(3) For example, I know that the eyes are one of the most important features, and yet I'm having trouble drawing better eyes now. I'm sure that if I just drew huge-ass stereotypical anime eyes, I would have learned to downsize/shade correctly, and I wouldn't be having this problem. I think people should realize that these beginning artists (because adults could be beginners as well!) are just starting, and they will learn more and more as they develop and draw more.

(4) Bluntly speaking, let them fuck up, so they can love 'arting' in the first place, then they can learn so that their art turns out amazing in the end. By turning developing artists away, they turn away potentially innovative creators, which in turn, can produce fanart that the masses can consume and enjoy

It’s hard to say whether learning to draw big anime eyes as a kid would have helped or hindered your progress. I can say that I know many people developed their art styles that way (me included) but not all. I mean, you can go back and relearn anime eyes and go from there, or you can just focus on the point you’re at now and build on.

But I agree. It’s the same with writing fanfics, really (this is more my area so I’m gonna keep making the comparisons). I started writing the really terrible cliche, trope filled, crossovers and high school AUs full of 1D characters and self insert OCs and you know what? they were fucking fun. And allowed me to practice other things. And if I still throw in the odd trope into a fic, then at least I know how to write it now because I played around with it in the past. It’s not so much that they ‘fuck up’, more that.... you kind of learn to manage one thing at a time before you can throw them all together well, if that makes sense?

Cat AU asks and messages

Yura was probably an angel the first couple weeks Victor had him, napping all the time, and purring on Victor’s bed. Then he got used to the environment and became the destructive hurricane of energy we all love now <3 I like to imagine Victor initially was like “Wow, having a cat is easy! This is great!” And then one day he came home to a bored cat, and shredded couch cushions.

Yuri was probably the cutest fluff ever, and honestly I’m crying just thinking about that marshmallow giving the smallest meows. Can you imagine!?

AHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH!!! He’d definitely do this! He’d just take a whole piece of fish and run, omg!

Victor would still say he’s the most handsome cat and cuddle buddy ever though <3

Yura would probably hiss and bat at the cone whenever he was near.

oh my god, he would! In canon he has something like 4000+ photos of Makkachin? That would be the level of dedication he shows Yura and Yuri!

Goofy photos of Yuri are pretty common. He falls asleep barely hanging on to objects, sliding off the ledges and bed when he stretches.

Yura once tried to pounce on a bird outside the window and went face first into the glass.

i'm not gonna lie your yuri on ice art makes me cry; everything's so beautiful and i wish i had patience to paint like you do...but i guess you have plenty of practice of painting...how did you develop the skill, like did you do exercises? have a good day~

Like anything in life, it takes time to develop a skill: yes, I do have plenty of practice, i.e every day I draw, because I like it, and also because I know my work could be better.

 But it’s not enough to just draw generally every day, if you have anything you’re weak at, work on that more and focus on it until you’ve fully got it. I guess if there’s anything I do that could be called an “exercise”, it would be to always learn (and draw) something unconventional, something that pushes against your own status quo, because you shouldn’t be comfortable if you’re wanting to improve

Here’s a tip with painting: If you don’t know how to draw something comprehensible to you (as in with lines) or if you don’t know the form of it like the back of your hand, your painting will suffer as a result. Drawing is via line, painting is formed through strokes, which is collectively lines. I have so many analogies for that but i won’t put you through such torture ha ha

Putting forth a consistent effort is the key, (truly) good things always take more time to create, and the time and effort invested into whatever you have interest in will always be significantly more stable in result than, say, a chance encounter with a good piece of art, so patience is by and large a necessary virtue to learn ʕʘ‿ ʘʔ
