Have you ever tried to tap into your intuition only to find yourself second-guessing everything, thinking way too hard about it, and then realizing that you weren’t getting to that deep, juicy internal knowing at all? Yeah, me too! I think most—if not all—of us know this story. My guest this week, Angela Fareri @angela_fareri, and I talked about how one of the keys to getting to that magical intuitive place is not to let yourself think about it too much. “Well, that’s great,” you ask, “but how do you actually DO that?” One of the easiest ways to force yourself to bypass your thinking mind is to make sure you don’t have time to go there. Let’s days you’re bored with the subjects you’ve been writing about lately. Take out a sheet of paper or notebook, number it 1-10, and set a timer for one minute. Write down every idea you can think of in that one minute—and stop when the timer goes off. Will they all be fabulous, brilliant ideas? Of course not! You may not end up using any of them as written. But you’ll probably come up with at least one idea you wouldn’t have generated by sitting around thinking about it for hours on end. (For more fun, pair up with a friend and see who can come up with the most ideas—or the most ridiculous ideas—in one minute. Share your lists, have a good laugh as necessary, and see what else comes up as you lower the pressure. I promise you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the results.
