Totally headcanon but I like the idea that Paul keep up with Hasimir Fenrings's exile in the first years of the yihad as Fenring is basically a blind spot for him and wheb you have prescience you kinda fixated on that blind spot.

It's such a shame for the Emperor Shadaam IV and Duke Leto. Leto LOVED the Emperor. Followed him like a brother. And the Emperor was so paranoid he couldn't recognize that TRUE Devotion and Loyalty for what it was, and ended up killing the man who would otherwise have been his most powerful and most loyal ally.

Paul and Irulan, had they been able to come up together in that alliance, would have made for a POWERFUL union that would have given Shadaam EXACTLY the heir he most desired, and it would have created an almost unstoppable political force in the Empire that would have also eliminated the need for Paul's jihad in the first place.

And Hasimir Fenring could have been something of a Mentor for Paul: an ALMOST Kwizatz Haderach overseeing the growth and development of either the TRUE Kwizatz Haderach, or the man who certainly would have been father to them.

nobody asked but my favourite character in Dune is Count Hasimir Fenring, weird humming effeminate guy, "genetic eunuch", failed step in the same breeding program that produced Paul, and the Emperor's best friend and personal assassin.

he shows up at the end of the book, takes one look at Paul, and goes "I'm not gonna kill him he's just a little guy, look at him, he reminds me of me" then leaves.
