#TBT July 2015 - One year since arriving in Cali, I was pushing my own twist (😂) on hash, but I was extremely self conscious about it. I had less than a year of experience under my belt and I was constantly pushing back against amateur concentrate experts who pushed the "light is right" agenda. The material I was running was good full season outdoor. I had been in @3rd_gen_familyfarm's class in Humboldt months before and I had been learning from IG daily. I briefly focused on sievetech for a bit in attempt to mollify the naysayers. But then I had to do what I really loved...press hash (which slightly darkens the resin). A few months prior, @frenchycannoli and I had begun using the freeze dryer and though the settings were not dialed in properly, the color difference was enough for me to almost desperately want to understand the machine. It was not from scientific curiosity, but rather serious effort to have more on which to stand on than my reltatively limited working experience (though by then I had already sampled more than 100 bits of hash...writer privileges 😊). "Darker hash is bad,"they said. "You've effed up the hash," they snickered. "No one would want to buy that," they warned. And it hurt...a lot. But I did it anyway. I lOVE pressed hash and how the increased bioavailability of converted THC slams into my face, rendering it numb temporarily. The rush up the bridge of my nose that spreads pleasantly across my brow. Thankfully I am no longer concerned about the opinions of the uninformed. I have smoked enough hash around the world for first hand proof. Funny thing is there has been a resurgence in interest in old school hash. Old me would feel quite self-satisfied with the turn around. Newer me was irritated about the bandwagonning. Newest me says "Sheeit let's get this party started."
