On the not-so-evil-surface narry level, Mack will probably watch more Barracuda games, get another bro to hang out with and Carson sometimes finds himself caught between WillMack activities that he somehow feels like he's thirdwheeling (buddy ikr). On the chara study level, I do think it's gonna benefit Mack, since Mack used to move around a lot, he never got enough time to really "know-know" his teammates and friends on a deeper level, it's more like "oh, great playing with u this year, I'll see u when I see u". Mack talked about how he didn't grow up in the Bay Area, so he didn't build relationships in San Jose outside of the team & family on Spittin Chiclets. I do think he craves the relationship building at a young age part, I mean I would too, childhood friends and long term friends that understand you, been through the same shits with you, are very important. Especially now that Mack is in SJ for long term, Carson is going to be another piece of the puzzle that will fit very well. Potentially, Mack will be able to have another person that he'll be comfortable with, that he'll be able to be himself with. That's healthy for personal growth I'd say!
In terms of "would the addition of a childhood friend and personal growth affect WM's dynamic?" Oooof, I think there's many many routes and webweaving we can dive into. It could be Mack having more social confidence with Carson being there, hence exploring more interpersonal time outside of his WillMack bubble. It's not necessarily a bad thing. You know, when you rekindle an old friend it feels very good at the beginning, but then you realise something is missing? Like yeah you can talk for hours about stories of the games you played at the North Shore Winter Club when you were tiny potatoes. But then the old friend didn't go through the whole 80 games in one season with you (Will's IR also counts), didn't room with you on recent roadies, didn't experience Olympic heartbreak with you. Then you would feel extra special and precious about the relationship & partner you have right now, ie Mack would feel extra close with Will, cos Carson reminded him of that. It's a long stretch, I know I know lol
Anyways, I will definitely enjoy fics on jelly Will, heck I love any reason to have jelly Will :)
