Everything has to be organized the way Helen likes it. She has a routine, a schedule, and a curfew. She is a germaphobe. She hates insects and other critters that intrude into her home without her knowing. She has to cook and clean everything herself. Emma tells her angrily she doesn't have to; Helen replies she must. There is too much around her, she's overwhelmed.
She thinks the Card World was easier; there were no messes in the Card World.
If Dante is a star, Gabry can be space. Dante's country can be modest and small; Gabry's can be destructive and mixed. Dante's subjects follow virtues of humanity; Gabry's subjects freely reject all laws. Dante is a human pretending to be a god; Gabry is an alien pretending to be human.
Make Gabry a space girl, cowards. Put her on mars.
Joker creates little dolls of the cards; Helen tailors little costumes. They have theatre nights to make sappy stories that end in Little Helen's comfort. Joker likes picking apart her reactions; Helen enjoys expressing more negative feelings through the doll, facing no consequences. She gives Little Emma a piece of her mind until the story bends to her side. It always ends kindly. Joker sees a messy play of accommodation and friendship; Helen sees what her life should be. She wishes one day Emma will be as considerate as her little counterpart.
