hiii bestie! yes i did! i listened to those songs:

hala hala - really fun, i like the mood switches throughout the song. like it starts with this rather mellow electric keyboard esque intro then the rap comes in then boom the beat, really sick build up! and that same pattern of slowing down then building up with interesting beat drops continues which i really loved! also, this is NOT the title track? madness luv …

pirate king - i love any song that has a GRRRRAHH!! (taeyong in tiger inside mwah) so this already started off great. i love the chorus!!! catch me going mmmmhhhh ohhhh ehhh ohhhhh at any given time of the day. the voice of the member who does that (sorry i dont know any names) reminds me a little of felix from stray kids and i’m obsessed with his voice lol

wonderland - the near complete silence before the chorus is so sick, it really makes you anticipate what is about to happen! also love the orchestra bits sprinkled in throughout the song, strings and winds in kpop songs era i miss you (sixth sense by brown eyed girls the blueprint)

thanxx - i like the vocal only chorus in this…. as i write this i realize i seem to be liking the chorus parts of their songs a lot jhdjfdjhf i wish the high notes before the last chorus would have been a bit longer to add more drama, maybe i’m just spoiled by taeil though

fireworks - this seems to have a similar pattern as hala hala with the slow start and build up to the beat but i found hala hala a bit more interesting in the execution. AGAIN, the chorus is really good lmfao do they put crack in those or…

wave - i’m a bit over the tropical house thing so this wasn’t as interesting to me tbh, not bad but i just feel like i heard the same beat drop in 20 other songs before

say my name - this was okay? i didn’t have any particular feelings for this when i listened to it, like nothing really stood out to me 😭 the chorus (lol) is cool but i feel like they had better ones with cooler build ups too!

answer - same as say my name, not bad but no particular part really caught my interest

inception - very sexy slow intro i feel like the build up happened a bit too quickly, wish there were two more lines in between the intro and the first time the beat comes in. still like this though!

utopia - love the dramatic ass piano pre-chorus that introduces the chorus with the same lyrics. this is only a b-side right? same as hala hala man, that’s insane lol this is title track material for many groups

all in all i really enjoyed their songs like nothing that i genuinely disliked! my favorites would be hala hala, pirate king and utopia

I've been wondering for a while now, but what are your thoughts on Naruto? I recall you saying that you enjoyed the story for what it was, so what were some aspects you liked or disliked? Something I'm curious about especially is what did you think of Madara himself, but also his relationship with Hashirama? Personally, I found that it was the kind of relationship Kishimoto aimed to have with SNS but never managed to execute as convincingly. Did you think so as well while reading the story?

Naruto’s fine for me. I liked a good majority of the characters. I don’t think any of them were utilized all that well unless their last named happened to be Uchiha. 

I actually did like the big worldbuilding reveals towards the ending of the manga though. Parallelism and foils are my jam, so the fact that the parallels between Hashirama and Madara were built up between Naruto and Sasuke since literally the valley of the end and were paid off with this interesting backstory where these two brothers have been reincarnating again and again always trying to understand each other and failing to and falling into a terrible conflict because not only that they disagreed but that they disagreed while they were so close is a really cool worldbuilding idea, or maybe it just hits my trope sweet spot. 

I do wish they had just built up to this earlier though and centered the manga more around this thematically rather than just introducing it at the very end. While it made for some really great chapters it’s kind of like a few standalone amazing chapters in an otherwise sea of grey. 

You have these three interesting really close and really intense friendships which are perhaps the most important driving relationships in these men’s life, over three different generations. Uchiha Madara and Hashirama SenjuUchiha Obito and Hatake KakshiUchiha Sasuke and Naruto Uzumaki. In all three of them it’s the same fatal flaw that breaks the friendship apart. They care way too much, while at the same time pretending they don’t care at all. Madara always acted like he had no attachment to Hashirama other than a rival and therefore couldn’t get close enough to convey his concerns until literally it was too late and he decided to cut the ties themselves. Obito also only approached Kakashi as a rival at first and shut out all of Kakashi refusing to understand him even though the one time they finally started to get along Obito was such a great influence on Kakashi that he changed his entire life motivation. Sasuke also shut off Naruto even though Naruto was literally the only person who understood exactly how alone he felt. 

They always serve as these greatly intensely emotional relationships that is a catalyst for change in both of them, but it’s always the Uchiha who runs away first and always because of a fear of loss. Obito makes it clear that if he had just been able to get over Rin he could have gone back to Kakashi and helped fulfill his dream. 

Basically that all three of the Uchihas became hurt too badly because they invested themselves too much into something, and their defense instinct was always to withdraw. Then the isolation made them unable to ever find support and overcome their unhealthy mindsets. Their life literally just became entirely defined by loss.

So yes, I think they were going for the same dynamic with all three generations and also it could have been way better executed if there was less pacing issues and also like 400 chapters of nothing in between these giant events. 

Basically though Madara and Sasuke do go through the same journey. First they have everything taken from them. However, after that point they believe themselves no longer capable of sustaining the loss, so they end up destroying it by their own hands rather than let someone else destroy it because at least that way they seize agency and think they are protecting themselves. I do like the theme of failed successive generations I just wish it had been executed with better pacing and also more clear cut direction.

aahhhh yes i did listen to zombie when it first came out !!! and im sorry i don’t want to disappoint anyone fnfnfnjf but although i did respect and applaud them for making a song that was different and fun, i actually didn’t like zombie and i still don’t really like it 😭😭 it’s not a bad song at all !!!! i just found myself not liking the chorus that much, or rather the transition from pre chorus to chorus dndndnd and it never really gave me the ‘listen to this again!’ feeling i usually get with a song im obsessed with,,,,, i’m sorry bub 😭 but hey, maybe somewhere along the way it’ll finally click for me, ya never know! i’m glad you’ve been enjoying it tho hun <3
