Crepis atribarba (Slender Hawksbeard) with honeybee

Hawksbeard is a genus native to the Northern Hemisphere and Africa and now found in every corner of the world. Crepis atribarba is our local species in British Columbia. Although they look a lot like dandelions the most obvious difference is that dandelion flowers grow on individual stalks, whereas the hawksbeard has several flowers on the same stalk. Hawksbeard is very common in my neighborhood. Indeed, I took these photos last summer in the back garden.
