frederick encourages the certitude of his own death far 2 much and far 2 casually for any healthy man w/ a reasonable amount of self worth honestly .
LIKE.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
frederick like, values his skills as a tool but probably not as a person ngl. which isn’t ... really something to unpack cus i am really not swayed into believing that he has, like, severe pathological issues ( obviously there Are Some because no Normal Person Who Values Themselves Would Speak of Himself Like This ) but yeah. There’s obv like this weird level of self esteem going on where, it’s not like the dude consciously hates himself, and i don’t really think that that’s an arguable point to speak on, but it’s clear that he doesn’t see himself as someone on equal footing with...Most People, especially the people in the Shepherds, and especially the royal family. Which makes sense! he was raised to serve them, and he takes that to like an extreme sort of level ( which is a bit sad because it’s always played off for humour but it’s quite clear 2 me that a lot of it stems from pity over the loss of their parents at such a young age, duty, and later because of guilt that he ‘let’ emmeryn die under his protection ).
anyway this is getting away from me but yea fred jus talks abt his own death like way way way too much and its depressing af to me considering he, like, actually does die in the future timeline and it messes whoever his kid is up lmao and . hm ! anyway bye *mic drop*
