Sunday blessings, friends! How can I pray for you this week? 🙏💗 I have been thinking a lot about the way we assign value and I hope I can encourage you to consider what is most valuable in the eyes of God and his heavenly kingdom. Jesus spoke these words immediately before sending his disciples into Judea to spread the good news. The work Jesus came to do during his time on earth did not fit any earthly measure of success. In the eyes of the religious authorities, his days ended as an ex-communicated blasphemer. In the eyes of the political authorities, they ended as a condemned criminal. Most of his disciples ended their lives with similar fates. But what mattered most to God and those who are blessed by their legacy today was not the misguided labels the world assigned them, but the precious fruit they sowed for later generations to reap. And if you study God’s Word, it is easy to figure out the kind of harvest God is likewise asking from us during our earthly lifetimes. The souls he is calling us to win. The children he longs to call home. The lost, the sinners, and the prodigals. The hurt, the scarred, disabled, and afflicted. The ones with the least social status and influence. The work with the least economic and political value. The work of love, mercy, and grace. God has gifted all of us differently. Some are gifted to provide physical provision, some protection, others compassion, wisdom, and inspiration. Whatever your gifting is, God is going to care very little about how the world values it, but very much about how you use it to value others enough to bring them into the fold. So, if you sometimes get discouraged by a world that fails to value your gifting or see the value of the ones you serve, I hope you can be encouraged by the reminder that God is using you to reap an eternal harvest for his heavenly kingdom.
