A residual haunt, also known as a psychic impression, occurs when a spirit leaves a piece of their essence stuck in a singular moment while the rest of their soul moves on. They stay in the same spot, repeat the same actions, and don't notice when the architecture around them changes.
Hence the wall-walking.
