Hawks Soar to East Finals
The Atlanta Hawks are on to the Eastern Conference Finals after a nail-biting 94-91 win over the Wizards, to win their best-of-seven series, 4-2. The game’s outcome was in the balance after Paul Pierce made an impossible three-pointer, but a hair too late at the buzzer. Atlanta blew a 15-point lead as the Wizards took the lead briefly late in the fourth, but the Hawks were able to withstand Washington’s rally behind Jeff Teague (20 points and seven assists), Paul Millsap (20 points and 13 rebounds) and led by DeMarre Carroll’s 25 points and ten rebounds.
Bradley Beal’s 29 points led the Wizards and his back court mate John Wall put in 20 for Washington who goes home for the summer in the same round as they did last season.
This is the Hawks first trip to a conference finals since 1970. Game 1 of the East finals between Atlanta and the Cleveland Cavaliers is set for Wednesday night in “The Highlight Factory” of Philips Arena in Atlanta. TNT has the coverage of the entire series.
