Day 9 of #marchmeetthemaker, the story behind the name. My friend Luca is the one who actually came up with the name Leafling. I was stressing out over it for weeks. I only knew I wanted something cute and it has to have leaf in it. She asked me why not just mash leaf and darling into Leafling, and it was a winner for me. Unfortunately the user name was not available anywhere so it morphed into Leafling Bags. You just never know what a few drinks with friends on a Friday night might lead to. Like manny other maker I started Leafling Bags as a side project next to my full time job at Tata as a tech support consultant. After 3 years or so it just became to much I just got tired of working on my weekends and never being able to have any plans because I had orders to finish so I quit my day job and prayed to get enough orders to be able to pay the rent. Ever since than it’s been like a scary rollercoaster ride, being self employed is not easy I just never quiet know what to expect after the next turn, but I don't regret it. Bering an introvert I never felt entirely comfortable in an office environment, I was never good at small talk or at office politics. Showing of some leaf backpack details for today's #MarchMeetTheMaker change. Making these leaf flaps is a long process since I can't use my embroidery machine for it because the flaps are generally bigger than the embroidery hoops. Also the edges need to be finished properly so this takes time. Whenever I can I try to make as manny flaps in one go as possible to speed up the making process. Still time management is a struggle for me because there is always something that needs to be done and it just blows my daily plan to hell.
