“HAPPY HALLOWEEN, HARPOOLE BAY!!”
What: Halloween at Harpoole Bay Where: Main Street, St. Paul’s Church, Elmore Woods & Red River, The Harbor Hotel When: Saturday 29th, till Monday October 31st.
;; WHAT’S HAPPENING AT THE FESTIVAL
The last weekend is the celebration of Halloween! Main street, St. Paul’s Church, and Elmore Woods are all getting ready for you! From now till the 29th, don’t be alarmed if you see people working diligently to ready the town. Everything from vendors bustling to get everything together for their booths, to shop owners decorating and buying out the town’s candy for trick-or-treaters, Harpoole is flooded with people working!
NOTE: Trick-or-Treating in all areas of Harpoole runs from 6 PM till 8 PM. After 8 PM no more doorbells should be rung, or shop fronts entered for candy.
Main Street
Vendors have dotted main street once again with their wares, though fewer than there were in the Autumn Fest. Baked goods of pumpkin spice, and chocolates- shaped like bats, eyeballs, skulls, and the like are available to buy, along with costume vendors, and some cool games of “what body part is in the box”. (Hint: it’s probably peeled grapes or wet spaghetti). Most everyone who’s feeling the spirit are beginning to decorate their shop fronts with varying cute-to-scary decors. This year, Maine Street is even doing Trick-Or-Treating! Feel free to pop by any store’s shop that has a sign indicating they’re participating for some candy! ⇨ Bertie’s has made a whole desert menu Halloween themed. Make sure those are fake spiders in your soup.
St. Paul’s Church
St. Paul’s church will be opening their grounds to a pumpkin vendor and face painting- fifty percent of proceeds will be going to St. Paul’s church, so go pick out the best pumpkin! It being a good cause is a great excuse! Near the church door will be a table with candy, hot chocolate, and apple cider. Please, do try to not spike it. This is a church, after all. The pumpkins will arrive October 20th. There will be a children’s costume contest on Halloween in the early afternoon, before the children get to Trick-or-Treating.
Tall Oaks; Elmore Woods & Red River
The edge of Elmore Woods and the bridge over the Red River are being decorated with ghosts and lights. Though it is illuminated, do not be surprised if you are... surprised by people jumping out in costume. Elmore Woods will once again have the Haunted House in the old abandon house on the edge of the woods- This goes on all weekend. Unfortunately, the maze will not be done this year. Please, if you would like to volunteer and help set up/work in the Haunted House, do so by contacting Sean. (Or, just showing. Really, just show up.) Again, there will be cider and candy.
The Harbor Hotel
The Harbor Hotel will be holding the first ever Harpoole Costume Contest on Halloween, courtesy of a very special surprise guest. There will be drinks, and finger foods. This is adult-friendly. Call it the adults’ trick-or-treating. Choose between regular cider, and drunken cider. Indulge in candy. Buy some food. All the vendors have complimentary candy since you had to watch kids get it all day, and give it away. There will be other games- bobbing for apples, corn hole, etc, for you to indulge in as well.
If you’re not feeling the party vibe, or want somewhere to go when the Hotel begins to die down- I’m sure someone will be holding a bonfire down on the beach!

;; OOC & GAME INFORMATION
The core of this event will take place for three days, from Saturday 29th October right though to the end of Monday 31st October. HOWEVER, feel free to mention your characters decorating for the event today or talking about pumpkin picking starting October 20th. This way, everyone has a chance to get thinking. You’re all invited to plot with your fellow members for the duration of the event and post open starters with the tag used for the last Halloween event: harpoolehalloween (you can also use the standard harpevent tag). Use this time to plot with people you haven’t before and get new conversations going. The event is for the whole town, so there’s no reason why character a can’t bump into character b.
Please remember, if you plan for anything super dramatic during the event will take place, that you still need to run it via the admin first.
The new starter rules apply here!!!
EVENT-CENTRIC STARTERS are to be tagged with the EVENT-SPECIFIC tag! NOT the harpstarter tag! This is to prevent confusion after the event is over, and make it easier for people who decide to put threads on pause for the event.
Speaking of the last Halloween event, it’s here. I tried to make this loosely based off of the last event, so that the continuity department doesn’t bite us. The characters who have been here longer than a year, and the natives are welcome to talk about it.
You’re still welcome to play things outside of the event if you wish to, but this will be our primary focus for this weekend and we hope you’ll all want to get involved. It’s up to you if you choose to leave replying to your current threads until after the event is over or not.
In addition to this event, we will be sending out tasks and/or prompts to those of you who like this post. If you have side blogs, please message the main if you want them included. If you have any ideas for this for your character (or maybe even others), but don’t know how to get them rolling- let us know! To avoid complications and plot problems, these will be very simple, will be up to your discretion to bend and be creative with, and completely and totally optional.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please message us!
Have so much fun! Happy Halloween!
