Blackground relaunches itself then surprises Team Aaliyah with an AaliyahIsComing website, hashtag, followed by a promotional tour that would last for the next few months celebrating the release of Aaliyah’s music.

For the new few months, fans are treated with rare photography, Aaliyah on the front pages of newspapers and magazine article, Aaliyah plastered all over Time Square billboards all over the world with fans sharing their sightings.

The release of Aaliyah’s music would divide Aaliyah fans with majority supporting the music’s release (just not supporting Blackground) but this wouldn’t stop the wrath of Rashad (Aaliyah’s brother) from blocking you; who would go on to block dozens of fan accounts who supported the music’s release.

The Haughton’s made an official statement on their platform urging fans to “stand with Aaliyah” and left fans in the dark speculating on why.
