Text because it's kind of small and Tumblr likes to eat my image quality in general (plus I spotted some typos Im too lazy to change in the actual images);
Three out of three of Haru's usual disguises actually involve him pretending to be a woman. His disguises are meant to be paired with his brother's, and they find that pairs of opposite sex or two women are much more likely to be ignored than two men. So it's just shinobi logistics, really.
The three usual disguises in question are a pair of sisters; a granddaughter and grandfather; and a bickering couple.

I think that he'd try to focus on wearing colors other than blue while in disguise; just to further separate himself from the character he's playing. (In particular, wearing his usual same flat shoes while in disguise is a pretty rookie mistake I think he's too good to make, especially if the color remains unchanged.)
But sometimes he's pressed for time or low on chakra, so the finer details of her outfit will slip through the cracks. It'll always be miles more important to henge the hair and face,
after all. (And, of course, it's always ten times more effective to wear the actual, physical dress, but that's not always an option either)
He likes to keep his hair length, just henging or dying it a different color. he also often henge's his eyes to look more open, even while he's still squinting underneath the illusion.
Haru naturally has fairly delicate feeling body language— Often highlighted by his love of long sleeves seeming to be in some parallel to your stereotypically "maidenly", 'hiding her face behind a fan' kind of body language. So pretending to be a woman for the mission isn't that hard of a task for him— and when he does, he tends to lean hard into the stereotype of a frail, soft spoken fawn of a woman. Very traditional, very 'oh someone needs to protect that poor girl.'
He's a very good actor in general, and in this scenario he'd really be leaning into his natural strengths. I imagine he'd be spectacular as bait in honeypot missions. A real man eater, enough so that, if he'd been given a few more years alive, it could potentially have been something he became known for. Especially considering his already existing track record of getting the attentions of powerful men (see; the Nara clan heir and Iron Daimyo)
Obviously, he died at 21, a good few years before the first shinobi war even started brewing. But I imagine that, if he were alive at the time, he obviously would have participated in the war
I'm picturing him being thrown face first into the infiltration-honeypot scene. I'm sure there's plenty of missions to be made of infiltrating enemy ranks or trying to seduce and kill important figures or sponsors of their enemies,, Maybe even seduce and influence,,,,
Maybe Haru could even train under Madam Shiranui, who is like the honey pot infiltration expert/teacher of early Konoha. She has a hand in the creation and training of ANBU, designed their uniforms and helps train them in honeypot things wherever necessary. So like, Haru training under her,,,
I think she'd make for a very powerful influence on him, though I could not tell you if she'd be an overall good or bad influence.
She basically ran the Fire capital's shinobi politics scene for decades; She's an ex top class Oiran who's trained countless others in the skills, artistry and seduction required to gain a similar position and power. She is very uniquely positioned to give Haru a similarly uniquely positioned role/tool to use as a shinobi. Their kind of shared charm is three quarters practiced and one quarter inborn, and she hates to see Haru waste the two quarters she can see he already has— especially when one of his quarters does come from naturally Being Like That(tm) which is something infinitely hard to actually teach someone who doesn't already have it.
I think it'd be cool if she took him on as a genuine, personal student instead of her usual shinobi who just get tossed her for shaping up. She saw him and his talents and was immediately like "oohhh I can make something out of that." Then, as their student-teacher dynamic progresses and she helps cultivate his talents, she begins to submit his name for the genuine, important missions. Maybe this would even be how he ends up getting involved in ANBU?
I do think him, Hiro and Shiruka all have the skills for ANBU, they just died before their names could be put on the list. If they'd live long enough, I do think that all three of them would have ended up in ANBU eventually.

I love u Haru and all ur layered drama and strange but hilarious pattern of accidentally on purpose seducing powerful men, ur my favorite silly little guy. The real reason he had to die at 21 was so he couldn't spend the rest of his 20's absoloutley fucking shit up in the shinobi war via infiltrating and seducing enemy leaders till their villages start blowing up from the inside from all the drama he'd designed.
He's so funny to me, everywhere he goes he starts insane relationship drama. He's always involved in something, honestly the village is just lucky he fell for Shikasada because if he had remained just floating around doing whatever, I imagine things could have been way worse depending on who caught his attention (or who's attention caught on him)
Oh god, is Haru y/n? He might be. That's fucking incredible, actually, I'm gonna giggle about that for the rest of the night
