Your POV:

You both have been working together since quite long time now and you both got fond of each other. It is like, you both would NOT miss any opportunity to hang out, if you can help it.

Slowly you started getting these feelings from him. I mean why not? He was caring and not just for show but would actually keep track of your meals, ask you how your day was, etc. Life was just pleasant around him in general.

But when you confronted him he was shocked and raised his voice at you while denying that this could work and has been distant ever since.

You were heart broken and mad at yourself for ruining such a good friendship! It was a torture seeing him everyday and not being able to talk because he would straight up avoid you.

This one time you were sitting alone at the same place near the river, where you both used to hang out. You were just thinking of all the things you've done "wrong" to ruin it.

"Hey! What are you up to? Sitting here, all alone" You looked in the direction of the voice, it was Genma. You smiled back and replied, "Aah not much just soaking in the sunlight. It's pretty cold recently."

To which he smirked and sat next to you. You were not entirely happy with having a company right now but then again for how long were you going to stick to your pity party.

You both started talking and he ended up asking your out for a date. To which you were surprised but said yes. "Enough of being sad" you said to yourself.

That was a start of new era for you two.

Kakashi's POV:

The moment you asked him. He froze right then and there. He didn't know what to say. He was trying to deny the fact that this could possibly be the truth.

The best way out of the situation was to just be a little harsh so that you'd stop being persistent. Because, for him everyone who he ends up loving is taken away from him and he made a pact with himself that he will NEVER be with some other person.

He has been denying himself that he was IN LOVE WITH YOU. And when you confronted him, for him it was a confirmation. Which was out of his normal habit. As much he would have loved to tell you that he feels the same way and hug you right then and there, he cannot forget the pact with himself.

The following days were torturous for him. He hated every minute of it. Watching you over his shoulder but not being able to talk to you because that is what is "Better" for you. IDIOT.

But this one day, he couldn't take it anymore and decided to tell you. but how? So he went to the place by the river where you both usually hang out. So that he can practice at least. To his surprise you were there too. He panicked and hid behind a tree.

Finally after gathering all the strength, he turned towards you with hope. But Genma was there.. awfully close to you and you didn't seem to care.

Then he overheard the conversation.. you were going out with Genma.

He didn't interrupted but went back to his apartment and ended up convincing himself that this is what is better for you.
