can i kindly ask for kovic fluff? <3
Hope this fits your expectations! I have to admit, haven’t written Kovic in a while, so my apologies if it isn’t quite 100% accurate characterization.
Pairing: Kovic/readerWarnings: Idk there might be some swears? It’s all pretty cute <3
You knew from the moment you woke up that morning that itwasn’t going to be “just another day at the office.”
You could feel the tug of excitement from Adam as soon asyou were conscious enough to feel the sun on your face and hear your alarmblaring next to your head. Even though you and Adam now worked together as wellas being together-together, there were days like these where one of you wouldwake up and the other would be long gone, needing to go in early for somethingor other. And days like today, where Adam decided/needed to go in early and you had an appointment with yourdoctor.
Didn’t mean it didn’t suck waking up to an empty bed.
You snatched up your phone as you rolled out of bed, sendinga quick “why are you so giddy thismorning?” as you shuffled into the bathroom. You phone rang while you werebrushing your teeth.
“Gooood morning!” Youheard as soon as you accepted the call. You made a noise of affirmation andthen quickly spit and rinsed.
“You going to answer my question or not, Kovic?” You askedgood-humoredly while you fixed your hair.
“What, Kovic, I can’tjust be happy and excited to see you when you get here? I can’t love my wife?” Hesaid, mock-offended, and you could picturehis aghast expression and hand pressed dramatically to his chest.
“Not with that attitude.” You heard Adam huff dramatically.
“Fine. I have asurprise for you, my lovely, beautiful wife and co-worker. But that’s allyou’re getting out of me, missy.” He finally admitted, and you did a mentalcheer as you finished up in the bathroom and headed towards the front door.
“Well, your lovely, beautiful wife and co-worker is ready todrive to work now, so I gotta go. See you soon, love you!” You chirped, Adamparroting the sentiment back to you before the line went dead.
You and Adam had been together for a long time – pre-FH,actually – but you had only recently quit your old job and joined the team asan editor and coordinator. For the past six months, you’ve relished in beingable to see Adam during the day as well as at night, but the result of you bothworking long hours and Adam having to fly to Austin semi-frequently meant thatthe two of you hadn’t had a lot of “[Y/N] and Adam hanging out alone time.”
Not that you minded. You were legitimately fine with thetrade-off. Your old job had been so far away that you would be leaving beforeAdam got up and by the time you got home, it would be dark and all you’d wantto do was sleep. So you at least got to see him more often.
You immediately knew that Adam had colluded with yourco-workers when you walked into the office after your appointment and Jamesimmediately yelled “Shhh!” whileBruce slapped a hand over Lawrence’s mouth. Adam was nowhere to be seen.
“So, he’s got all y’all in on this, has he?” You asked, raising one eyebrow incredulously.
Everyone in the room shook their heads simultaneously. Itwas actually kind of creepy, like the twins from the Shining multipliedby…well, a number bigger than two.
(Peake had his back to you and was editing, so he missed outon the head-shaking, but you were positive that Matt was the first person Adamtold).
“Alright, then. Should I go find my husband, or should Ilike, actually do my job?”
Bruce opened his mouth, but Elyse beat him to it, “Go findthe man, [Y/N]. It’s a slow day.” She insisted, and while you saw Bruce giveher a Look that screamed what the fuckare you talking about, you smiled at her and nodded, heading her advice.
Elyse was probably a better judge than any of the boys aboutwhat you should be doing in regards to Adam, anyway.
You started off on your hunt for Adam, checking in with theBungalow Boys, stairwells, other offices that housed people you had never seenbefore in your entire life – nothing.
You were about to give up when you got a text.
[From: Adam 11:30:25AM]Gotta go up 😉
You sighed and trudged up the stairs until there were nomore stairs left, and you saw that the door to the roof was propped open.
“Adam?” You called out, pushing the door open and steppingonto the roof, being careful that the block was still holding the door open(didn’t want to get stuck up here, did we now? No. That’d be shitty).
The roof was rather large, but sitting right in front of youwas some sort of large air…conditioning…thing? You skirted around it as it madea couple of weird thumping noises and almost missed Adam’s “Ta-da!” and matching pose.
Adam was standing in the middle of what looked like a TikiBar. There were torches with fake fire and gaudy multi-colored ball lightsstrung in between them. Two beach chairs were situated on one side of a kiddiepool, a wicker table placed between them. There was an open cooler with beerbottles stuck in it and three rubber duckies dressed like cats bobbed gently inthe pool.
“What is all this?” You asked, walking into his open armsand giving him a hug before he could respond.
“Well,” He started while you kissed his jaw a couple times,“I wanted to do something special, but there were no occasions coming up orjust past that warranted it. Then Peake reminded me of that Tiki Bar like, wentto almost every night. And I love you.”
“Aww, Adam, it’s perfect.” You cheered, giving him a sweetkiss. He ushered you into one of the chairs, helping you pull off your shoesand socks and instructing you to set your feet in the pool. He ducked behindyou, reappearing moments later, his arms laden with takeout from your favoritefast-food place.
You knew you two had to go back to work eventually, but yourelished this moment, holding your husband’s hand as the two of you chowed downand enjoyed each other’s company in relative silence.
Yeah, it was kind of tough sometimes, not having much timeto yourselves, but moments like this made it worth it.
