Mai Fen did glance away when he sat, head nearly fully turning over her shoulder. Perhaps on instinct, or perhaps just out of spite. Though, she couldn't be too ornery about the situation at hand. After all, she volunteered herself. She could still remember every second of that night.
After endless battles, Camion ha finally come to council with Deucalion. Being one of her son's main advisors, Mai Fen was in attendance. When peace was brokered, and the deal for a new bride was set on the table, Mai Fen could still remember seeing Camion immediately look to his three sisters. In that moment, Mai Fen knew she could not sit idly as one of her daughter was sent off to marry a man old enough to be their father. To see any of their beautiful faces weeping on their wedding day. So, Mai Fen stood, like a knight coming before a dragon, and announced that she would be the only to marry King Deucalion. Much to the shock of everyone, her children especially. However, Mai Fen was just surprised when Deucalion agreed.
Nevertheless, she tried to remind herself she could not cower in this marriage. This wasn't submission on her part or her kingdom's, it was peace. Mai Fen knew their marriage should reflect that.
So, she turned back to look at her new husband dead-on, her dark eyes meeting his mismatched ones. "I am settling fine," she started, "A tailor was sent earlier for my measurements, but I should like to keep my style of gowns. I am still partial to them, but I shall transition to more of your house's colors if you should like."
Mai Fen, even after marrying the late Gael Celtigar, still kept the styles of her Yi Tish heritage. Something she hoped to keep.
"As for my ladies, I should like two positions to be filled by my daughters, Laela and Aelora. Prior to this marriage, I oversaw their own courtships and should like to continue to do so. And once Gaella comes of age, I would like a spot for her as well in the future. As for the other four positions, I'm sure your advisors are already flocking to you with their daughters in tow."
