As a small child Hippodamia thought horse Harpina was her actual grandma who was transformed into a horse.
I'm so interested about Harpina and Oenomaus relationship like from Oenomaus side, its obvious or at least implied that he clearly loves her, after all, he names a city and a horse after her. But what about Harpina side? I like to think she is emotionally cold (probably trauma after Ares assaulted her) towards him, but Oenomaus still loves her because she was all he ever had when growing up. Even if she is cold and looks at him with dead eyes, she still raised him, made sure he was well-fed, clothed, educated (in the sense that she taught him things herself), and generally well cared for when nobody ever would and tried that he lived comfortably, Oenomaus probably has codependency issues and a complex toward his mother and project those issues onto his daugther Hippodamia.
“Ares is the ONLY Greek god to not have single myth stating or even IMPLYING that he assaulted anyone!”
Harpina and Phylonome:
“Ares doesn’t have any myths where he assaulted women” look up Harpina and Phylonome.
What if Hippodamia looked like Harpina
Can we also stop saying Ares never sexually assaulted anyone? I've seen at least two well sources posts that show that he did rape women.
Harpina and Phylonome especially stick out to me. Phylonome was a followers of Artemis and likely would’ve preferred to remain a virgin and Ares had no reason to disguise himself as shepherd. Harpina’s sisters are all said to be kidnapped and raped by the gods and there is no reason to think Ares didn’t kidnap Harpina as well.
Just bc the word “rape” isn’t used doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
