❛   eva ... are you alright?   ❜   now that they had finally managed to save her and bring her back safe and sound. he never had the moment to ask her if there was anything bothering her, or if there was something, anything he could do to help her. after all, he was sure that the whole ordeal was taxing on her.    ❛   are you feeling any different? ... here.   ❜   alongside his question, jack held out a single blood bead to her before he sat down next to her.    ❛   i’m sure you need the energy to get back out there, right?   ❜

            a glance is cast in her direction; a venus, with a voice of audible velvet. the offer lingers in the air for a moment, dichromatic hues unblinking as he gazes ‘pon her - one similar to himself, caught in the throes of a fate that had set to destroy them … and they had bounced back from. a quiet inhale, followed by an even softer exhale.

            “ … and i thank you for that , miss roux , ” comes his response, resounding with a cold sort of neutrality, yet tinged with gratitude that sweetens his words and relieves the residual sting of his overwhelming introversion; “ you are kind . i should hope it never comes to that point , but i will graciously accept your assistance if it occurs . ”

He listens intently at her explanation, hand on his chin with that pensive look he always wore when he was deep in thought. He’d read many a book on the language of flowers, their meanings, and-- well... Right now, with how dry and dead the world around them was, it gave him something to look forward to. Though, at her question, he pauses for a moment, then tilts his head.

“ I’m not sure what you mean by ‘interested in someone’ -- I AM interested in you, that is, how you’ve come to learn so much about flowers. I used to research them a lot when I was a human, but... a lot of that knowledge went with my memories. “

they sit in silence for the longest of time until eva finally breaks it, kind smile on her lips. ' what sort of foods do you like, kaede? '

    Surprise flits onto her face at the other’s question, clearly not expecting it.  She looks up from the book in her lap and towards the other with a thoughtful look.  Food–it hadn’t really been something she thought about much or tried.  With the small snacks and alcoholic drinks she ate with Yakumo there wasn’t really any that stood out.  

   “I think I’m starting to like onigiri. I haven’t tried much foods.”  She replies with a shrug.  “Do you have any foods you like, Eva?”

          how many times has he heard those exact words already? too many to count, more so with its many variations & inflections, most tones filled with concern  &  others with annoyance at his habits  &  will to continue forward despite the danger --  &  his health. normally, without a second thought, in fact, zyre would give a smile of reassurance, with a hint of defiance in it, turn back to the path  &  continue on. 

          ( whether or not it was a good idea, was a 20/80 chance. leaning towards the bad. )

          he was  RECKLESS.  easily distracted  &  often runs off without the others, finding either trouble or something useful,  &  he was aware of it all. but it was a habit with a death grip on him  ( quite literally. ) it’s something he can’t seem to rid himself of, no matter how he tries. 

          &  so, he should, as he would, disregard eva’s worry. give her a smile  &  a shrug, turn on his heel & continue on with that stupid giddiness of his.  ...... but he doesn’t. something about the thought of doing it makes him feel the heavy strike of guilt on his conscious,  &  her soothing voice doesn’t help to bring his energy back either. it soothes him, calms his tense muscles  &  puts his mind at ease. 

          ... he supposes he could. maybe just this once. rubbing the back of his head, eyes glance away quickly from eva,  &  after a moment he  SIGHS  in defeat.
