For the ask questions I was wondering about how you unlocked your love of writing. Was it a certain book you read? Many books you read? Or was it something completely different that sparked your passion? I don't know, I always love learning how people discovered their passions. Maybe unlocked is the wrong term but how did you discover your love for writing?
Well, I always had a love for reading and literature. Matilda was my role model. I was always blown away by how someone’s stories could entertain me for days on end.
I liked writing, but all I’d ever done were those essays in school about what I did on summer break or whatever. My teachers always said I had extensive vocabulary and relayed stories (about my life) well, but I didn’t really think much of it.
When I got to my freshman year of high school, the main type of writing was fictional. I also had a TA so they also had us doing fiction writing. I had to write plays and short, short stories (that still ended up being longer than most). And that was also the year I started reading fanfiction. I got so invested in one and asked the writer if I could write the other pov in the relationship, and she agreed. (That’s Atelophobia for anyone who read it.)
After that, I just kind of... took off? I wrote One Direction self-inserts and more percico. One Percico story got really big on Wattpad, and I get asks about it still. It was called Since We Met. Then I started Solangelo which got big on tumblr because of Secrets of the Sea. Now I write Klance and Hidge aha.
But I also always had separate novel ideas I wanted to write that are in drafts on my drive. I think freshman year was really the turning point. And as my anxiety and depression worsened, the more I turned to writing to feel okay.
Now it’s my major! Life is funny like that.
