FRANK SHAVER ALLEN HOUSE - 1887 - The home of architect and Egyptologist, Frank Shaver Allen (1860-1834), is reputed to be one of Joliet, Illinois' "Most Haunted" houses. This residence, reportedly, is not only haunted by the spirit of Allen himself, but is the eternal abode of a pair of women caretakers (possibly a maid and/or a nanny) and the playful poltergeist of a young boy. Investigated by paranormal researchers as far back as the 1960s, this house has been said to demonstrate a range of ghostly activity: spectral apparitions, shadowy figures, unknown voices, moving doors and objects, unaccounted-for cold spots, etc. New generations of paranormal investigators, visiting the haunted-house-rich town of Joliet, have now begun to explore the strange happenings at the Allen House (including a few paranormal TV shows).
