something so special to me is the fact that Hawkeye was the one to reveal that Ed was in love with Winry. Mind you, she didn't even know Ed on such a personal level in comparison to the other chracters. it tells me everything I need to know about her relationship with Mustang. She knows the love Ed has like the back of her hand, because she harbors the exact same feelings for Mustang. They'd both go to hell and back, become sword and shield, carry the entire weight of the world on their shoulders for the one they love. so instead of having someone obvious like al be the one to opens ed’s eyes to the revelation, it’s the one who’s recognized and cultivated that same kind of love long before him
