Riverbanks
Every other city I can think of, both in the UK and aboard, they make a big thing of being able to eat and drink on the banks of their main river - on wide pavements, broadwalks, beer gardens etc. Apart from the NosDa hostel, there is absolutely nowhere you can do this on the Taff - I think that Cardiff is really missing out. I know we have the Bay, but. I'm gutted that I never got to go to the 'Inn on the River' [Grangetown] - it was shut before my time [ and has now been turned into, wait for it, luxury apartments ] [ my hatred of yuppie flats is another story ]. There are a couple of places that are close to the river, Mochyn Du, Callaghan’s, some community centre in Gabalfa where the fishermen hang out, but they're not On the river. Plenty of unutilised land near Cardiff Central, by the brewery, or back of the cricket stadium . . . . . . rant over !
