- Green Machine -
Here's a cool photo of my friend Oli Adams Scoring Thurso On A Modified 6'3 Winkipoppa Single Fin (AKA- GreenMachine), Oli rides for my friend Luke Hart at Fourth, and this single fin was a one off, Oli underwent a bit of an injury after the christmas period and was lurking round the factory for something a little different/floaty and fun too ride while on the road too recovery, i guess he stumbled (hobbled) across my green machine which was hiding out back in the ding room for a little TLC, and it must of spoken too him.. he went for a surf that day cos he called me that night saying it was the most fun he’d had in a while, and was really surprised at how easy it went on rail, he then asked if he could take it too Thurso with him for the next swell.. and yeah here’s the video with a couple clips on the green machine, enjoy!
So the green machine is a board i Shaped For Myself Last Summer (2014), Which Was At The Time The Pinnacle Of My-Own Single Fin Exploration.. I Kept The Outline And Bottom Shape Similar Too The Single Fins I Worked On In Jeffrey's Bay With My Good Friend Mikey Meyer- Clean outlines Draw Clean Lines And I've Always Liked The Way Those Boards Surfed In A Range Of Conditions, Then I Combined It With A Rocker And Foil I Worked On In Hawaii With My Good Friend Jeff Bushman, From When We Made Our Own Tweaked Aipa Inspired Stinger, I Really Liked How The Rocker Hits A Break Point With The Wings For A Bit More Bite And Feel Under The Back Foot, And The Thickness Was Carried Forward For 'Swing Weight' So It Really Gets Going On Those Down The Line Speed Runs! The Rails Were Something A Bit Different For Me, My First Time Shaping A Real 'Bevel' Rail, Inspired By Jeff Mccallum, I Liked The Way The Deck Was Flat And Pushed Outwards Which then Hit An Angular Bevel Too Foil Out, I Also Liked The Way It Complimented The Outline. I Guess These Were The Main Design Influence Points On This One And They Seem Too Blend Together Nicely, I Make A Conscious Effort Too Not Copy Anyone's Shapes But Too Look At Things And Appreciate And Then Work Out How Too Incorporate Something I Like Into My Own Stuff, And I Feel Like This Is One Of Those Boards That Shows This!!
