Honour’s Day 2K16

Before I get into the actual graduation (which will come in another post,) I want to talk about Honour’s Day. Even though, ya know. Graduation comes before Honour’s Day. But hey, save the best event for last.

So Honour’s Day. An event where basically is summarised in a performance, awards and speeches. So many long speeches. It’s a thing that happens at the end of every academic year, always with the same three things. We look forward to the performance the most, since the awards, while they’re really hyped up in the beginning, it begins to drag on for a long time. So that gets boring unless you have friends up there. Then you cheer your hearts out, hard.

But other than that. It’s eh. The performance this time was called ‘the Goblin Next Door.’ The script was kind of cringy because it was all for PYPs (children aged 10 and below ish) and thus, the script is suited that way. Plot’s basically about this asshole of a goblin wrecking the fairies’ homes to the point where they want to move out from the city. Just to get away from the goblin. That’s SAVAGE.

And eventually the goblin goes through the warming heartfelt feeling of friendship from a helping hand and apologises and everybody’s happy and sings happy songs. Cliche, but cute...?

I have some really bad shots of the act, because parents block the way and I’m awkward with a camera, hurr durr.

Can you tell just how cliche this whole thing is from the background? Can you?

And they all sang Zootopia’s Try Everything at the end. Sweet?

I didn’t manage to get the award ceremony and the speeches, because honestly, who wants that?? Do you want that??? 

And with that, the day comes to an end and the academic year ends.

3 Days Left - ... Nothing.

Honestly, I don’t know what to put here, since there was no school today save for Parent’s-Teacher’s Day, which was basically for the other years/ grades to go to school, talk about their report cards to the teachers and improve themselves. They set up appointments, or just go up to a teacher that’s free and talk about that. 

Listen. What are we, Year 11s, who are going to graduate in 3 days, going to say to our teachers about our grades? Like??? We’re not going to be in this school any longer and even if some of us go to DP, the subjects are totally different, so??? Okay???

(I totally went to school. But just to thank the teachers-ish.)

But uh, just an update for the next few days. Tomorrow is literally a holiday, so there’s going to be nothing to post tomorrow. On Thursday is graduation practice, and on Friday... is graduation. The last day of school.

I hope to post photos of graduation and Honour’s Day when it comes. It’ll be great and very... sad.

4 Days Left - Last Day In School

Note, the title means what it means. It’s our last day IN school, but not the last day OF school. We don’t ever get to see the school again (except maybe pick up our photo books and get our actual marks in September/ August ish) but we do have to go practice for graduation at the place we’re supposed to perform and graduate, of course.

So today our practice lasted for about 30 minutes. Which is freaking great, because we had the whole day to ourselves and eating pizza.

And basically spent the day taking pictures of the whole school. Because even though I’m going to school tomorrow (for Parent’s Teacher’s Day; thanking teachers and what not,) I won’t be able to free roam to my homeroom and all. So here are some pictures of our school.

It’s very likely that the whole place will change again. Since it’s changed since Year 7. Lockers moved upstairs, an extra room, shifting of rooms. I suppose it’ll never stop. But this dumb school will be in our hearts as the place that we’ve mad real good friends.

14 Days Left - Promposals

(Once again, no pictures. I’m bringing my camera next week fo sho.)

Yep, you read right. This week was just full of promposals for the girls and boys alike. You would not believe how many promposals went out because of prom.

So prom is coming in about a... a week. Yep. 18th of June. And people are obviously preparing for it. Girls are talking about what dresses they’re getting (and discussing whether we bough our prom dresses yet; I know I have.) and the boys are trying to get their suits... and ask girls out for prom.

Hey, it’s our last year. So really, this is our last opportunity to do this kind of stuff.

And the first promposal that happened... was on a day that I didn’t turn up, but there was a video of it. That I’m not going to post. But basically, it was a real sweet promposal with balloons being given. And there were a lot of promposals in the same caliber; there was one with singing, one with flowers, one with board and flowers and one with... an apple and an orange. It’s... practical...?

As for me, well, I’ve had two promposals. One was from a guy through a song he made himself and another was just a person who asked me out. I went with the latter.

There isn’t much to this, except to say that prom is coming really soon. And we’re all really excited. Especially since it’s not in school this time, holy shit. That’s like amazing, since we’ve only ever have it in school. So, yeah.

Catching Up: E-Assessments

(There’s no photos here, since I obviously can’t take pictures in the actual exams and I stopped bringing my camera to school. I also assume that since it’s been... two weeks or so after the e-assessments, I can safely talk about it.)

And right after the e-Portfolios; the dreaded e-Assessments. Like the e-Portfolios, this was implemented into the IB system because people wanted an external moderation to prevent biased marking. And as such, we get a whole bunch of new structures and exams to learn that were away from the usual structure of “essay lab report analysing” stuff. Wonderful.

And what made it even better was the fact that we had to do it on computers. PCS with a software that IB made. So that was a thing.

So we went through the effort of learning the new structure and questions, all of which had the same concept of answering but in a different structure. Like, have you ever tried writing 3 essays in a span of 2 hours? That’s the English e-assessment. How about 2 essays, a lab report and several questions in 2 hours too? All the Sciences. There’s also I&S, Maths and IDU, but that was decent in terms of structure. If we’re talking about difficulty, Maths is the worst. If we’re talking about timing... basically everything but I&S forces you to manage your time very well.

And the best part was that all the mocks that we had? The two mocks we had, we had to write everything. So eventually when we had to do it on the computer, it was so much faster than writing and our hands didn’t cramp up as much.

I’m not going to talk in depth of the e-assessments (because I’m still unsure about whether I can talk about it fully; IB has a rule that we cannot give information about the e-Assessments to other IB students, but that’s during a 24 hour span so yeah) but what I can say is that the actual e-Assessment? It was decent. Though one of the exams had changed its structure (and threw me the fuck off, like what even IB?) the rest were okay, despite not finishing some questions. Maths seemed to be the hardest for everyone and the Sciences were relatively easy. And then there was that fakeass IDU that surprised us with only 8 or 9 questions (there are normally 10 to 12 questions) and it took so long to do that most of us didn’t even finish.

BUT HEY, IT’S OVER SO WHO CARES? WE DON’T NEED TO DEAL WITH THAT SHIT ANYMORE, WE’RE GRADUATING AND THAT’S THAT.

No more e-Assessments. No more IB work. No more torture.

And that’s it for the catching up! I hope to be updating for the rest of these last weeks despite there being nothing to report about. But hey, I’ll try.
