There's a regular joke among DR fans about the protags just zoning out to everyone's bafflment during the minigame segments and something tells me Kiwa would canonically do this for real. Just spending an inordinate amount of time, thousand-yard stare on her face, and no one can tell if she's playing Reskinned Bejeweled inside her brain or idly wondering what her own execution would be like

I love how Gina has beef with one specific (albeit culturally important) book to the point where it attains "Dislikes:" level. We've all been there

yeahhh, I've read it and I personally do like it but I also can respect her dislike as someone who has beef with a book called A Fatal Crossing

while it's not a culturally important book the ending ruined my night and I started reading 1 star reviews to my friends in VC for like an hour

I love the way Mei's profile ends because a) Ouchie. and b) it feels very connected to the whole concept of the cast as mostly post-wunderkind adults figuring out where to go from there. You got your whole life ahead of you (yay) vs you got your whole life ahead of you (aw shit). The DR killing games almost reframed as a twisted caricature of mercy - because you are robbed of your own future, your potential can forever bloom in the imagination of others. thank you!! Mei is a nice contrast to the rest of the cast who have been pushed out of the school to the rest of the world to try and figure it all out after years of being told that they are exceptional, that they are promised a good and well paid life. Into a world that constantly wants more

where you are pit against experience, maybe other ultimates of the same trade, maybe similarly gifted people from competing talent schools, where what you were is suddenly not enough or what you thought you wanted, suddenly, you are not a super high school level student, you are just an adult

maybe to some of them, a classroom's worth of people all with talents trapped together forever is enough to feel preserved :) have a great day too!!!

having one of the characters' dislike be another member of the cast is both bespoke and hilarious, and said disliked person being the protag of all people is like a perfect cherry on top. i love the way your mind works

hehe thank you! their relationship has been the most interesting and also so SO difficult to write, especially since that whole situation has to be navigated inside a small closed environment.... perhaps forever

Hotaka is a very nice person, but I've had to do some interesting dialogues to get that across while he's not the biggest fan of the character we play as

small Hotaka!! I can do some of them at least! 🤔 and I love to draw characters in different parts of their life! Mei has been and will always be a massive weirdo <33 she is still in Hope's Peak so the tranformation to her first year look is not that huge but let's say she cut her hair because she couldn't be bothered to maintain it haha
