Blanc whimper of fear/grief when he thinks he got Helen killed in glass onion HUGE character moment btw

#N posts stuff #because Blanc is always so On Top of things he’s a character hard to catch by surprise #in the first movie we see Alarm when white boy suddenly tries to stab Marta but we don’t really sit in that moment #very long before the ‘false knife’ reveal so it’s not a Deep emotional moment it’s a final shock/call back detail #Jud also has a Danger Moment when he gets his shit rocked by Samson but Blanc’s not there for that #and TBH by the time other people start dying in WUDM Blanc has Already keyed in to what happened #like he Stalls about Samson’s death but he Immediately starts calling Nat bc he already figured it out #So glass onion really stands out bc it’s the film where Blanc is on the back foot most severely #and you can See the Game of it all when Blanc is proposing his plan to Helen and then he backs off a little when she asks #if it’s safe and catches up to what he’s actually proposing. but then you see him get caught up in the Game of it again #i loveeeeee Blanc’s tendency to get More vague and confusing once he’s Figured It Out — first movie donut hole rambling #even while Marta is visibly ‘WTF’ at him; wudm too Blanc gets weirdly winding — ‘i showed you did you see? you Thought #you saw’ about the two devil head reveal; he does the same thing in glass onion in the seconds before helen gets shot #when he’s all ‘it’s all in Plain Sight there’s just one final clue YOU have to find’ he’s Playing Tuoys #but then helen gets shot. and it hits him in the teeth all at once ‘i was PLAYING and she got HURT’#its a Good Beat. no one talks about glass onion enough lmao; but it’s interesting how this kick in the teeth #is done More in wudm — Jud’s ‘i put my faith in you’ breakdown that Blanc is visibly disturbed by #the later Louise scene where Blanc sits quietly in an empty office and broods instead of going to hunt alone #the fall out where he argues with Jud / the crash out with the damascus thing for martha. wild!#fourth movie i have to wonder if they’ll push it further #OK enough stalling time to Type

what i can say is that i do love writing judblanc for how these characters turn Every Single moment they choose to either lie (or not say the truth out loud) to each other OR choose to share a secret with one another into an Extremely rich character beat, which is a kind of mindfulness i find fascinatinggg

#N posts stuff #traces back to their first meeting where Blanc enters choosing not to disclose the fact that he’s a detective #and then equally deliberately chooses to be honest with Jud about his views on the church #and Jud meets that honesty with his own — disregarding what he Should say as a Priest to be honest w Blanc about it #being ‘storytelling’ ONLY for Jud to exit the conversation choosing not to disclose the fact that he hid the flask #the narrative format of this movie will always be the Greatest thing in the world to me for how it allows us to see #that shot of Jud at the desk hesitating over his writing and looking at blanc and then very deliberately choosing to lie to him #BEFORE we even get to see Blanc and Jud actually Meet on screen. i Love that the first on screen moment of #their dynamic is Jud lying to him <3 and then re: Secrets insert one of tumblr user @Judblanc’s posts here #about how Jud and Blanc are absolutely lowkey getting off on the fact that they share the Eves Apple secret #and have to lie about this to everyone around them forever <3 they are so!!!#anyway writing this fic being So deliberate about each time Jud and Blanc lie to each other bc it Says Something #about how they perceive each other every single time and then also having it be an Actively Intimate beat #whenever they admit to something or share a secret to one another bc they are INSANE <3333 #it’s literally so much fun :3 ‘finalized’ 5 chapters so far today BTW 25% of the way through and ooh babey #these chapters are only getting Longer.
