Forgive me for being inarticulate, but Silksong's take on growing up in an environment of neglect hits a lot closer to home mainly because of how scaled back everything is. Not necessarily with like magnitude of the crime being committed but the circumstances being uncomfortably familiar and interpersonal. There's hundreds of rulers like the Pale King and Grandmother Silk, but the laser focus on what these kinds of familial relationships under parents who show no emotional intelligence for their children are like, and how these children cope with that kind of absence further elevates the emotional core the first game had.

Like, the difference is whenever I think about the relationship between Grandmother Silk and her children I go "I can name at least 5 people who's parental relationships are exactly like that."
