“You do this every time. You start drama and all these fights and then you decide to play the victim!” Tom yelled at you. You and tom were at each other’s throats again. Constantly bickering over the littlest things, but always putting it past each other; being the fourth youngest Holland child, you were close with all of your siblings.
However, this time, this fight, was different. You had a feeling you and Tom were not gonna be able to come down from this.
“I just want to hang out while you’re home, Tommy. You're always with Harrison or some slut you find at a party, whose name you won’t even remember. I never get to see you and I miss you, ya know?” you say, fighting the tears that were bound to spill out of your eyes.
Tom scoffed at your reply. “You're always with your friends, you’re the one whose never home, and when you are home, you’re always cooped up in your room. Don’t play that shit with me.” he rolled his eyes, trying to get to his bedroom with Harrison hot on his trail.
“Tom’s right, Y/N. You’ve also been kind of a bitch lately. Maybe try fixing your attitude of yours and he’ll want to hang out with you.” Harrison smirked, and walked into Tom’s room.
To say you were shocked, is an understatement. You have always seen Harrison as another older brother, and hearing him say that to you, hurt. If not your brother, Harrison was always there for you, through everything.
Shocked and hurt, you decided to just leave them be so you can all cool down. You sat on your bed, quiet sobs escaping you as you heard your brother and his best friend talk about you in the other room. Deciding to do something productive, you started picking out outfits for your best friend’s party tonight. Your best friend, Kait, was 17 today, and what better way to celebrate than to have a few close friends together for drinks, right?
Deciding on a sheer black top, a bralette to wear underneath, and ripped blue jeans, you decided to do your makeup and pack your overnight bag so you wouldn't have to come home drunk and disturb your family.
While doing your makeup, you texted Kait and asked her to bring double the amount of alcohol for you, since you were wanting to forget about everything that's happened today. You gave no fucks, and you weren’t even coming home tonight, so what's the big deal?
You were wearing more makeup than you usually do, and your outfit was a bit outside your comfort zone, so when you walked downstairs and saw Sam, Harry and Paddy shoot you daggers, you weren't really surprised.
“Where you headed to?” Harry asked, arms crossed.
“Why do you care?” You asked, not ready to deal with your other brothers.
“We don’t, we just wanna know why you’re not apologizing to Tom after today, and why you’re running away from your problems.” Sam grinned, joining his twin brother. You stared at them both, in shock. Sure, Harrison was a little rude to you, but Sam and Harry? You didn’t expect it from them.
You were about to say something, until you heard Kait’s car outside.
“Just tell mum I'll be staying at a friends tonight” you muttered, before leaving.
“You seem like you need a destressor.” Kait laughed, as you got in the passenger seat of her car.
‘Tell me about it. Did you get it?” You inquired about your alcohol.
“Yup. 12 pack and a litre of vodka. Should be enough for you, right?”
“It’s perfect.”
Five hours, ten drinks, and half a bottle of vodka later, you found yourself on top of your friend, Hanna’s back, taking pictures. To say you were wasted, was an understatement. You could barely walk, let alone talk.
“Jazzy, please take more-more pictures of me and-and Han” You slurred, laughing like a maniac.
All of a sudden, you hear a vague “watch out”, followed by a hard object connecting with your face, and you falling on the ground, not moving.
“Oh my god, Y/N! Someone help!” you hear a faint voice yell, until everything went black.
You remember the feeling of blood dripping down and across your face. You remember the ringing in your ears, and the excruciating pain in your head. And now, here you were, in a white room that did not look anything like yours.
But then you noticed.
“Why can i only see from one eye?” you thought.
Immediately, you pushed a button beside your hospital bed, resulting in a nurse coming to your aid straight away.
“Oh good, Y/N. You’re awake. How are you feeling, dear?” she asked, giving you some water and a couple pain meds.
“Why can’t I see? My head hurts so bad” you cried.
“Shh. Calm down, sweetie. Someone threw a bottle at you at a party last night. Now, I do have some news for you. That bottle fractured two bones around your eye socket. You are required to come back tomorrow morning for a check up with the plastic surgeon, and we will also need your parents’ contact information so we can let them know what happened, as your emergency contacts didn’t answer.” she stated.
“Plastic surgeon?” you gulped. You hated hospitals. Surgeries were a whole different level..
“I'm sorry, sweetie. But if the fracture doesn’t get better on it’s own, we’re gonna have to perform the surgery.” she gave you a sympathetic smile.
“Did my friends leave my phone here?” you asked quietly.
“They sure did.” The nurse kindly gave you your phone. “I’ll be right outside. Just push the button If you need anything” She smiled and walked away.
You furrowed your eyebrows. What were you supposed to do? Who were you supposed to call? Your parents would absolutely flip if you called them. Sam and Harry wouldn’t care, and Tom and Harrison were out of the picture. Hell, they didn’t even answer when the hospital called them. Paddy wasn’t old enough to drive yet. Your only option at this point was to take a cab, except all of your clothes were covered in blood. You groaned, because now you’re actually going to have to call your parents.
One thing about Tom is that he can’t keep his mouth shut, whether it’d be movies or exciting events, but he also can’t seem to keep things between you in situations like these. You know that he has told your parents everything, and you know your parents are disappointed as ever. You wouldn’t be surprised if there was a text from either your mum or dad, explaining how disappointed they are.
Shaking the feeling of guilt, you quickly dialled your mum’s number. You knew that if she was listed as your emergency contact, she would answer straight away. but since your emergency contacts were Tom and Harrison, she had no idea that her daughter had slept in a hospital room overnight.
“Hello?” Nikki's groggy voice made you feel guiltier, knowing you had woken her up. It was one of the only days she had to sleep in, since she worked early hours in the morning times on weekdays.
“Mommy?” You whimpered, trying hard not to cry. You weren’t sure if it was the pain you were feeling due to your injuries, the fact that you couldn’t open your left eye, or the fact that basically your entire family was mad at you, that was causing your tears.
“Y/N? Sweetie? What happened? Aren’t you staying at Kait’s house? Why are you calling me so early? Go back to bed, hun.” Your mUm sounded like she was a little bit more awake, but after the sob that left your mouth, she was already getting out of bed.
“I did something really bad, mommy. can you please come get me? I'm sorry.” you couldn’t keep it in any longer. everything that’s happened the past day has came down on you, and you couldn’t stop thinking about it; no matter how hard you tried.
“Y/N, where are you sweetie? What happened? Dom- wake up.” You heard your mum yelling at your dad to wake him up.
Feeling even more bad, you managed to tell her that you were at the hospital, and that you were in the emergency room.
“I’ll be there soon for you, baby. Hang on tight. I love you.” Nikki quickly hung up the phone and got dressed, running down the stairs as fast as she could, finding all four of her sons and Harrison in the kitchen making breakfast.
“Woah there mum. Slow down. Where ya headed?” Tom asked, looking at her with concern.
“Did any of you guys get a call from Y/N last night?” she asked, quickly pouring herself some coffee in a travel mug.
“No, why? We all went to bed pretty early, too.” Tom said, not wanting to talk about his little sister who he’s still infuriated with.
Truth was, he did get a call last night. Both him and Harrison did. Except, the caller was unknown, and due to safety reasons, they both agreed to not answer the phone call. Not thinking anything of the calls, both of them went to bed.
“I'll just be right back.” Nikki quickly ran out the door, barely putting on her shoes before she ran to her car, and rushed to the hospital where her only daughter was at.
20 minutes later, after almost breaking a couple red lights and going as fast as she could, Nikki arrived at the hospital out of breath.
After being led to your room, she immediately gasped at the sight. There you were, dry blood all across your face. your left eye was purple and swollen shut. A big bandage was covering your eyebrow and half your forehead.
“Oh my- baby girl” Your mom cried as she held you.
“I'm sorry mommy. I shouldn't have went out last night. I'm so sorry” You sobbed, trying to ignore the pain coming from your eye. “I can't see from my left eye, mom. please help me.” You started wailing. Sure, bad things happened to you now and then, but this?
“Who did this to you, baby? I promise I'm not mad. Just tell me what happened” She asked, helping you up and change out of your hospital gown.
“I-I don't know. I was taking pictures with Hannah and all of a sudden I felt something hit me and I fell to the ground. The nurse told me that someone had thrown a bottle at me. I don’t know if it was an accident or on purpose, and I don’t know who it was. I'm sorry, mum.” You cried, as more tears slipped out.
Nikki quickly pulled you into her warm embrace, and you suddenly felt safe again.
“C’mon, let’s get you home.” You were signed out of the hospital, with the nurses giving you sympathetic looks on the way.
“Can I sleep when I get home? I'm tired.” You say. Considering the fact that it was 7:30 in the morning, Nikki did not deny your request.
“Anything for you, baby” She sighed, wanting so desperately to know who hurt her daughter, and why they had done it.
20 minutes later, you were home. Nikki unlocked the door and you were greeted with all of your brothers and Harrison eating breakfast. you tried so desperately to hide your face, but just your luck, paddy had seen it before you could even dash up the stairs to your beloved bed.
“Y/N?” Paddy asked frantically. He had never seen anyone in this state, let alone his own sister.

Quack! Quack! Quack!
Harrison’s alarm stirs you awake. He never used the default alarm, something about the default alarm being too jarring, though any alarm is supposed to be annoying, isn’t that the point of an alarm? You’d never bothered to question his logic. You tap him with the hand that was on his chest. He rarely woke up to his alarm but it woke you up so you’d gotten used to the routine of waking him up since moving in together. It was always the same every morning. You’d wake up and, in your semi-conscious state, attempt to shake him awake. He’d groan, squeeze his arms tighter around you, and mutter something along the lines of ‘five more minutes’. You’d have to persist in waking him up despite how much you wanted to stay wrapped up in his arms. Where you were warm. Where you knew he was safe.
But it’s four a.m. and duty calls.
Eventually, Harrison rolls over and turns off the alarm, taking his arms away from around you and letting the cool air send goosebumps across your skin.
You were awake now, as Harrison ran through his morning routine, so you’d start your own. Swinging your legs over the edge of the bed, you pulled Harrison’s shirt tighter around you in an attempt to stay warm. Harrison hopped in the shower while you started coffee for him and a tea for you. By the time he was out and dressed the coffee was ready and your tea was half gone.
You leaned against the counter, holding your mug with both hands while Harrison poured his coffee for himself. He leaned against the opposing counter. There was a comfortable silence between you two, Harrison was lost in his thoughts, his gaze locked on some random cupboard while you did something similar.
You always got nervous before his twenty four hour shifts. They scared you, there was so much time for everything to go wrong.
Harrison snapped out of his thoughts, finally realizing that he’d been staring at a cupboard for the past ten minutes. He leaned further against the counter and kicked the side of your leg gently, really just bumping it and pulling you out of your thoughts. Even once you’d looked up he continued to do so.
“What?” You spoke quietly, your voice was barely above a whisper.
“Nothin’. Just love you” Harrison continued to tap your calf rhythmically.
“Oh, so you kick me?” You reply in mock offence, holding back a chuckle.
“Yep,” Harrison pops the ‘p’.
“That’s not nice”
“ ‘S a shame” You could see a small smile pulling at his lips. You start to do the same thing to him and it pulls a laugh out of the both of you. Eventually, he stops, grin still plastered on his face. He stands up straight and places his mug behind you before taking your own and doing the same. His hands fall to your waist.
“You took my tea” You wrap your arms around his neck, your fingers finding their place in his hair.
“It was empty anyway, love” He leans down and presses his lips softly to yours and pulls away a couple of seconds later.
“I’m so proud of you”, You say after a moment of silence between the two of you, your hands still fiddling with the curls at the back of his neck.
“Why’s that?” Harrison responds and you can’t help but roll your eyes. He definitely knows, but you'll indulge him.
“You’ve worked so hard for this promotion and you finally got it”
“Yeah this week has really been the best week of my life,” Harrison starts, “Finally got promoted to Lieutenant, got the girl of my dreams to say she’ll marry me,” He says the last half against your lips, kissing them once he’d finished talking.
“She must be lucky”
“If I didn’t have to leave for work I would tell her every reason I love her” You can’t help but smile as he kisses your hairline, “But then I’d be spoiling part of my vows” He whispers the last part and you roll your eyes at him, the same smile still on your lips.
“Stay safe today, please” Your left-hand falls from his hair, tracing down his neck then over his shoulder that’s covered by his dark blue station t-shirt. It continues down his bicep, forearm, until finally, it reaches his hand. Your hand and his both grab for each other.
“I always am” He whispers back to you, his hand squeezing your own.
“I know. Doesn’t mean I don’t worry. I already almost lost you once, I can’t imagine what’d happen if I actually did” The last sentence was mumbled. You worried that if you talked about him dying, then he actually would. That’s the last thing you wanted.
You had never been sure how he made it out of that accident alive. Persistence you supposed, only those who want to live, do. How the fuck does someone survive a tree going into their chest? The doctors had told you that had it been only a few centimetres over, it would have scraped his heart.
You had never believed in miracles until then.
“I’ll be safe. I’ll come back to you tomorrow, I promise” You pressed a soft kiss to your forehead, his lips barely brushing the skin before Harrison rested his chin on the top of your head, mumbling a small ‘I love you’ into your hair.
He pulled away to go and get his coat while you placed the mugs into the sink, they were a problem for later. You headed back towards the bedroom, knowing you’d meet Harrison halfway as he was about to leave.
“I love you, I’ll see you when I come home,” Harrison says as his left arm winds around your waist, his right holding his coat. You leaned up as he leaned down and your lips pressed together. This was in no way a goodbye kiss. It was an ‘I’ll see you later’ kiss. A ‘come home to me’ kiss. A ‘You’ve got to come home’ kiss. An “I’ll always come back to you” kiss
“I love you, too, lieutenant” You replied with a wink when you pulled away. Like he always did, Harrison leaned down a pressed one last kiss to your lips, this one much shorter than the first, and flashed you a smile as he opened the door. And you, like always, kept the door open and waved once he got in the elevator. You only shut the door once the elevator door shut down the hall.
Now, on schedule, you fell back asleep alone. It was 4:46 am, only a couple minutes difference from previous days, though the times never differed by much. Crawling into bed, you switched your pillow with Haz’s, something you did on days where you had a gut feeling something was going to go wrong, though it never did. You pulled the duvet over your shoulder and up to your chin before letting yourself lull back to sleep.
Harrison’s morning was boring. He and a couple of other trucks had to go out of the city a bit to where a tanker truck had rolled, they were mostly there to supervise in case any gas started leaking from it or if anything happened suddenly. He was there for a couple of hours before getting called back to the station. That morning and afternoon he had a school presentation on fire safety. Quite honestly, Harrison loved the school presentations. Especially with Tom by his side for them. He was pretty sure that the kids got a sense of how close Tom and Harrison were, so that made the presentation just that much more fun for them. The kids were adorable, they were so amazed by everything that they did. Even if he got the same types of questions every time he never hesitated to answer them. He always told the same story of the skyscraper as his coolest fire story. Yes, he’s gotten a cat out of a tree. Yes, it was scary at first. Yes, it’s a lot of hard work. The kids got some time to take photos with the fire truck and then that was the end of it.
Harrison got some time to relax and work out when he got back to the station around four that day. He’d been away from you all day and that on its own was exhausting for him. Not that he hadn’t been texting you all day. He told you about the cutest kid at each school, as he always did. They made his heart melt.
After a quick workout and a shower, he decided it was nap time. You take every chance you can get to sleep on this kind of job. When he woke up he’d do some station organization and maybe see how the new rookies are doing, another Lieutenant is with them at the moment, probably running drills, Harrison would worry about that later.
Your morning was okay. You woke up around ten and did some chores for the most part. Starting with cleaning up the scattered clothes around your room from the aftermath of your date last night. You placed Harrison’s suit jacket on the end of the bed, the previously crisp white button-down on top of it, and then your dress, navy blue to match his suit, on top of that. You’d have to get them dry cleaned later.
You moved into dishes after tossing in a load of laundry. You turned on the water and poured some soap onto your sponge and into the water before picking up your mug from earlier. It wasn’t until you saw a small glint on your hand that you paused your washing. Placing everything down on the counter, you dried off the minimal amount of water on your hands and carefully twisted the silver ring off of your finger.
You admire the diamond on it while wondering how you’d forgotten about it so quickly. It just felt natural to have it on. The ring was perfect for you, really. Harrison had said that he told Joshua Kane what he thought you’d like and JK had taken it from there. God, you loved this man. A simple round diamond sat on top of intricately shaped silver, the metal strands cross over each other and then again before coming together into a single band that wraps around your finger. You dry off the ring and place it on the counter. You’d put it back on when you finished the dishes.
The rest of the day continued fairly normally. You took a nap expecting to be woken up by the timer you’d set for laundry, instead woken by an excitable Monty wanting a walk. So you do. You took out the final load of laundry and fold it before you take him out for a walk. In the meantime, you drop off your dress and Harrison’s suit to be dry cleaned. You grabbed a quick coffee and lunch and then took Monty into the country to let him run around and exert all his energy.
When you got back, it was around dinner so you ate leftovers from your date with Harrison the night before and called your mum. Afterwards watching some random, mildly entertaining show on Netflix while giving some much-needed attention to Monty.
Harrison called you and the two of you recounted your days, really nothing interesting on either part. He told you about some of the kids from the school. They had opened up the trucks for them and let them look around and ask as many questions as they’d like. Two of the kids had even asked to put on Tom and Harrison’s helmets and jackets. The heavy coats went past the nine-year-olds feet and dragged on the floor. One of the teachers had snapped a photo of the two boys with Harrison and Tom squatted down next to them.
You smiled at Harrison’s enthusiasm, you knew he loved it when he got to work with the kids, and you loved hearing the stories and just how happy he got about them. The way his eyes lit up and his smile filled his face, even if you weren’t there to see it, you could hear it in his tone. You fell in love with him even more than you thought was possible.
People told you that it was impossible to start a family with firefighters. That there just wasn’t time, but you’re sure somehow you’d make it work if you and Harrison decided to.
By the time you hung up, it was nearly half-past nine. Harrison had to leave for a call and you figured that Monty needed another walk, a short one, before you’d head to bed. You returned an hour later from what was supposed to be a short walk with an exhausted Monty and you certainly weren’t going to turn down the opportunity to sleep now. Within twenty minutes you were asleep.
The night was dry, there were a couple calls but none that Harrison had to go one. He took this opportunity to nap quickly, half an hour, any more and he won’t be fully awake if there is a call. He knows better than to make that mistake again. When he gets up, a couple of people are still asleep on the bunks around him, Tom being one of them and a couple of rookies; Thompson, Grant, and Cai. He doesn’t bother them, instead, going to spend time doing something useful and go for a run on one of the station treadmill.
He’s not sure how long it’s been, it’s nearly 230 am, nearing the end of his shift, when the alarm rings through the station. Listening to the P.A. call that follows after, he realizes that it’s everyone that has to go. Harrison turns off the treadmill and wipes his forehead. As he jogs over to the truck to get in gear, it occurs to him that the address being said isn’t even in his stations’ covered area.
In fact, it’s his address that’s being blasted over the P.A.
Tom looks at him as he pulls the suspenders over his shoulders. Concern was written all over his face. Harrison knows what he’s asking. He’s asking about you. Harrison shoots back an expression that he hopes Tom reads as not sure, I hope not. Toms face relaxes as he continues to put on his boots and jacket but truthfully he prays that you were okay. You were a good friend of his too and he could hardly imagine Harrison’s devastation if anything happened to you.
Once Harrison was settled in the passenger seat of the truck, he dug into the pocket of his pants for his phone, sending you a text asking if you were okay. He kept his phone in his hand, waiting for it to vibrate and let him know that you were okay. When he got to the building, he could see heavy smoke coming out of the windows on the right side of the building on multiple floors. He immediately looked towards where he knew his apartment was, where he knew the bedroom window was, where you were possibly sleeping, and there’s no smoke coming out of it. Yet. The floor below is going strong but he wasn’t told to go to your floor, he’s told to go up higher, he’s better at preserving oxygen than a lot of the people on his shift, making him ideal for eleventh and twelfth floor, the top floors of the building.
Harrison looks for you in the group of people on the sidewalk across the street but he doesn’t spot you anywhere. He knows that he’d recognize the pink pyjama bottoms you always wore but there was nothing that vibrant in the crowd.
“Someone will bring her down, mate. She’ll be alright” Tom reassures with a firm hand on his shoulder. Harrison nods and looks towards Tom as he pulls the mask up and the visor down. Giving him one final nod before they run into the building and up the stairs to their floors. Harrison finds his floor almost entirely vacant except for one teenager who had been knocking on doors to make sure everyone was out and one dog. He thanks the boy for his help, instructing him to pull his shirt over his nose while they head back down the stairs. Meanwhile, he carries the small yorkie in one arm, the other helping guide the boy down to the main floor where more ambulances have gathered. He hands the dog off to another firefighter that he doesn’t recognize to find an owner.
The second floor Harrison has to cover is entirely empty, no one left. Even as he checks every room of every apartment he finds it empty. No pets, no one sleeping. Empty. He’s thankful and hopes that other floors are like that. Back down out in front of the building, Harrison pulls his mask down to speak better and save oxygen. He lets the captain know that the floors are cleared as others do the same about their floors. Toms next to him as both of them scan the crowd of people for you or Monty. Surely you would’ve ran to find him by now. The unsettling feeling inside his stomach only increases when his ears tune into something going on next to him.
“Sixth floor cleared captain” Thompson announces from next to him.
“Are you sure?” Harrison asks frantically to a confused Thompson, who only nods. “You checked every single apartment?”
“Yeah” Thompson draws out. Tom continues to search the crowd, no luck.
“You went into every apartment and checked every room to make sure everyone was out?” Thompson nods.
“Well” he starts, Harrison can already feel his blood boiling before he finishes the statement. “I did at first and then there was nothing turning up so I just banged on the doors, opened them up and shouted real loud to save time”
“So then the floors not fucking clear, is it?” Harrisons shouting now, nothing can explain how enraged he is, “That’s not even a rookie mistake, that’s just idiocy. Why the fuck would you do that?” He punctuates his question by pushing Thompson by the shoulders, causing him to take a few steps back. Harrison will feel guilty about it later, he’ll apologize when that happens but for now, he’s too busy pulling the mask up and adjusting his helmet as he runs back into the building, Tom in close tow behind him.
You woke up to the fire alarm ringing in the hallway. You hopped out of bed to see smoke filling up the room through the bottom of the door. You get down and crawl over to the door and feel the knob with the back of your hand which burns as soon as you touch it. Carefully you back away from the door and sit in the opposite corner of the room. Monty comes at sits with his head rested in your lap, nose digging into your hip. You pull a blanket off of your bed and over your nose, adjusting it so that it sits over all of Monty. You sit there for a little longer, you’re not quite sure how long, it could have been thirty minutes for all you know. You hear someone bang on the door and shout, you try to shout back, make a noise, anything, but all that comes out is a squeak and then a cough. You hear the door slam shut and tilt your head back against the wall. You spend the next probably twenty minutes but what feels like forever sitting there, focusing on your breathing, trying to keep it shallow and slow, while petting Monty to try and keep him and yourself calm.
“Y/n?” You hear a shout, instantly recognizing it to be Harrison and you try to shout back, keeping your eyes closed so the smoke doesn’t hurt them too much. The door swings open, banging against the wall, followed by heavy footsteps towards you. “Y/n” he repeats, calmer this time. You open your eyes and despite the burning the smoke causes, you’re met with blue eyes, ones that you know oh so well. It makes you breathe easier. For just a second before the smoke makes you close your eyes again you think that you saw tears.
“I’m gonna carry you down okay? Just wrap your arms around my neck and let me do the rest.” You nod and Harrison takes this as his cue to get you out.
Harrison takes a deep breath and holds it as he takes off his oxygen mask, giving it to you instead. He slowly lets out small puffs of air in spaced out intervals, trying to preserve his air as long as possible. He puts one arm under your knees and the other around your back while your arms go around his neck like he said. He starts to lift you up when you let out a singular word in a breathy voice.
“Monty”
“I’ll get him,” Tom pipes up and lifts Monty up effortlessly, following Harrison out of the building.
Once he’s far enough away from the building and behind the trucks he sets you down carefully, immediately wrapping his arms around you. You reciprocate, pulling him tighter to you momentarily until you pull off the mask. Harrison’s breathing heavily, his chest rising and falling as he looks at you. He takes off his helmet, throwing it to the floor so that he can lean in and press his lips against yours. Over and over and over again just wanting to feel you close to him. Relish in the feeling of having you in his arms.
“I was so worried about you” Harrison lets out through a choked sob. They were definitely tears and now they run down his cheeks, making evident trails down his face.
“‘M okay, Haz. Right here, Harrison, right here.” You reassure as he pulls you back into a hug, resting his chin on your head and placing soft kisses into your hair, ignoring the overwhelming smell of smoke that will likely take you days to get off.
A paramedic taps you on your shoulder and directs you over to her ambulance where you sit while she checks you over for any burns, nursing the burn on the back of your hand while Harrison and Tom go back in again to put out the fire. Once it’s out Harrison immediately walks over to the ambulance you’re at as the paramedic wraps your hand.
“Hey, lieutenant,” You say, removing the mask momentarily to speak. Harrison pushes it back against your face, a cute grin on his lips.
“Put the mask back on. Don’t be like me” He chuckles and you do too as he hops up on the back of the ambulance with you, starting to take off his jacket. You can’t help but watch his arms as he pulls off the jacket, letting it fall behind him. The paramedic takes your mask from you, hanging it up and handing Harrison a different line. Before placing it over his face he leans over and whispers in your ear.
“Only the paramedic that I have a crush on gets to take off my jacket for me” You shake your head at him, the reference to when you had first asked him out made you smile. The stupid grin on your lips never faded as the paramedic checks over him, finding nothing. After a few minute,s she hangs up the oxygen mask and signals for the two of you to hop out.
“Thank you” You mumble, pulling Harrison into a hug before he can even get his jacket on. He doesn’t hesitate to wrap his arms around you.
“For what?”
“Saving me”
“I shouldn’t have had to. If he’d only done his job-”
“Harrison it’s okay. You can deal with him later. For now can we go somewhere to stay for the rest of the night?” You press a hand against his cheek and Harrison leans into your touch. He relishes in the warmth that your hand provides for a moment before nodding.
“My spare bedroom is free for you guys if you’d like” Tom pipes up from a little bit away from you two, giving the two of you space while he pets and plays with Monty, keeping him occupied while you and Harrison reunite.
“We should probably stop back at the station first, finish the report and grab our stuff but then we’ll be on our way over. Can you take Monty over and we’ll meet you there after?” You nod and Harrison gives you a small peck before you squat done to call Monty over to you. Monty runs up and nearly knock you over as he jumps up onto you, licking your face and neck. Harrison and Tom are soon called away and Tom shouts back where the spare key is as they head back to the trucks.
And only a few minutes after you’d gotten settled into bed in Tom’s spare bedroom, familiar arms wrap around you, pulling you against his chest and pressing kisses into your hair as the strange and comforting faint scent of smoke mixing with cologne and shampoo engulfs you as well. You turn around in his arms and press your lips against his.
Blurb: The bestest of friends lost their way and are now just another passing face in the school hallway, but sometimes love overcomes the difficulties and finds its way back home.
Warnings: Swearing. Teenage angst.
A/N: Thanks to my sweet friend who gave me this idea, you know who you are. Very loosely based of the relationship of Nala and Simba ;). Thought I would give Haz some love given he wasn’t apart of game night with the boys. Pretty proud of this fic tbh and I really love it. 2093 words, probably with punctual errors and spelling mistakes (I did proof read but not amazing at English skills so, whoops).
Walking up the steps to the building of hell, Y/N wished she was anywhere but here. It was her final year of high school; decisions for the future must be made and many childhood memories are to be left behind. Sadly, for Y/N, those memories are the only good ones she has.
“Y/N! Hurry up!” He called as he jumped onto the couch which was an elephant in size compared to his small figure, “I’m gonna start without you.” His sweet bird-like voice rung through the walls as he hoped for a reply.
Y/N, too small to reach the popcorn in the cupboard, was manoeuvring her stool to try and grab the packet of salty goodies.
“Just a minute!” She yelled as she finally grabbed the packet, “don’t start without me! I have to pop the popcorn!” To her surprise, she heard the familiar tunes of Disney logos at the beginning of every film. She ran from the kitchen, dropping the popcorn as she went, to reach the source of the familiar sounds. “I said to wait!” She said hands on her hips as she looked into the boy’s bright blue eyes.
“we don’t need popcorn,” he replied looking back at the screen as he tapped the large cushion next to him. After no reply, he looked back to find her glaring eyes waiting for the right response. “C’mon Y/N, it’s our favourite movie!” He pleases pointing at the TV in hope of persuading her. Looking from the TV back to the blonde boy, she finally gave in.
“Fine,” She said as she sat next to him and cuddles together, their friendship impossible to break as ‘The Lion King’ began to play.
“Get out of the way loner!” Called Y/N back to the sad reality of school. As she walked through the halls she saw different people and different friendships, sadly none of them were with her. Her hopes of finding the right friend were decreasing rapidly as names were called and unwanted glares were found everywhere she went. Y/N had been searching for one friendly face in the crowd for years in these halls, never finding the right kind soul. Tears formed in her eyes as she rushed to close her locker and find the closest bathroom. Colours began to blur as the growing mass of tears distorted her vision. She knew she was close to the bathrooms, she knew this path all too well. Nearly there just hold the tears in. Looking down in hopes of hiding any rogue tears she blindly guided herself to the bathroom entrance, only to be obstructed by a hard force.
“Y/N?”
The all too familiar voice, one she hadn’t heard her name from in years. The sweet memories from her childhood. Flashes of sapphire blue and pale gold, her favourite colours. All because of him. The feeling of warm hands electrifying the cold hard skin of her arms awoke her from her trance. She looked up through her watery eyes to find the beautiful blue of the sky looking right at her. “Y/N? Are you okay?” He asked again, concerned for the fragile girl in front of him. With too many emotions clouding her mind, she acted in the only cold-hearted way she knew.
“I’m fucking fine. Just leave me alone, you’ve done it for the past five fucking years, you might as well keep it like that.” She blurted out in a fit of emotions as she wriggled out of his comforting grip. Turning away, she scurried into her sacred oasis of sinks and toilets, wishing for the day to end. As she secluded herself from the rest of the world, she searched for a simpler time, a time of pure joy and happiness.
The bright rays of the sun began to dissipate as the sun set behind the clouds in the horizon as the young girl leaned over the fence to be with the blued eyed boy.
“Okay, Timon or Pumba?” The young boy asked curiousity filling his bright eyes.
“You can’t ask that,” she replied with a childish frustration, “they’re inseparable”, she finished off as she stretched her small legs to allow her to see the blonde boy.
“Kinda like Nala and Simba” he commented looking straight at her as joy spread across his face, secretly wishing for the afternoon to never end, just to be with her.
“Darling? Dinner’s ready,” called a sweet voice ringing into the backyard catching the attention of the young pair. whipping her head back to the blonde boy she sent an apologetic face to him.
“I gotta go,” she stated reluctantly as she began to walk backwards towards her home whilst his bright blue eyes watched her every step. Blush creeping up her cheeks, she turned away from the smiling boy as they parted for the night.
“See ya later, Nala!” He cheerfully yelled as he waved, hoping for her to turn around one more time. Luckily, she did with a grin spread across her face.
“Bye, Simba.” she replied giggling at their new nicknames as she waved back.
Walking into her home, the young girl replayed her afternoon in her mind, drifting to a happy state, unaware of her mother watching her grin widen even further.
“Darling, do you like that boy?” called her mother as she was brought back into reality. Once again, her cheeks heated up to a crimson red as she smiled at her shoes.
“Maybe,” she replied quietly as she admitted her feelings that had been growing for months now. She only hoped that he felt the same, she had a sneaking suspicion that he did.
The sound of running water awoke Y/N from her dreaming as her tears stained her notebooks. Y/N knew Harrison no longer felt anything for her, despite how much she wishes she was wrong. It was quite evident as their abrupt end to their friendship left her heart broken but let him thrive.
It was Saturday. Finally. A day where no one could tease and torture Y/N to tears. It was the best day of the week. No unwanted stares. No interruptions. Nothing.
Throughout the day grey clouds had lingered over the town with the prospect of rain. Y/N found herself sitting on her bed, curtains open, as she read her new favourite book series. Coffee in hand, she read the story longingly, hoping for the day she could feel as happy as the characters. As her mind drifted into the thrilling story, the soothing sound of pattering rain interrupted her thoughts. She glanced up from her book to watch the street gradually glisten with rain water.
The clouds created a grey gloom outside, however it was a calming sight to Y/N. The softened greens of the trees and the faint brown of the pathway filled her mind, distracting her from her novel. Closing her eyes, Y/N listened to the song of the soft rain combined with the sweet tones of the birds chirping. Slowly opening her eyes to continue reading, she took one more glance out the window to the street.
The contrasting colours of bright blue and pale but strong gold against the dull hues of the street caught her off guard. The soft but strong gold began to glisten as the rain water seeped into the blonde lo. Baffled by the new colours, Y/N found herself staring outside, her book long forgotten. How? Why? Was all that was going through her mind. Why was her mind playing tricks on her? She tried shaking the colours from her mind but every time she blinked, they were still there.
Then out of nowhere, the ocean blue brightened as it focused on her through the rain and the window. As the blue seeped into her soul, all the childhood memories of happiness with the blue eyes boy reappeared.
Harrison
Without any hesitation she put her cold coffee on her bedside table and jumped off her bed. Sprinting out of her room, forgetting about shoes and the rain, she slammed into the front door. Swinging the door open, she was ever so closer to the blue-eyed boy. Taking one step, she found the pressure from the past five years reappear. With the sudden realisation of the situation and everything that needed to be faced, she stopped just as the rain fell on her tangled hair. Her mind was so clouded with emotions, she was unaware of the tears that slid down her cheeks. The build-up of tears distorted her view, but she could still see the pale gold and vibrant blue of the boy she missed as he walked towards her.
Five years ago, Y/N’s world changed rapidly; all because of Harrison. It started with his new friend Tom; there was nothing wrong with Tom but two’s company, three’s a crowd. With new commitments with Tom, Haz drifted from Y/N. The final straw was when he moved houses. From being neighbours and best friends to mutuals who lived on opposite sides of town, their relationship ceased to exist. They still saw each other at school, but it felt wrong and eye contact became awkward. Y/N was distraught; her parents tried everything to make her smile how Haz could make her smile with a simple giggle. She never found another friend that was as perfect as Harrison, even if he did leave her, he was all she could wish for in a friend. She knew she felt more than that, but it was unreachable, so she clung to the idea of being friends again.
“Y/N?” Called her back to the situation of cold rain water soaking her sweats. Looking up, she found the oasis of his blue eyes watching her every move, unaware of how she would react. His warm hands found their way to her arms again, protecting her from collapsing. Y/N abruptly swung her arms around his firm body as her face sunk against his chest, inhaling his aroma. The overwhelming familiarity of his scent, his touch, all of him, sent her into overdrive as her tears fell at a faster pace than the pattering rain surrounding the pair. Y/N felt his comforting arms encircle her into a full embrace, protecting her from the rain. The pair stayed connected for what seemed like an eternity; a cocoon of emotions that had built up over five long painful years. Breaking the silence, Y/N found the strength to speak into his warm chest.
“I’m so fucking sorry,” she muffled as she continued to sob, “I shut you out for five years thinking you hated me, but I see it now.” Her sobs were consistent as she lifted her head up to study his features again. “You always cared for me, even if you left me. I’m sorry I didn’t get along with Tom, I thought he was going to take you from me; but that was my fault, I pushed you away.” Tears streamed down her cheeks as she finally let everything out. Five years of pain, sadness and loneliness.
Seeing the pain in her eyes, Harrison wiped the tears off her cheeks feeling the warmth of her face electrify his thumb as he held her cheek. “You don’t have to apologise,” he stated as he caressed her face even as the rain poured over them. “It doesn’t matter now, all that matters now is us.” At those words Y/N’s mind went into a frenzy. For years she had believed that he felt nothing for her, hardly even a friendly thought. Her state of mind had hidden the fact that he felt so much for her. Lost for words, she found herself staring into his love-filled eyes, hoping there was enough love in his heart for her. Distracted by her thoughts, Y/N found a new warmth on her face.
His lips were on hers. The fiery warmth of their affection brought her back to her senses as she kissed him back. Her hands found their way to his golden hair as he brought her closer to him by her waist. Their delicate kiss lasted for an eternity as their soft intimacy encapsulated them. Breaking apart from the kiss with a gasp for air, Harrison found himself staring into her beautiful eyes as their foreheads leaned on another. Closing his eyes, he found himself enraptured by the moment as he searched for the four golden words.
“I love you, Nala.”
Giggling at the return of their nicknames, Y/N smiled up and the beautiful boy as she replied with you only words she could say,

with trembling hands, you quickly unlocked the door that was holding you back from your freedoms. for years, you were trapped in that hell house you were forced to call home. and now, after time and time of you finally figuring out the code to the security alarm, you left.
but where would you go?
in all honesty, you didn’t care where you went, as long as it wasn’t a brothel, or where your parents were.
with bruised legs, you shakily hurried through your neighbourhood, trying to make yourself as unnoticed as possible. but in your defence, the people on your street never did anything when they heard your screaming at this time, so why would they do anything now?
even though you were so excited to leave, you were frightened because now what? you had no clothes, no money, hell, you didn’t even have a phone. walking alone on a friday night at one in the morning wasn’t ideal for a 17 year old like you.
so you decided to keep walking. nothing worse could happen to you at this point, right?
“maybe if i knock on someone’s door, they will help me.” you thought, trying to find a house that looked somewhat nice and now sketchy. though almost every house in this neighbourhood had its lights turned off, there was one that caught your eye.
the house itself was a two-story home, looking like it belonged to a middle class family. you hoped that they were just an ounce nicer than your family, if you can even call them that.
you were tempted to run up and pound on the door, hoping that they would help you out a little seeing your bruises and how you weren’t able to walk or even stand up straight. except, an audi pulling into the driveway have cut off all hopes, seeing a man that looked to be in his early twenties leave the vehicle.
sure, you may have assumed that he could be an older brother to someone. but he looked oddly familiar, you just couldn’t quite put your finger on it.
desperate times call for desperate measures, and as soon as you saw the boy put the extra key underneath the mat, you walked over to the house; but stopped immediately when you saw the boy run out and jump back into his vehicle.
sighing in relief and making sure that the coast was clear, you walked over to the house, wincing while doing so.
using the key he left under the door mat, you quietly unlocked the door. your stomach rumbled and all you wanted to do was eat something. you haven’t eaten since wednesday morning, your parents refused to cook you anything when they eat.
picking up a banana you found in a cute fruit basket on the table, you were just about about to peel it open, until you heard a click and harsh voice, “i would think about your next move if you don’t want to get killed.”
shakily, you put your hands up and dropped the banana immediately, turning around slowly and being met with another guy who looked to be in his early twenties; curly brown hair and dark eyes. you couldn’t focus on the colour of his eyes, only the emotion behind them; anger.
“i-i’m s-so sor-ry” you coward back, covering your face as if he was going to hit you, even though covering your face wouldn’t help you much, he would just shoot you.
“what are you doing here?” he asked, his gun staying the same place it was before; right in front of your face.
“i-i just-just needed to l-leave a-and i w-was hung-hungry. i’m so sorry. please don’t hurt-hurt me.” you were full blown bawling your eyes out, and at this point, the boy had no idea what to do. he noticed you were younger, he noticed the bruises and cuts and how you couldn’t stand straight.
slowly he put the gun down.
“you’re hungry?” he asked, in a much softer tone.
“y-yes but it’s okay. i can g-go.” and before he could even stop you, you left, without turning back.
quickly reaching for his phone, he dialled his best friends phone number, putting it up to his ear quickly.
“harrison,” he took a deep breathe, “i need you to help me find someone.
Hi!! I just found your blog and just let me say this... I LOVE IT AND I LOVE YOU!! And I've had this idea in my mind for I while and thought maybe you could turn into something? It's for Harrison btw. So, the reader and Harrison are preparing to go out to some fancy event and he sees her "stealing" one of his watches, instead of taking it back he just teases her for wearing it on her right arm instead of her left and he realises he loves this quirky girl? Thank you in advance if you do this🧡💛

A/N: This is such a cute idea! I’m so happy you like my blog, you made my day! I hope you guys enjoy. Requests are open :)
With a frustrated huff, you looked through every ounce of your jewelry box, trying to find your Michael Kors watch Harrison had got you as a birthday gift. You wore that watch to any and every event Harrison dragged you to.
Now, running late to the Far From Home premiere, you had tears in your eyes out of frustration, knowing Harrison was downstairs, ready to go, and waiting for you.
“Babe? Are you ready to go? Tom just asked where we were.” Harrison called out from downstairs.
“I’ll be down in two minutes, promise.” You jogged over to Harrison’s vanity and grabbed the small box you had in mind.
You wore Harrison’s sweaters and joggers on the daily, he wouldn’t mind if you wore his watch for a few hours, right?
Groaning, you tried so hard to fasten the watch securely around your right wrist, but you weren’t able to get it together.
“What are you doing?” Harrison’s voice made you jump and drop the watch, you immediately bending down to pick it up.
“Uh, I was just trying to-”
“Steal my watch? Yeah, I noticed. What were you thinking?! The watch is supposed to go on your left wrist, you dork.” Harrison chuckled and helped you with it, putting it on your left wrist this time.
“How the hell did you do that? Why is your watch so hard to fasten?’ You whined, finally walking downstairs to leave.
“It’s not so hard to do. Maybe if you had it on your left wrist, your right hand would have been able to fasten it no problem.” Harrison teased, ruffling your hair just a little bit.
“Hey! I have to go fix that now!” You exclaimed, about to go to the washroom, but being stopped by Harrison’s arms around your waist.
“Y/N, we are 45 minutes late!” Haz threw your heels at you, and sprinted out the door to his car.
“It’s not my fault your watch was giving me problems!” You laughed, getting into the passenger side.
“And, it’s not my fault you don’t know how to wear a watch.” Harrison giggled. Booping your nose, he quickly (but safely) drove both of you to the premiere, preparing to tell tom why you guys were so late.
A/N: i’m going to start reblogging these with my tags on them because they never work when i first post them. here’s a fun lik chapter hope you like it

Harry pushed open one of the doors and let you in before entering himself, letting the door shut on its own.
King Harrison was talking with someone, both of their backs to you. You admired both sets of wings. You hadn’t really gotten the chance to pay attention to the detail in them before. Both wide off their backs, though Harrisons drooped slightly more, they were also darker in colour than the other demons, but both were raven. Harrison’s also seemed glossier, they held more of the light in the room which made them seem lighter in colour.
The other demon had longer hair, darker than Toms, he hadn’t pushed it back or styled it at all, instead letting the straight strands sit around his face. The other one spoke, though you couldn’t hear what he was saying, for the most part, he talked with his hands, while Harrison’s- King Harrisons, you supposed you’d have to get used to that- arms remained crossed over his chest as he nodded along, he seemed tense.
“King Harrison” Harry walked up to the centre of the room and you followed.
“What-“ Harrison spat the syllable as he turned around. His eyes were black but turned back into icy blue when he noticed the two of you, his wings straightening at the same time. He looked back at the other demon, saying something to him. The demon nodded in response, glanced at Harry and nodded again, which Harry reciprocated. King Harrison walked over to the two of you, “Harry you may go. How are you feeling, angel?”
“I’m uh” You watched as Harry bowed his head, he smiled at you before leaving with the other demon through the large doors behind you. You didn’t want him to go, you’d only just woken up and he was the only person you’d come to interact with since. You trusted him. Watching him head out the door you hoped he’d turn around to see that you didn’t want him to go. But he didn't.
It was just you and Harrison now, “I’m okay, I suppose” You avoided looking at him, suddenly uncomfortable now that you had the energy to be uncomfortable.
“You suppose?” You could feel Harrison’s gaze resting on you as you nodded slightly, “Well, angel. Let’s go for a walk and we can chat, yes?” You wanted to cut him off. Tell him your actual name. Bombard him with questions. But he was the King of Hell. You were taught to fear him.
You followed a pace behind him in the long halls, taking in the dark walls lined with candelabras, even though light streamed through the windows giving you a glimpse to the outside. It was light out but the ground was dark and sandy, cracking at some parts like the dry deserts you’d heard of on Earth but never visited. King Harrison walked leisurely through the halls, his hands shoved in his pockets but back straight and tall. You remember him telling you about hours that he’d spent working on posture alone as a teen. How his father had said “A King who slouches is no King at all” and he said that he’d never fully understood it.
“Do you have any questions, angel?” Harrison gaze had hardly left you. You’d gotten used to everyone calling you ‘angel’ although you would very much prefer your own name still.
“Only a couple, your highness” You replied sheepishly.
“Well, ask away”
“Why save me? And how long have I been down here? And why the flowers?” The words spill from your lips in a rush, it makes the King smile, a small chuckle slipping from his throat.
“Human time or realm time?” There was a softness in his voice. Something that made it lighter than you’d expect from a demon. It was… comforting.
“Human”
“You arrived here five human weeks ago” His smile faded and he became visibly uncomfortable with whatever was about to follow, the next words were spoken slowly, hesitation in each one, “You were in the basement of the castle for” he inhaled deeply “two human weeks” King Harrison cleared his throat. “And you were sick in your room for three of them” He finished, leaving you to ponder. It’d felt like much longer.
“My room?” You questioned. Your room. In the castle. In Hell.
“Your room, If you choose to stay, of course,” The King continued after giving you a moment to think over what he had said: “The flowers. Lilac coloured hyacinths. They’re apologetic” You nodded along.
“They were one of my mother’s favourite” You whispered. Either King Harrison didn’t hear you, or he didn’t acknowledge it. You continued, “And why did you bother saving me?”
“Ah right that well,” He cleared his throat, removing his hands from his pockets and clasping them behind his back, his eyes fell to his feet, “I’m rather drawn to you, angel. In a way that I can’t begin to explain. It’s not lust, although will not pretend that lust isn’t a portion of it. As you are um…” His confidence faltered, “The dress uh… I’m going to stop digging my own grave” You laughed at his sudden awkwardness and he did as well upon seeing that you had.
“Well, your majesty that’s very kind of you. However, you didn’t need to push off the conversation earlier. I don’t mind waiting, sir” You noticed how he cringed slightly at the formalities. You weren’t sure if he had done that while you were dying. You were too distracted by, well, dying, to notice.
“Actually the conversation was about you. In a way. It had started off about Iezebel, my wife as you know. And then Sam told me how you were doing. Just stuff about your fever and how it may have broken but he wasn’t sure. And then Harry brought you to us, so we no longer were unsure” You nodded. The halls grew silent apart from your steps, you in your own thoughts and the King in his. Both of you went to speak at the same time, you let him go first.
“What’s your name, angel?”
“Y/N,” You noticed how King Harrison’s eyes widened, immediately switching to a slightly furrowed brow before going back to an expression of content. The shift in expressions passed in a fraction of a second.
“Beautiful name. It suits you”
“Thank you, your highness” You paused for a second, allowing him to speak if you’d like to. “You are nothing like the King we learn of in heaven. At least, not from what I’ve seen so far. Pardon me for my assumptions”
“Oh no it’s perfectly alright, Y/N” He hesitates before saying your name, so used to calling you angel that it’s become habitual. “Tell me about the Kings you learn of?” He phrases it as a question.
“They say a lot of things. I’m not sure how much of it is true, granted it’s all were taught and were told to trust it. They say that they’re all terrifying and aggressive and ruthless”
“Some are” King Harrison chimed in, you acknowledged it with a nod but continued on.
“They always said that demons are nothing but bad. Not an ounce of good in them but not even angels are entirely good. Not a single angel has never done anything bad. So why would a demon be anything but?” You finish your small ramble and look up at the King as he goes to speak.
“There are demons like that. Ones that think with nothing but dark thoughts. My father was like that. Tom-” he swallows, “Tom is like that. Though he wasn’t always. He wanted to kill you as soon as you got here and I refused. When we were younger-” King Harrison cuts himself off. He seems as though he wants to continue, but doesn’t “That’s a story for another day” he says.
“And you? What are you like?” you ask after a moment of silence. Curiosity was ever growing in your mind.
It was a much more loaded question than you had intended it to be. That’s years- centuries- of insecurity and shame. Harrison knows it’s too much to unload on his first day of knowing you. Sure, he’s talked to you much before but this was the first time that he could really know about you. The first time talking with you rather than at you. He didn’t want to screw it up. Didn’t want to mess with the weird feeling in his stomach that he had. He knew it was good.
“Also a story that must wait. One day you’ll know” Harrison wasn’t even sure that he knew.
A/N: so here is part 12! i’m so excited about this part. possibly my favourite line i’ve ever written is in this part and it’s cause it’s hilarious. interact to stay on the taglists. also yes i know i said the 11th. i got tired of waiting
Warnings: shitty puns, @wazzupmrstark thinks tom is hot in this part so prepare for that i guess

Harrison thought over your conversation from a few days prior. He thought of the types of Kings you’d described and wondered if he’d ever be like them. The softball-sized flame in his hand flicked and crackled as he thought of what you’d said, your voice replaying in his mind.
What are you like?
What a heavy question that was. Harrison knew what his father was like. Ruthless and cruel, the idealistic King of Hell. Harrison couldn’t think of a single demon who disliked the way his father reigned. His grandfather was almost as well like as his father. The only thing that separated them was the way they responded to Heaven.
At 2,655 human years, or 9 realm years, Harrison could remember his father spending hours on end planning on attacking heaven. He wasn’t sure how long before that he’d be planning but when it came time to enact, it fell through.
Despite the demons that were lost, Hell still honoured him for trying.
Four realm years later, King Frederick got sick. They suspected it was something that he got in Heaven that sat dormant in the demons system for the time between his return and his diagnosis.
And then five realm years later, he died. A week after that, Harrison was coronated, given no time to grieve.
He cursed himself when the flame went out, only to look over at Dom who was smiling wide.
“My King. That was the best you’ve ever done. I think we can start to move on”
--
Harry’s elbow was linked with yours as the two of you wandered the halls. You walked leisurely, guiding wherever the two of you went while Harry said what halls you’d already been down, what rooms were off limits, and kept light conversation. He was just as curious about heaven as you were of Hell.
You’d been silent for a moment now, Harry seemed to notice.
“What’s on your mind, Y/N?” He looked at you curiously, wondering what was going on inside the head of a being meant to be so innocent who was in a place the polar opposite.
“Can we go outside of the castle?” You looked over at him as the two of you slowed to a stop.
“I don’t think you’re quite ready for that” Harry shook his head. “Or rather, Hell isn’t ready for you. Contrary to what you’d think, the demons outside the castle are much worse than most of us inside. They wouldn’t be very welcoming to you, especially if they found out you were an angel. Wait until your wings grow in, it’ll be easier then” You could only nod as you started walking again, arm still hooked with Harry’s.
“Harry” A voice rang from down the hall and Harry turned around, making you do the same. You watched as Tom approached, back straight, wings stretched wide off his back, his eyes red and puffy. Even from so far away you saw his fists and jaw clenched, his palms reddening as he recognized you.
“Why isn’t she downstairs?” Tom glared at you, staring daggers into your soul.
“King's orders. You can’t do anything about it Tom” Harry spoke nonchalantly, you appreciated him defending you but still felt small under his gaze, “What do you need, Tom?”
Toms eyes never left you, he was fuming.
“It can wait. Find me when you’re not babysitting” Tom turned on his heel and headed off down the hall you had just come from.
“Babysitting?” You mumble to Harry as you hear a door slam down the hall.
“No, just. Ignore him” Harry shakes his head as he pulls you down the hall and down a flight of stairs to explore another floor of the castle that seemed to get larger and larger the more you wandered.
—
“Harrison, what the fuck” Tom shouted after the door shut behind him.
Harrison shut the book he was reading quickly and shoved it back on the shelf before turning around, hoping that Tom didn’t notice the copy of Angelic History from 300 B.C. to 1500 A.D. He’d already read everything up until then except they were missing the copy for 2100 B.C to 300 B.C so there are800 years he’d never know about.
“Hm?” Harrison’s voice was much calmer than Toms. He started to walk down an aisle of books, knowing perfectly well that Tom would follow. “What’d I do this time to piss you off?”
“Why the fuck is there an angel wandering the halls of the royal castle of Hell?” He made sure to articulate a few words more harshly than others. Including fuck, angel, wandering, royal, and Hell. Although nothing about the phrase was cheerful. All of his words were spat.
“She’s not wandering, she’s got Harry”
“Oh yeah, cause a babysitter will help if she decides to do anything rash”
“He’s more of a tour guide if you ask me” Harrison thumbed through the books, he’d already read most of them but still pick them up, read -or at least glanced at- the summaries and then put them back.
“Cut the shit, Harrison. What are you doing?” Tom cut Harrison off.
“What do you mean?” He was tempted to give Tom another snarky remark but decided against it. Tom was clearly angry and Harrison didn’t want to push it any further. He put back Pride and Prejudice, glancing at Tom as he pulled out The Great Gatsby and reading the summary.
“What’s gotten into you, Harrison? You’ve let some random angel into our realm, who knows what she’s going to do. We don’t even know why she’s here” Tom gestured as he spoke. First towards the door and then wherever he could, nearly hitting his arm off the shelves.
“Tom she doesn’t have her wings anymore, she can’t do anything even if she wanted to”
“You don’t know that-“
“I do” Harrison cut Tom off, his voice was still calm despite the fact that inside he was caught somewhere between fuming anger and enraging self-doubt. Harrison turned towards Tom, “I know. Because I’ve read about it” Harrison maintains eye contact with Tom and hopes that he’ll break it first. Harrison had always been a debater, willing to back up anything he says with some sort of proof. Which is why it doesn’t come as a shock to Tom that he knows if the angel can or can’t do anything. Tom can feel his anger starting to get the best of him. Instead of trying to calm down, he’s nearing boiling over.
“Okay but that still doesn’t explain why you just allow her to walk around the castle with only Harry as some form of supervision? I don’t understand where you’re coming from”
“You never do-“
“What are you in love with her or something?” Tom blurts it out. It was meant rhetorical and sarcastic but when Harrison’s eyes finally break contact with Tom’s to stare at the spines of books as he starts to chew on the inside of his cheek, Tom realizes he’s hit something.
“No- I’m not- It’s just- I” Harrison stumbles over his words, unsure of how to defend himself.
“Mate. You can’t seriously think you love her. You hardly know her. That angel’s been nothing but your little diary for the last few weeks and suddenly you think you love her? Harrison, your wife” Tom pauses for a second. Inhale, exhale, continue. “Your wife just died, and suddenly you think you’re in love with some angel who happened to be there when she did? That’s not-” Tom finishes his sentence with a sigh, but Harrison knows what he means. It’s not right, and even if they are demons, there are some things even they don’t do. He takes a deep breath and looks back at Tom.
“It’s not love. Okay, Tom? I don’t know what it is but it’s not the same feeling I had with Iezebel”
There was a long moment of silence.
“You really have no clue what you’re doing” Tom mutters, laughing to himself and crossing his arms over his chest.
“What?” Harrison looks at Tom. Full offence written all over his face while Tom continues to chuckle.
“Everything that you’re doing as King it’s just-” Tom shakes his head lightly, “What would the other demons think of what you’re doing? You know, the general population? The ones you rule over? Yeah, those ones” Tom was taunting Harrison.
“Oh and Iezebel! If she could see you now imagine how angry she’d be with you. Or your father? The greatest King we’ve ever had? And to see his only son keeping an angel in the castle? His ONLY SON who can hardly make a flame? Disappointing”
Heat had long since risen to Harrison’s face and ears. They were deep red, his fists clench and chin jut out. While Tom…
He seemed light as air.
“Honestly I would be too. I can only imagine what he thinks” Harrison looked up at Tom as he finished. Tom was shaking his head. How could someone so weak be King?
As Tom left the library he could only think that Harrison didn’t deserve to be King. He didn’t deserve half of what he got and yet it was still his.
A/N: Hello! it’s here! idk why my parts are so short recently but uhhh idk.

“Shes dead, your majesty”
“What do you mean she’s dead?” Harrison’s voiced was somewhere between fear, confusion, and worry, on the verge of cracking but he didn’t care. His wife was dead.
“The hounds. They attacked her”
“Why?” It felt like tunnel vision. Nothing existed or mattered outside of what this guard was telling him.
“We’re not sure, your majesty. We couldn’t hold them back. I’m very sorry” The guard, Amaros, spoke slowly, his breath finally regulated.
“Sorry doesn’t bring her back, now does it?” Harrison stormed off, Harry following in close tow.
“Uh your highness don’t you think-” Harry started.
“Go away, Harry. Do something useful”
“I would argue that comforting you after your wife’s untimely death is useful” Harrison stopped in his tracks, turning to Harry.
“Quite frankly, I don’t care what you think” Harrison spat the words, “Go do something else, I’m sure there are a billion things that should be done” He turned around and headed further down the hall, taking the stairs at the end all the way down.
Harry wasn’t sure whether he truly meant what he’d said. They’d grown up as best friends and he knew the sudden change in tone between them was awkward for Harrison. It was for him too, but he was taught to treat a King as a King, and Harrison being King doesn’t change that.
He’d be damned if he ended up like his brother.
Tom was jealous of Harrison. Only Tom and Harrison didn’t know it, but there’s no doubt that that’s what it was. Tom had always wanted power, always dreamt of being King as a child, though that would never happen. It wasn’t his bloodline. Frederick and Dom had thought that the two of them growing up together would make things easier as King and right hand. It had for them.
Oh, how they couldn’t be more wrong.
They got along when they were young, yes. Couldn’t have been better friends. The pair might as well have been attached at the hip, they were so close. But after Harrison was coronated, things changed. Harrison had tried to keep them the same, the same close relationship that they had always had, but after so long of trying to maintain it, with no help from Tom, he stopped trying. He gave up on the friendship. Tom was jealous -no, envious- of Harrison.
Tom was envious, bitter, upset, everything he hadn’t been before. As Harry walked by Toms room, he thought he heard quiet sobs through the heavy doors. He should’ve knocked, but decided against it, he’d never seen his brother so dishevelled. Tears ran down Tom’s cheeks. To say Hary was shocked in an understatement. Demons don’t cry.

“I’m back” Harrison spoke as he took a seat on the ground in front of you. You groaned internally, this was going to be a conversation, You weren’t sure you had the energy for it but replied anyway. Your father had raised you to be respectful, not that hat helped much while you were down here. Nor did it help with the guilt that came with trying to be banished
“I see that” You cringed slightly at the way your voice sounded; raw, broken, and tired. All of which you felt you were as well. Harrison remained silent for a moment, he started at his hands as he fiddled with his fingers.
“My wife is dead” He didn’t look up. You took a moment longer to look at him, try and get a sense of what he was feeling. It took more energy than you would have liked.
“And yet you don’t grieve”
That made him look up at you. His brows were furrowed, a frown on his lips, but still conveyed nothing but confusion. “That’s not true” Something about his tone made him sound childlike, “She was my wife, I loved her. And some hounds just decide to rip her apart? They’re supposed to protect the King. I don’t think killing his wife is exactly a good way to do that”
“You’re upset, but not grieving. Not the same way others would for their dead love” You weren’t sure where you pulled this energy from, but you knew you shouldn’t be exerting it like you are.
Harrison paused for a moment longer, contemplating. “Explain, angel”
So you did. You explained how for most, a dead wife would be the end of everything for them. To lose someone they care so deeply about. It may be slightly different from angels and humans but that most creatures react the same way. How someone else may have isolated themselves, but the first thing he did was come talk to you about it.
The sudden burst of energy was running out as you were talking. You found yourself fading in and out of consciousness. You stopped in the middle of sentences to pause and regain some energy to finish what you were saying. After around the third time, Harrison spoke before you could carry on.
“Angel, do you want to die?” Harrison questioned. It seemed innocent enough, posed the same way someone would ask what was for dinner.
You shook your head, no. “I’ve come to accept it” Truthfully you didn’t want to die, but it was bound to happen. Even angels don’t live forever. You leaned your head against the wall and closed your eyes. You vaguely remember Harrison standing up and shouting at the guards before you slipped out once more.
