Darkness loomed over the crowded streets of Tokyo. The sounds of the cold wind howling into the darkness above the gaslights as a small cold breeze sweep over the city itself. The sun slowly setting just below the horizon, marking an end to another day here in the land of the rising sun. Of course, living here in the city would be just about as busy as usual with the people going about their daily lives. But for the assassin, Kazetani Tadamichi, it was almost as if everything that had fallen around him.
It has been over 22 years since the Boshin War, and at this moment in time, the assassins of Japan had literally dwindled in numbers. Ever since the war between the Tokugawa Shogun and the Meiji Emperor, the Templars had been hunting down key members of the brotherhood, dwindling their influence and pushing them out of the country. Now with the Templars having full control of Japan they have placed political puppets within the imperial court and had been secretly pulling the emperor’s strings from the shadows. There was no portion of Japanese society that they do not control, nor any industry that escapes their grim touch.
Now, with Tadamichi being one of the few remaining assassins in Japan, he was now being actively hunted by the Templars in an effort to wipe out any remaining traces of the brotherhood. Still, it would be like any day that Tadamichi himself that trouble would follow him around.
The assassin would soon shake out of his own thoughts when he happens to lay eyes on his target, Yuyuko Saigyouji, or known as “The Cherry Blossom Killer.” If he were to recall correctly, Yuyuko was a daughter of a noble house and suspected power behind an arms dealer. She had been a target of the Brotherhood for at least several years, and Tadamichi had a hard time trying to track her since the assassins were almost diminished which made intelligence gathering extremely difficult. But with Yuyuko showing up at a dinner party, she pretty much did more than enough to sign in her own death warrant.
Yet, for some odd reason, the assassin had this gut feeling that this so-called party was a trap set up since the intel almost felt too good to be true. Which means that he’ll have to proceed with extreme caution. Taking a deep breath, Tadamichi slowly dawns his hood and moves in towards his intended target, stealthfully moving amongst the crowd while careful not to draw attention to himself.
