For context, my partner and I of SIX YEARS, still dislike the other’s garlic and onion breath.
Shane and Ilya being all hot and heavy, giving each other oxygen with tuna breath— that’s true love right there.

I just imagine, Hollanov’s first meeting in the TV show. Ilya nervously smoking alone, nervous about his English skills, scared to meet new people, thinking that no one wants to be his friend because he looks intimidating, but who introduces himself first? Shane Hollander. Golden retriever, sunshine energy, goofy smile, freckles sparkling across his face and blushing, the initial hand shake— it’s those small moments that Ilya never forgets the kindness from Shane.
(Da, this Hollander is cute. He has beautiful freckles. He wants to be my friend.)
Ilya has never felt kindness in his life, and Shane who is an outsider, was willing to make it known to Ilya that he’s looking forward to seeing Ilya around more often.
It’s these small moments that made Ilya fall first.
I cannot wait to watch Ilya unravel at the thought of being loved and cared for on our screens.
Okay, I know that Heated Rivalry episode four ripped out all our souls. But at least season two will be based on Shane and Ilya having an established romantic relationship. So we can look forward to more domestic Hollanov instead of whatever this club scene was 😩😭🥹
Yo, yo, yo. There’s an epilogue for Heated Rivalry which includes Shane and Ilya inviting Hayden and Jackie to their home for a dinner. The first one after Hayden finds out that Shane is dating Ilya.
Absolutely crazy stuff from Rachel Reid. Includes hot steamy scene from our Hollanov but also an insight to them post Heated Rivalry ending and more unspoken stuff pre The Long Game but also fun banter between Hayden and Ilya. Poor Jackie and Shane 😭
No notes, I gobbled this up.
Heated Rivalry is taking over my life, and I am not worried 😇
You can read it here!
It took me several tries to land on an epilogue for Heated Rivalry that I was happy with. I tried a few different scenes, including one th
The way that they both said their first names in such different ways, but still evoking the same feeling of I need you, I crave you, I want you.
Ilya sounded so desperate for Shane (after ya know…), like he was holding onto his name for so long but couldn’t contain it anymore. Like an explosion but not through his dick :)
Ilya isn’t necessarily waiting for Shane to say something back, but then Shane replies back with Ilya’s name, soft, slow, yearning for him too. I really enjoy the fact that Shane initiated the sex, because it shows us that he’s comfortable — doesn’t need to hide himself when he’s with Ilya.
I don’t know man, if they think a ten year situationship is casual I wonder wtf they think a serious, committed relationship looks like 😭 but I guess we can now find out in season two!!!!!
To keep me sane, and to keep my Zoyalai heart sated, I’ve been reading Rule of Wolves. The garden scene captures Zoya’s vulnerability with Nikolai so well.
“Now she turned and he could see tears on her cheeks. She lifted her hands, the gesture half-pleading, half-lost. "I'm running out of room." This was where Zoya had been seen sneaking off to all those nights-to a lover, but to this monument to grief. This was where she had shed her tears, away from curious eyes, where no one could see her armor fall. And here, the Grisha might live forever, every friend lost, every soldier gone.”
Zoya would never cry in front of anyone. Yet, she chooses to let her tears fall in front of Nikolai, her prince, her king, her confidant. As much as Nikolai tells Zoya he trusts her with all his secrets, she trusts him with hers as well.
I’m very sad we couldn’t see these scenes play out on the Netflix show 🥲
Hartman Thoughts 💭
Let’s talk about the first time that Keyleth is drunk and Vax is sober but they’re actually a couple now.
Obviously, we all know that Keyleth is a loose canon, she’s such a lightweight, is gone by the time she has her second drink, and she’s an absolute hoot to be around.
But can we talk about how endearing Vax finds her and can openly show that he finds her adorable— her hiccups, her flushed cheeks, her crazy inaccurate stories. He loves it all.
He especially loves when she’s all over him but also when she’s telling random people about how much she cares and adores him, “this MAN, my RAVEN warrior is the best thing in my LIFE. No one here is allowed to kiss him, except me” Keyleth stumbling around and talking to whoever she can find.
Vax going “Sweetheart, they’ve heard enough about me. Let’s put that drink down..”
“I’m not even that drunk” 🥴
“I’m sure you aren’t…but give me the drink in your hand, please”
“Okaaaay, but only because you’re handsome and asked nicely” 🤪
And Vax just keeps watching and enjoying her open confessions of love — until she’s had way too much and chewing off everyone’s ear, gets close to taking the mic off of Scanlan, “Vax get her out of here! She’s going to talk our ears off about you!” “Make her shut uppp”.
Okay but, that one scene in Season 3 episode 4, where Keyleth slips on the snow and Vax immediately checks in on her but she rebuffs him, rejects him and you can see his heart bREAK.
I had a lot of feels in that one scene because I hate seeing my Vaxleth babies angsty and sad 😭
But Vaxleth are good now, they kissed, made up, confessed their undying love for one another, and are maybe frolicking in the meadows somewhere, so I’m okay!
