Review - LG HBS-750 Bluetooth headset are they good for an active lifestyle?
So for any of you that personally know me, you know I love to do things with music, I just can't stand not having any noise and if I was going to work out I needed music with me. When I first started walking and jogging I would use a set of earbuds that came with my Zune (yeah go ahead and laugh but the earbuds that came with it were awesome and it sounded good also) but the problem with regular earbuds is that they would constantly come loose and fall out. I tried all different types, behind the head and even the ones with the little ear loop that hung off your ears. Those held on fine, but never really stayed in enough to sound good and to be honest that ear hook would bug the crap out of me. Eventually I bought a pair of House of Marley on hear headphones, which sound awesome but were still wired.
About a month ago during one of my walks at the campus I work at, I noticed a billboard for three sets of LG earbuds that were bluetooth. These were interesting because they had a collar than goes around your neck with all the electronics, so while they are earbuds they don't bounce around or get pulled down from extra weight. So I started looking into them, they were a bit pricey at 70 bucks for them so I kind of just filed it away.
Over the next couple of weeks of getting cords tangled and or earbuds falling out I revisited them and read some reviews most were favorable. Not long after I was on Groupon Goods and saw a generic version for 39 bucks, but right before clicking it I saw the actual LG ones for 49. So I thought about it for a second, should I buy the cheapo brand or spend the extra 10 bucks for the real ones? I decided that I should and it's turned out to be a great decision.
First I want to talk about the fit, finish and design. When I first picked them I was surprised because I thought they would be heavier and the neck band wouldn't be flexible. Turns out neither were true. Also, the ear buds magnetically store in the unit which is pretty nice. The button layout is fine once you get used to it. It feels solid if I had a complaint it would be that I'm not a fan of where the power switch is.
After I unpacked them (I probably should've done a proper unboxing and posted the video) I put them on just to see how they fit. They felt fine, in fact the neck piece is light enough that I wear it almost all day at work to listen to music. The earbuds did come with extra rubber pieces but the standard ones fit my ears just fine.
After I took them off I paired them to my phone, I have a Lumia 822 (go ahead and laugh but other than not having a lot of apps its been rock solid for me) and they paired fine. A really nice feature is that they can be paired to two devices at one time, so like I said above, I use them at work for both music off my laptop and my phone. I turned them on and started to test them out.
First I played some hard rock, Breaking Benjamin, Iron Maiden, Megedeth and Metallica. The bass was responsive and and the highs were crisp and clean. Next up came a electronic music, The Crystal Method and Chemical brothers. Again the volume, bass and high's all sounded good and balanced, well to my ears anyway.
So next up was going for a walk/jog. I generally walk at around 2.5 mph, maybe a little quicker and I actually don't jog much faster yet. So I headed out expecting the earbuds to start falling out as I moved. Nope, they barely moved. This is truly the setup I was looking for.
So I guess in conclusion I highly recommend these, the build and sound quality is great and they feel fine wearing them for long periods of time. Plus they don't fall out or hang on my ears. So there you have it, if your looking for a headset for walking, jogging, running and cycling I recommend the LG HBS-750 Bluetooth headset.
