Mulling Over Things
Contains swearing and innuendos.
"Here...” Nightmare handed Error woolly, navy blue pyjamas. Error stared at him for a minute, warily getting to his feet and shuffling into the bathroom. He closed the door behind himself, turning his gaze to the bath tub, anxious. Now, properly thinking about it, he didn’t want to go anywhere near the water. He put the pyjamas on the edge of the sink, returning to the bath.
He bit his tongues sharply, reaching towards the bath, dipping his hand into it. It was hot, he took his jacket off, then his jumper and slippers. Glancing at the door, he removed his shorts, getting into the bath hesitantly.
He tensed up at the sensation of the water around him, attempting to relax. The heat of the water was fine, he could stand that, but it was the feeling of it that disturbed him. It felt heavy as he listened to the water running from the tap, hitting the inside of the bath. He sighed, touching his healed rib, rubbing water onto it. Dried blood peeled off, turning a part of the water murky red, which soon disappeared. The door was knocked upon.
“...don’t.” Error mumbled, staring at it warily.
“Just me...” Nightmare answered, opening the door partially, Error curled up.
“...I said ‘don’t’...” He pouted, Nightmare rolled his eye, walking in and closing the door behind him.
“I don’t really care, Error...” He said “I have to give the others baths at least once every two weeks...”
“Why?”
“...because they think it’s funny to cover themselves in dust and blood.” He grinned slightly, amused just by the thought of it. “Honestly, they’re just a bunch of insane toddlers...”
“...insane...immature...toddlers...” Error corrected him, Nightmare chuckled a little, folding a grey towel onto the radiator. He knelt down next to the tub, crossing his arms on the side, resting his head on them. Error looked away, blushing, embarrassed. “C...can you not?”
“Hm?” Nightmare tilted his head, confused. “...I’m not looking there, Error...”
“I know but...I just...I don’t like it...” Error told him quietly, the oil monster grimaced, touching Error’s shoulder lightly. Error flinched in response to the contact, extremely uncomfortable, a tendril grabbed a washcloth. It dunked it into the water, Nightmare held it in his hand. He brushed it across Error’s cheek, watching it grow darker.
“Tell you what...” He rubbed it underneath his chin, Error leaned into it, purring. “If you manage to survive the bath, we’ll go destroy, alright?”
“You keep saying that but...it hasn’t happened yet...”
“Yeah, I know...I wonder who’s stopping me.” Nightmare smirked, prodding Error’s ribcage with the cloth. Error squeaked, jolting away, hearing Nightmare laugh. “How’s your soul?”
“...I haven’t checked...” He replied, glancing at his ribcage. “I think it’s okay...”
“...c’mon.” A tendril pulled the towel off the heater, Error shot an unimpressed glare at Nightmare. “What?”
“M’not getting out.”
“Eh? Why not?”
“‘Coz you’re in here.” Error stated, beginning to blush madly.
“D’you want me to close my eye?”
“No! I want you to get out!” He exclaimed, Nightmare chuckled, a tendril touched his cheek. “N-Night! I swear to fucking god! Get out!” He squeaked, Nightmare shut his eye as the tendril coiled around Error’s chest gently. “N-Nightmare!” He kicked, beyond flustered, sweating and blushing profuselty. He was lifted out the bath, Nightmare wrapped the towel around him, over his shoulders. It hung below his kneecaps, Error shook uncontrollably as the oil monster let him stand.
“I can dry you off, if you want me to.” Nightmare grinned, opening his eye, meeting Error’s furious gaze. “Heh.” The glitch grabbed a bottle of shampoo, throwing it at him full force, hitting Nightmare’s nasal bone.
“G/et ou/t!” Nightmare laughed, leaning forwards, cupping Error’s cheeks with his hands. Error flinched, disliking the entire ordeal, he was pulled into his arms.
“Calm yourself...” Error struggled, hugging the towel around himself, shuddering at the cold Nightmare produced. The tendrils spun around him, gradually heating up, Nightmare held him in the air. He took the pyjamas, slipping the trousers up Error’s legs and over his hips, then setting him down on the floor.
“B-b...b/as//t/ard...!” Error kicked at him, quivering as Nightmare tugged the jumper over his skull. “M-mm/gh...” Discomfited, he felt Nightmare pull him back into a hug.
“You okay?”
“N//o!”
“...here...” Nightmare picked him up, into his arms, pushing his slippers onto his feet. “...c’mon...you can lie down whilst I get your clothes cleaned, okay?” He said, Error didn’t reply, thoughts racing through his skull as he was carried back into the bedroom, onto the bed. Nightmare rubbed the top of his skull lightly, leaving him be for the moment. He took his clothes from the bathroom, teleporting in the washroom, shoving them into a washing machine. He returned to Error, watching him curl up in his covers, no definite expression on his face.
“...N...Night?” He began, Nightmare looked at him, sitting down.
“What?”
“...I...” Error paused, biting his tongues, contemplating what he was about to say. “...next time I...go for a bath...could you...m/ayb//e...” He grabbed his pillow, shoving it over his face, embarrassed. “...could you...sit with me?”
“What? Like what I did just there?”
“No...n/o, I...I mean...in the bath...with m/e...?” Nightmare stared at him, tilting his head, listening to his partially muffled words. He shrugged to himself, uncaring, stroking the top of Error’s skull again.
“Yeah, sure...” He smiled “As long as you don’t throw another bottle of shampoo at me...”
“S...sorry...”
“It’s fine, I’ve had worse things thrown...heh.”
