What were the inspirations behind the creations of each of your oc's? :)

Aaaa the answer might be funny or disappointing I’m not sure but I can tell you EXACTLY what inspired the creation of Tindryst. It was these goggles.

I saw them and the really dramatic blood elf dudes’ death animation and thought, “I want a blood elf hunter to feign death while wearing these to get out of a bar fight.” The rest spun up around Dionys and us going “uh what do we rp? Ooh they were farstriders! They’re not now, though”

Lyrennus was “well, Tin left the farstriders cause stuff went bad and he got in a fight with his dad, who was a big important farstrider.” He didn’t exist beyond that until wrath of the Lich king, at which point I had a DK tindryst and this hunter alt that USED to be him I suddenly wasn’t using, so his dad got to exist on screen in rp enough to start getting a personality. I knew he was cranky, professional, and that his wife became wretched and died. Because I am and always have been obsessed with wretched blood elves and will put them in everything.

Which is a nice segue to Lar. I have absolutely no memory of what I was thinking when I made Lar, and I made up all of his early character traits on the spot. He was just an alt I made to sit around silvermoon hassling people, which is how he ended up hassling one of Devon’s pre-Dionys alts, so he’s how we met and why the other ones had the chance to exist. I listened to way too much Radiohead and was a chronically ill, as of yet undiagnosed with anything teenager trying to cope by making up imaginary dudes to think about instead of where I was sitting any given moment, and somehow managed to stay lodged in my brain well into my 30’s now.

(Bonus, Not inspiration for the character initially but for a big old plot point- the death knight stuff only happened because I had a dream about it and thought it would be neat, so we did it and figured out the hows and why’s after the fact.)

The OCs that had solid inspirations and personalities when I sketched them out never lasted, and I can’t remember half of them, but the ones that were a gimmick grew like fungus and things got out of hand. This might just be the equivalent of me crawling up a tall stalk of grass to release cordyceps spores like a possessed ant.
