The art of trash talk

Whether its fantasy sports, actual sports, board games, or even classes what really makes them enjoyable, is an often overlooked aspect, which is the art of talking trash. Trash talk is something that can make or break a fantasy football league or even a game of monopoly. When trying to learn the technique and what makes people good or bad at talking trash its often difficult to identify. While doing a detailed case study of trash-talkology I came to a few conclusions of to maximize ones ability to talk the talk regardless of whether you can actually walk the walk.

Step 1: Know your audience. 

No one wants to hear someone who constantly crosses the line with their trash talk and continues to offend the audience. And on the flip side it is boring engaging in a battle of wits with someone who only says stuff like “Oh yeah well you are not very good at tennis, and I am better than you.” Unoriginal. Not creative. Just plain bad. Definitely play to your audience and figure out where the line is so you can dance around it with witty comments that are both funny and appropriate. 

Step 2: Wait for your Opportunities.

Don’t be the douchebag that makes comment after comment, putting people down. Be the douchebag that makes one really funny comment that people remember, and pass on the story to their family and friends to laugh at them for years to come. Trust me, you will b much more liked and people will actually enjoy your trash talk. 

Step 3: Actually back it up. 

This is very important for your credibility among the trash talking community. The people who talk trash and lose are the people who wear Dunce Caps in the corner and have the entire school pick on them and call them a loser. Don’t be the dunce, learn to be good if you want to talk trash, always remember we trash talkers are the elite.

Step 4: Have fun with it.

It may not be fun to talk trash to the nicest person on the face of the planet. They will think you’re being sincere, you’ll feel bad and no one wins. Talking trash to the your best friend after they strike out with this girl they’ve been crushing on for months however could be an extremely enjoyable experience for your entire friend group. So remember kids, HAVE FUNNNNN WITH IT.
