other line.
“I need you and the others to get to Vecna’s old house. Right now!”
“Why?” Steve was not in the mood for the children’s antics right now. He was injured, in pain and heartbroken.
“Y/N reached out to us. She is alive!”
Steve took a deep breath. “Are you sure?”
“Yes, now hurry and get Nancy and Robin. I’m on my way to Eddie.”
“Okay.”
They hung up and Dustin parked his bicycle outside Eddie’s trailer and started banging on the door like a madman.
“EDDIE OPEN UP! IT’S DUSTIN!”
Eddie opened the door and looked like an absolute mess.
“What do you want Dustin?” he sighed. “I’m not in the mood right now.”
“You need to come with me, right now. Y/N reached out. She is alive. Steve and the others are on their way to Vecna’s house now. Please we have to go.”
Eddie’s mind froze. You were alive.
“If this is some kind of joke Henderson-…”
“It’s not, I swear, I would never joke about this.” He panted. “Please come with me.”
Eddie went outside and got his rusty old bike from behind the trailer. They rode towards the haunted house, and the rest of the group was already there. They went inside.
“Y/N, are you still there?” Lucas asked.
“You lost her?” Dustin asked.
“She went quiet for some time, Vecna maybe came back.” Lucas defended.
Eddie took the Walkie-Talkie.
“Y/N? Can you hear me?”
The silence was deafening. His heart was about to break again. Don’t do this. Don’t give me hope.
“Eddie?”
He heard your voice through the static. You were alive.
“Yeah, it’s me.” He beamed, but not for long. Steve took the Walkie-Talkie from his hand. Eddie swore he was going to murder him when all of this was over.
“Y/N, thank God, you’re alive. Where are you?”
“Steve! I’m at Vecna’s house. But it’s much nicer than the house in our world.”
“Is he nearby?”
“No, not anymore. I had to hide the Walkie-Talkie, so he didn’t suspect something.”
Everyone was so relieved that you were fine.
“We will find a portal and rescue you, okay? Stay put. Don’t do anything stupid.”
“Yeah, thank you, and Steve?”
“Yeah?”
“Please hurry.”
“We will. I got you, remember.”
Steve grinned and handed the Walkie-Talkie back to Lucas. Eddie wanted to vomit or break his neck, not only did he take the Walkie-Talkie from his hand and now he was grinning like you’d asked him personally to rescue you.
“Eddie?” You said quietly through the Walkie-Talkie. He sprinted and grabbed it as fast as he could.
“Yes, sweetheart.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Sorry for what?”
“I still have your jacket.”
He laughed at your comment. “Don’t worry. You can give it back to me when you return. You keep it safe, okay?”
“With my life.”
He grinned and handed the Walkie-Talkie back to Lucas. I hope you heard that Harrington.
“So how do we rescue her?” Nancy asked.
“Can we create a portal somehow? Like, with music?” Robin asked
“Like we did with Max!” Lucas said.
“If we play her favorite song loud enough in here, in the exact that she is in, maybe that could create a portal for her to walk through.” Dustin said.
“It’s worth a shot.” Nancy said.
“We need big speakers and her favorite song.”
“I’m on it.” Said Steve and Eddie at the same time.
“Eddie, you get the cassette and Steve you get the speakers.” Robin said. The two men sprinted out of the house.
“Men…” Robin sighed.
“Men in love.” Nancy corrected.
It didn’t take long for both Eddie and Steve to get back. They placed the speakers in the old living room and the boombox on a small table between them. They also brought the weapons they had had in the latest attempt to take Vecna down. Robin made some more Molotov cocktails, hoping this time that it would cause some damage to the monster.
“Okay, now we need to make sure she is in the right room.” Lucas said.
Dustin took the Walkie-Talkie.
“Y/N, do you copy?”
“Yes.” You said.
“Can you get to the living room?”
“I can try.”
“Is it safe for her to wander around like that?” Steve asked. “Is Vecna near? I mean she could get hurt.”
-
You heard Steve’s concern from the other end.
“Don’t worry about me, I’ll be careful.” You said into the Walkie-Talkie. You opened the bedroom door and looked around.
The house looked and sounded empty, so you started to walk carefully out of the room and down the stairs that led to the living room.
“I’m almost there.” You whispered to the Walkie-Talkie.
“Great!” Dustin said back.
On the other end, the group started to prepare for the portal to be opened, when you felt the hair on the back of your neck rise again.
“I see that you are awake.”
You turned around and there stood Vecna, but he looked like an ordinary man. Not the monster that had kidnapped you. You swallowed hard. You didn't answer him.
“Good to see that you are up and running.”
You tried your best to hide the Walkie-Talkie from him and begged to every deity in the sky that no one contacted you right now.
“What do you want from me? Why are you keeping me here?” you asked.
“All will be revealed in time.” He said and reached for your cheek with his hand but hesitated. He lowered his hand and was on his way to leave the room.
“Everything is ready Y/N.” Dustin said through the Walkie-Talkie.
Shit.
You closed your eyes and felt your heart drop to your stomach. Vecna’s eyes hardened and turned around and walked closer to you. You tried your best to hide the Walkie-Talkie behind your back but to no avail. He snatched it from your hands and pressed the button.
“I suggest that whatever you are planning will cease immediately, if you want to keep sweet Y/N alive.”
You swallowed again.
“The desition is yours.”
He crushed the Walkie-Talkie with his powers and let the pieces fall to the ground. Then he lifted you up with his powers, so you were hovering above the floor.
“Looks like I need to relocate us.”
But by some miracle, the Walkie-Talkie snapped up the last message as well before it died, sending it over to your friends.
-
The group fell silent over Vecna’s message.
“Shit, shit, shit, shit.” Said Dustin. “We fucked up.”
“Yeah, no shit? I told you this wasn’t safe.”
“We had to try, Steve.”
“Do we think…” Max started but her voice died down at the end. She didn't dare to voice her concern or even think about it.
“No, I don’t think she’s dead.” Nancy answered. “He needs her for something, and he probably needs her alive.”
“What was the last word we heard? Did he say relocate?” Lucas asked
“I sounded like that.” Dusin said.
“I don’t think we were meant to hear that last part. So, that gives us an advantage. He may have destroyed our only communication with her, but we know that they are relocating.” Nancy said.
“Or are they?” Robin asked. “It could be a ruse. Maybe they are still in the house.”
“Tricking us to move.” Dusin said.
“Exactly.”
“But if he moved her.” Eddie started. “How do we find her?”
The group thought for a while and then Dustin lit up. “My radio tower.”
They all looked at him dumbfounded, and he explained.
“It can reach long distances without problem, so if we connect music to it, it can be heard throughout Hawkins, making it possible for her to find us, not the other way around.”
Dustin beamed with pride and continued. “All we need is speakers and another boombox and a cassette with her favorite song on to play over there, while some of you play it here, if they are still in this building.”
“I stay here” Steve said. “In case she is still in the house.”
“I go with you Dustin.” Eddie said.
The group split so Eddie and Dustin went to the radio tower and the rest stayed put.
One of them would get you back, the question was just which one?
Warning: Vecna dies
Pairing: Eddie Munson x f!reader
Summary: Eddie's happy ending to the Vecna's curse story. I hope you'll enjoy it!
Word count: 1920
A/N: Nothing really I'm happy that the series is well received :). This ending was written before the season finally of Stranger Things.
| Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Steve's ending |
Vecna still had you hovering above the ground as he made his way through the house. You were terrified of what was about to happen now. You had made him angry, maybe he would kill you as soon as you left the building. You looked down at the jacket. Eddie’s jacket. Your mind started to think back on all the memories you had together with him and the others.
You and Eddie on top of his van looking at the stars one summer night. You and Steve eating ice-cream in the new mall that opened two years ago. You hanging out with Nancy and Robin in Nancy’s room, waiting for Eddie to come and pick you up. Robin giving you the look that you just brushed off. All of them saving you from Vecna the last time. Steve catching you when you fell through the roof. Eddie’s eyes when you saved them.
You looked down at the jacket again.
“You keep it safe, okay?”
“With my life.”
You had to fight. You had to get back.
The memories made you feel stronger, and you could feel Vecna’s grip on you loosen. He turned to face you, but he didn’t scare you anymore. Not like he did in the beginning.
“There is a reason you keep me at a distance isn’t there?” you asked.
He didn’t answer.
“You’re afraid of me.”
Silence.
“Why?”
“You have a unique set of powers, similar to mine but also the opposite of mine.”
You looked at him confused. But then you thought back to when he touched you the first time. He had turned back to a human. His hand and arm had changed. He saw what you were thinking.
“Then I was right, you are afraid of me.”
“I need your powers to complete my plan.”
“No, you don’t.”
He clenched his jaw. “I thought you had similar powers to Eleven, but I was mistaken.”
“And this mistake will cost me my life?”
He didn’t answer.
“That’s all I needed to know.”
You didn’t want it to end like this, you couldn't. You wanted to live. The grip loosened even more, and you fell to the ground with a thump. Vecna looked at you surprised. You quickly got on your feet and sprinted towards him. He didn’t have time to react, and you gripped his head with your hands, turning him back to a normal person. Powerless.
“You will let me go.”
“No.”
“You will never hurt anybody again.”
“NO!”
“You will leave me and my friends alone.”
He groaned louder and louder and you could see cracks starting to form on his head where your fingers were. You were breaking him literally and metaphorically. He tried to break free but couldn't. He scratched your hands and your arms. He even got a hit in your face which left a wound, but you held on. Like your fingers were glued to his face. Blood started to stream down the cut he made.
“Let me go!” you screamed.
“NOO!”
He screamed out in agony and then a black smoke like cloud flew out of his mouth and away in the air. With it, it took all of Vecna’s powers and Vecna turned to dust, similar to the particles that floated around in the air in the Upside Down.
You looked at your hands. You had done it. You had defeated Vecna all by yourself. The silence in the room felt deafening. But how were you to get out of here?
You went outside the house to look around. The Upside Down was still as dark as when you entered the first time. No light. No sun. Just endless darkness as long as you could see. You felt cold and brought the jacket closer to you and you could smell Eddie’s scent in the leather. It was getting fainter.
Eddie, please find me.
You started to wander around on the streets. It was quiet. No demon-bats. No demagorgon. Everything felt eerie quiet.
-
Dustin and Eddie had arrived at the radio tower with the equipment that they needed. They had installed it to the tower and Eddie had the cassette with your favorite song on it. He had kept the original one that you had gifted him; there was no way he was letting Harrington get that one.
“Ready?” Dustin asked.
“Ready.” Eddie nodded and he put the cassette tape in the boombox and hit play. Your song was blasting through the neighborhoods in Hawkings.
“C’mon, Y/N. Find your way back to me, sweetheart.” Eddie muttered. Dustin smirked at his comment.
“Best friend huh?”
“Shut up, Henderson.”
“I’m just saying…”
“What?”
“It’s quite obvious that you like her more than a best friend.”
“Hmppfff.”
Dustin gave him a knowing look.
“She has my jacket.” Eddie said, trying to hide his emotion the best he could. Dustin just shook his head at Eddie’s feeble attempt. But he could feel his heart pound in his chest, he was feeling hopeful. Like you were close to him and he actually dared to believe that you would make it back to him.
C'mon sweetheart, find your way back to me.
-
You had reached a different neighborhood when you heard it. A loud, but a little muffled, sound. Your favorite song, and it was playing on top of the hill.
Dustin’s radio tower.
You hurried towards the sound but didn’t have to go far as a portal started to form bellow the hill. You could see Eddie and Dustin standing on top of the hill. Dustin was looking around and Eddie was squatting by the boombox. You felt tears stream down your face and a laugh escape from your lips.
He found you. He had saved you again.
You hurried towards the portal before it had time to disappear and entered the real Hawkings. For the first time in months, even years, you could breathe easily. Vecna was gone. He couldn’t hurt you anymore and you were back in the real world again.
You turned around towards the hill. They hadn’t seen you.
You started to move towards the hill and the closer you got the faster your pace became.
“Eddie!” you shouted.
He couldn’t hear you through the music. But Dustin saw someone running towards them.
“Y/N?” he said and it caught Eddie’s attention. He rose from his spot and looked where Dustin was looking. It was you.
“Eddie!” you screamed again and he went off like a rabid dog. He had never run this fast in his life, almost tripping over his own feet. The music still played but Dustin turned down the volume.
When you reached him, you almost jumped in his arms. Your chest collided with his and you hugged him as hard as you could. He stumbled a bit but regained his balance quickly. He held you like his life depended on it. Like he would break if he let go.
“You’re here.” He panted and caressed the back of your head. “You’re here.”
It felt like a dream to hold you again.
“You found me.” You sobbed. “You saved me.”
You broke the hug to look at him. Your hands found his cheeks and caressed them with your thumbs.
“You are my hero, rockstar.”
He laughed but didn’t break eye contact. It almost felt too good to be true. His hands found your cheeks as well. His warm hands felt like heaven.
“You are really here.”
He had tears in his eyes. You nodded and the tears poured down your cheeks.
“It’s a good thing I gave you that cassette.”
His forehead met yours.
“Please, don’t ever do that to me again, ever, sweetheart. I was so scared that I was never going to see you again. You have no idea how scared I was.”
“I’m sorry. I won’t do it again, I promise. Besides, I made you a promise I couldn’t break.”
You broke free from him to take off the jacket and handed it to him.
“Just like when you lent it to me.”
He laughed and took it from you. You looked at him.
“You kept the note I gave you when you passed the history test in senior year.” You stated, which caught Eddie off guard. He felt a blush creep on his cheeks.
“Yeah.” He scratched the back of his neck.
“Why?”
“W-well, because… It made me happy and it was from you. The most important person in my life.”
You felt your stomach do a flip.
“Eddie-“
“I know it’s a massive cliché. But it’s the truth.” He said and looked down at his feet. “You truly are.”
You put your hand on his cheek again and now you didn’t want to wait any longer. You became sure of your feelings in the Upside Down. You leaned in and kissed him on the lips. Eddie froze in shock over the interaction. His mind couldn’t comprehend what was happening, but he soon melted into the kiss, grabbing your waist to pull you closer to him.
From the top of the hill, you could hear a celebratory scream and clapping from Dustin. Who shouted something along the lines of finally. You laughed and broke away from Eddie’s lips.
“I wanted to do that for a while now.” You whispered.
“Me too, god, you have no idea how long I’ve been wanting to kiss you.”
You smiled.
“Eddie, when we were in the Upside Down, I was about to tell you something before Vecna appeared.”
“I remembered.”
“I wanted to tell you that when you guys brought me back the first time, before I heard the music, I heard you. Your voice. You really were the one to save me.”
He beamed. “So, I’m truly your hero?”
“You always have been.”
You kissed again but with more hunger and passion. Like Eddie was making up for the time he had been yearning and pining after you. All the longing glances he had given you and small touches you had given him. But nothing could last forever as Dustin soon made his way to you and gave you the biggest hug.
“Did you get an answer what Vecna wanted with you?” he asked.
“Yes, and no, he wanted me for a plan, but I wasn’t really what he thought I was.”
“What do you mean?”
“Apparently, I have powers, and he thought they were similar to the ones Eleven has, but mine were quite different. I could remove his powers with my touch, so I did and eventually it killed him. Vecna is truly gone.”
“Woaah, cool.” Dustin said.
You all made it back to Vecna’s house and everyone attacked you with tight hugs. Max was so relieved that you were okay and Steve was holding on to you for a little too long and a little too tight, in Eddie’s opinion.
“I’m so glad you’re okay.” Steve said and let go of you.
“Thank you, Eddie and Dustin saved me.” You beamed at them but mostly Eddie and Steve saw the look you were giving him and understood. You weren’t interested in him; your heart belonged to Eddie. He nudged your side.
“I’m happy for the two of you.” He said.
You blinked and then you felt a blush creep on your cheeks.
“Thank you.”
You explain what had happened in the Upside Down and said that Vecna was gone so they were all safe. Then you joined Eddie’s side and the two of you walked out of the house.
“Where we off to?” you asked.
“As long as I’m with you, wherever you want to go, sweetheart.”
Your heart fluttered at the nickname. You grabbed his collar and pulled him for a kiss.
“Your trailer then? I feel like we have some alone time to catch up with.”
He smirked. “I love the sound of that.”
He put an arm around your shoulders and drew you closer to him.
"I love you. I have for the longest time, Y/N."
"I love you too, Eddie. I always have and I always will."

Just as Eddie and Dustin left, Steve hurried to the store to buy the same cassette that Eddie had gotten from you. Fortunately, from him, the store was nearby and still open. He bought the cassette and drove back to the house again.
“I got the cassette.”
“So, when do we try again with the portal?” Robin asked.
Steve shifted his weight from one leg to another.
“We do it now.”
“Now?”
“Yes! Maybe she is in trouble? Maybe they haven’t left the house yet? I’m sick and tired of waiting, I’m going to get her back. Now.”
Steve put the cassette in the boombox pressed play. He looked around the room for the portal to appear.
C’mon, Y/N, you can do it.
-
You were still hovering above the ground and Vecna was about to leave with you to a different location. You were certain that he was mad at you and now you were dead. He was going to kill you.
“What do you want from me?”
“I need you for my plan.” He stated.
“For what plan? And why me?”
“You have powers that I need to fulfill my plans.” He said.
“Why are you keeping me at a distance?”
His jaw clenched. You gave him a curious look.
“Is there a reason?”
He didn’t answer. But then you thought back to when he touched you the first time. He had turned back to a human. His hand and arm had changed. He saw what you were thinking about and that you were onto him.
“There is a reason isn’t there. You can’t be near me.”
He didn’t answer again. But you started to understand, you scared him.
“Am I right?”
His nostrils flared.
“AM I RIGHT?”
“Yes!” He said with a booming voice. “I thought you had the same powers as Eleven, but I was wrong. They are quite different from mine and hers.”
“And now you are going to kill me for it?”
He didn’t answer and looked down at the ground. That was all you needed, you knew for sure that you were right now.
You didn’t want it to end like this; you couldn’t let it end like this. You wanted to get back to your friends, to your best friend, to your… Steve. That was the first time that you had confessed to yourself what you felt. You loved him. You always had in some way, but it got worse now that he was paying attention to you.
You had to get back to him. You had to tell him.
The thought of him and everyone you held dear made the grip that Vecna had on you loosen and you could almost move your limps. The will to live and love made you stronger until you were almost free. Then, you heard it, your favorite song was blasting through the living room and soon a portal was forming beside you.
From the other side you saw Steve and the others. You smiled with tears in your eyes.
You were completely free from Vecna now and you sprinted towards him. But you soon saw the horrified look in Steve's eyes and turned around to find Vecna coming towards you again. You stopped. You weren't afraid of him anymore. This would end here.
“NO!” Steve screamed and went through the portal to save you.
You ran towards Vecna and grabbed his head and he started to turn back to a normal person. Powerless.
Steve stopped in his tracks and looked at you with a shocked expression.
“You won’t hurt me anymore.”
Vecna groaned.
“You will leave me and my friends alone; you will leave us all alone.”
“No!”
His head started to form cracks where you held your fingers. You turned to Steve. You didn’t pay attention to Vecna’s left hand that shoved one of his clawlike fingers in your side. You groaned out in pain and in the distance, you could hear Steve scream, but you didn’t let go. Your fingers were glued to his head.
“You’re not escaping me now. This is the end of you.”
“NOO!”
He screamed out in agony and then a black smoke like the mindflayer flew out of his mouth and away in the air. With it, it took all of Vecna’s powers and Vecna turned to dust, similar to the particles that floated around in the air in the Upside Down.
You looked at your hands. You had done it. You had defeated Vecna all by yourself. It was all over.
But then you felt the pain and the blood from your side. Steve was soon by your side.
“Steve.” You groaned.
“Don’t worry, darling. I got you.” He said and picked you up bridal style and hurried towards the portal.
“I need bandages!” He yelled when he came back. Lucas turned off the music and Nancy hurried out to Steve’s car to get a first aid kit he had in his trunk.
“Hey, Y/N, stay with me, yeah?”
“Steve-“ you started.
“It can wait until you’re healed.”
“Thank you for saving me.”
“Anytime. Anything for you.” He whispered and held you tight in his arms.
Nancy came in with the first aid kit and soon Steve patched you up, just like you did with him in the Upside Down.
When the bleeding stopped the two of you sat quietly on the couch. Lucas called Dustin to tell them you were back and that they needed to get back here.
You looked at him.
“Steve.” You started and put your hand on his cheek. He leaned into the touch and grabbed your hand with his.
“I’m sorry for leaving you here. I’m sorry for scaring you.”
“Hey, hey. It’s okay. You’re here now.”
You smiled. “It was the thought of getting back to you that made me break free from Vecna’s grasp.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, and… and my feelings for you.”
Steve stopped breathing for a second. “Your feelings?”
“I realized how much you meant to me. Especially when you got hurt by the demon-bats.”
Steve cupped your cheeks.
“You have no idea how much I love you, Y/N.”
He closed the space and kissed you with such devotion and passion. He never wanted the feeling of your lips to ever stop. He wanted to taste them until the end of time. He pulled you closer and you winced a bit from the fresh wound on your side.
“Sorry.”
“No worries.” You smiled. “I love you too, Steve.”
Max went up to you and hugged you as tightly as she could. She was so happy that you were back and that you were alive. You reassured her that you wouldn’t change a thing if it meant that she was safe.
Dustin and Eddie came through the door, and you made your way to them as fast as you could with your wounded side. You hugged Dustin and then your best friend tight. Steve gave Eddie a death glare.
“I’m sorry about your jacket.”
“No worries, you held your promise and got it back to me.” He said and let go of you. You handed him his jacket back.
You smiled at him. “I did.”
You turned to Steve, who slowly made his way towards you. Eddie looked at you and then at Steve and realized. You had confessed your feelings to Steve. He nudged your side.
“Hey, whatever happens, you are still my best friend. Whoever you love.”
You could cry happy tears. “Thank you.”
You hugged him again and then made your way to Steve who put an overprotective arm around your shoulders, and, just because he could, removed his jacket and put on your shoulders before putting his arms back where it was before.
Then you explained that Vecna was gone because you had killed him. Everything was back to normal again. The group gathered around you and gave you a big group hug.
You and Steve left the house and got to his car.
“Where do you want to go?” He asked.
“To your place. To shower and watch a movie.”
“Anything for you. Always.” He said and winked at you. You laughed and cupped his cheek.
