1. What’s their full name? Why was that chosen? Does it mean anything?
Haven Faust. I picked Havenbecause of his role in the story and his personal character motivations. Insideof the story its significant as well because he was named that to honor hisfather’s dead sister who passed River’s contract to Callain just before she waskilled. Haven obviously means exactly what it means, a safe place. Which isbasically what Haven is looking for his entire life and eventually ends upcreating for himself and the others he loves and cares about. I just thoughtthe last name sounded cool tbh.
15. Are they good at cooking?Do they enjoy it? What do others think of their cooking?
He can make like 7 meals andhe has one set to cook for each day of the week. He cooks out of necessity I suppose. As soon as he can abandon cooking he does. Haden and Hal are so tired of potatosoup please Haven learn to cook something else for the love of anything we areso tired.
21. Do they have a temper? Are they patient? What are they like when they do lose their temper?
At the beginning of his storyyeah he definitely has a temper. He has like 2 patient bones in his body andlashes out a lot. He mostly simmers until he reaches a breaking point where hebecomes absolutely unreasonable. The man has a sharp tongue and a lot ofinternalized anger about basically everything. Later on though he chills out alot and gets to the point where he’s mostly Pretty Cool™.
28. What is their biggestfear? What in general scares them? How do they act when they’re scared?
You are a jerk for askingthis you totally already know the answer. He just wants to keep his brotherssafe. His biggest fear is losing them. He’s also very afraid of Venette but atleast he knows how to deal with her. Umm a general fear hmmm. He’s afraid ofthe dark. I mean he was really scared when he was younger and now he’s a lotbetter at dealing with it but it still lingers. He’s generally veryconfrontational and tense when scared.
35. What’s their guiltypleasure? What is their totally unguilty pleasure?
I don’t think he has any guilty pleasures honestly. Histotally unguilty pleasure is sewing. He is a clothing master. He will make thatfabric his bitch. He also likes music. It’s very calming to him.
45. How do other people seethem? Is it similar to how they see themselves?
This is a hard question because there’s a lot of otherpeople that see him a lot of different ways. A majority of strangers and acquaintancessee him as very capable and strong. Closer friends would use words like “unreasonablyheadstrong” and “doesn’t fucking understand team work” and possibly “simultaneouslythe strongest and most self-deprecating person I have ever met”. Haven isincredibly self-critical, however he has very little trust in others so in acontest between what he thinks is the right course of action and someone else’s,he always chooses his own.
Haven: 2, 20, 28, 29, 45
2. What is/was your character’s relationship with their mother like? You are a terribe person for asking this question oh my god you know the answer which makes it worse. Okay. Haven’s relationship with his mother is fond remembrance. There may also be a little bit of resentment for leaving him all alone with his two baby brothers. I think that would mostly just be his emotional trauma talking though. He would never truely resent her for something that wasn’t her fault. 20. In what ways does your character compare themselves to others? Do they do this for the sake of self-validation, or self-criticism?Oh he definitely compares himself for the sake of self-criticism. He’s always comparing himself like look at that person dealing with their trauma in a reasonable nondestructive way wow wish I was a functioning person. He beats himself up over it a lot. 28. How quick or slow is your character to resort to physical violence in a confrontation? His flight has been crossed off his fight or flight response. He is very quick to resort to physical violence in a confrontation because its something he knows how to do. As his story progresses though he calms down. Once he begins to realize that he and his brothers are safe and starts to have people he can trust around him he relaxs. It gets to a point where he gives up fighting almost completely because he hates it. Its not something he enjoys diong and just reminds him of when he had to do it to survive. 29. What did your character dream of being or doing as a child? Did that dream come true?Haven wanted to settle down and have friends. He was always traveling with his family and he never really got to have a stable home. Yes. He did eventually achieve that dream. He extended it too. He brought many people who didn’t have homes or places to go together to form his own family and create his “haven”. 45. What does your character believe will happen to them after they die? Does this belief scare them?Haven’s not really too concerned with it. He has bigger fish to fry. However River did tell him once that dying was like going home. That when he died and passed on to the place that he was meant to be he would be at peace and he would remember being whole again. He has no real idea what that means but hes okay with it. It doesn’t scare him.
