Character Intro

Harper King

27 // he/him // nblm and ace

Physical description: 6′5, slender, with straight blonde hair down to his waist. Dresses like a cross between a feral university professor and a 1920s femme fatale - think dark academic, who hasn’t slept in a week, wearing a satin dress, and you’re most of the way there. Keeps his hair up most of the time, but it’s too fine to really stay up, and there’s always strands hanging out. Steals Niko’s hoodies because she’s the only other person anywhere near his height and they’re still too short on him. Only lady in this book who can run in heels.

Personality: Intellectual, high-strung, snappish. Tired all the time. Wine aunt, who would really rather be at home with a book instead of being in the middle of an active shoot-out, Niko. Holds grudges for a very long time. Tries to stay rational in a crisis, but has a habit of going “oh, fuck it” and improvising wildly when things go wrong.

Abilities: Wind manipulation

Background: After escaping New Deva and Cassandra’s killings at seventeen, he took over most of  Niko’s upbringing while Victor supported the trio financially. This continued on for three years, until Victor saw an opportunity revenge and left, breaking off their relationship along the way. After that, Harper opened a bookshop as a front (falling in love with literature along the way) and taught himself hacking, funnelling information to Victor through a pseudonym. When Niko decided she wanted to become a vigilante, Harper supported her - on the condition that he go with her to help. Victor still doesn’t know that they’re there in the city, but Harper is used to staying in the shadows, and after seven years, what’s another few months apart?
