As far as I am aware, Hatherleigh and Ottery St Mary are the only two villages left in England who continue to run the burning tar barrels. This video is from the first run on the thirteenth of November 2021. The first run of the barrels is at 5am, and there will be another this evening. Traditionally believed that running the barrels banishes the evil spirits from the village.
