The current pedophile fearmongering is kinda fucked up, I know things change over time and all but back when I was a kid in fandom spaces being around adults didn't have any impact in me, same with all of my other <18 friends. The thing that impacted us the most was the lack of information there was on subjects like how to identify some behaviors, but even like that the oldest of us were taught internet safety even if we didn't got taught other information that is heavily more widely available nowadays. Even parental control is easier and common these days and harder to bypass, back when I was younger it was a matter of deleting some lines in a text file to access websites again, if your parents knew that text file even existed. I've seen that this new etiquette of labeling ourselves as antis/pro whatever is just making the internet be an even unsafer place by oversimplifying what a predator is like. You barely briefly interacted with a minor? you get a call out post, that call out post will be found by a <18 person and a) make them think this is reprehensible behavior in all adults b) make them scared of calling out actual dangerous behavior out of a logic of "if this is bad and it got this amount of reaction, I will have to keep my abuser safe by not talking about this, or it will get dangerous for him" c) make them think this is the way of dealing with dangerous behavior instead of being taught what to ACTUALLY do. And a lot of other things that I'm probably missing. Adults, on the other hand, have been lacking to learn what an predator is like, as there are only "safe adults" or pedophiles now. ANYONE can be a pedophile but they're reduced to too superficial ways to identify them. I don't see adults spreading info about the consequences on kids, I don't see adults spreading info about how to identify these behaviors, I don't see adults even knowing how to use blocking features and internet safety in general so even less sharing them, etc etc. I know that there are things that shouldn't happen, such as <18 ending up in a dependent relationship with the adults they interact with and not realizing who they can really rely on IRL; but at least I'd expect adults to actually think and get informed on how to identify abuse and how to give support on that in an actual helpful way for everyone. Not to say that this giving early adults a severe POCD is cutting off <18's inner support circle (I don't know the term in English, sorry). It's insane the amount of people I've read online saying how they feel POCD for being 18 and having a 17yo FRIEND so they cut them off. People are turning paranoid, victims are getting even more fearful to talk, both victims and abusers are getting even more difficult to identify and help.

I hate that I will not be able to participate in the Psychonauts fashion zine bc it's organized by a freak-hater (no surprises on that) and my ex fashion design and haute couture student ass can't take how much it hurts bc it's MY area of expertise.

I was undergoing moral OCD from all the hate messages about my art but luckily enough I was scrolling through the tags and I realized -I'M- the one who's mad, I don't think we even played the same game, the fandom is the one wasting the precious potential of the game and I'm feeling SICK of them, I almost want to rip off my skin.
